Bungie Ties the Leader
The latest Top Story on Bungie.net is a writeup of the Halo Humpday Challenge against Tied the Leader. Why a Top Story this time? Well, because (spoilers!) Bungie won. It’s a great read – sounds like they were some fun games. (XerxdeeJ stopped by to point out that the TTL writeup was online, as well – a fine example of graceful acquiescence.) deeJ makes a great point – it’s not so much who wins or loses, it’s that Bungie makes these happen at all. So who’s next?(Louis Wu 14:30:31 UTC)

ATR Submission Invite: The Sacrifice Left 4 Dead DLC
Time for another episode. This one is gonna be all about the new DLC that Left 4 Dead received recently! You know how this works, send in all your fun stories, opinions, and other thoughts on the DLC to atr@podtacular.com. The form appears to be missing for now, but I’ll try and get a link to that form put up on the site again. For now just use the email.
Given my school schedule I can’t give a definite recording date, but it’s gonna be in at least one week and no more than three weeks (I hope). So there isn’t a big rush to send them in. You have plenty of time to play it before the show gets recorded.
Get to it!

AH: XBox Live Marketplace Upcoming and Current Deals
There’s going to be plenty of new content to buy this month, even today there’s a new Arcade game Comic Jumper as well as “The Sacrifice” DLC for Left 4 Dead and Left 4 Dead 2 which was delayed from yesterday. I’m sure AHWU will have you covered on the new game releases, but in terms of deals, here’s what’s on offer for the rest of the month so far:
Week of October 4th: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
Stimulus Package and Resurgence Package are both reduced to 600 MS Points each.
Week of October 11th: Mass Effect 2
Overlord DLC and Kasumi: Stolen Memory DLC both reduced to 400 MS Points.
Week of October 18th: Battlefield: Bad Company 2 (XBox Live Members’ Choice)
Onslaught DLC package reduced to 400 MS Points.
SPECACT Upgrade Bundle package reduced to 320 MS Points.
These may be some great deals, but unfortunately they don’t count towards the best deal currently on the XBox Live Marketplace. If you spend 2400 MS Points or more on full price Arcade games or Game Add Ons (DLC), you’ll receive 800 MS Points back for free!
For all the info on this deal, check out the Official page.

AH: Achievement Challenge 13 Reminder + UK Only Competition
First off, got a little reminder for a competition open to all of you with an XBox Live account. Achievement Challenge 13 is currently open for sign ups, a week long race to see who can rack up the biggest Gamerscore increase. If this sounds like your kind of thing, head on over to the Achievement Challenges group to join up! The Challenge begins Friday morning at 9am GMT.
This next bit UK only!
Hunted: The Demons Forge is still a few months away, but you could be wearing this snazzy t-shirt much sooner than that.

To be in with a chance of winning, youll first of all need to live in the UK, is that clear now? Good! Now to win, youll need to keep an eye on my Twitter page @TudorVII other the next few days. Ill be putting out tweets with a few letters from a game title I tried while attending Eurogamer Expo 2010 last weekend. Each one will have the hashtag #EGXComp and Ill let you know when the last ones been tweeted. Once theyre all done, unscramble the collection of letters to form an upcoming game title that was at Eurogamer Expo and send me a message here on Achievement Hunter. The winner will be the first one who messages me with the correct answer, so make sure you’re quick.
Good luck guys, thisll be kicking off tomorrow.

AH: Gamers Rapport – 016: Tudors Fault

Non Sequitor titles for the win! Anywho, we’re back after the whirlwind of PAX Prime and the Halo: Reach launch. As such, we discuss both things, as well as some XBLA titles, Spiderman: Shattered Dimensions. But seriously, we talk a lot about Reach. Campaign (no spoilers), Firefight, Forge, Matchmaking, Achievements. All of it. Also, we’re thinking of moving recording to Wednesdays and releasing on Fridays, but want your feedback. Email us or sound off in the group forum to let us know what you think!
Those voices in your head are none other than Knuckles Dawson, Fragger, & 8BitBass.

AH: Left 4 Dead 2 and NBA2K11 Easter Eggy type things
Good Morning!
I’ve got a pair of easter eggy type videos for you today. The first one shows some legit eggs from the new L4D DLC, The Sacrifice… while the second one shows, what is probably not technically an easter egg, but is bizarre enough to make a video out of. Check out President Obama in NBA2K11.

AH: Gears of War 3 Beta Coming Early 2011
In a recent press event, Epic games announced that Gears of War 3 will be getting the Beta treatment in early 2011, news that should ease the angst caused by announcement that the full game will be delayed for 5 months, coming Fall 2011. Epic stated that they always wanted to do a Beta for the previous games, but with the additional 5 months they had to work on the third installment, now seemed like the perfect time. That’s not the only big announcement, as Executive Producer Rod Fergusson went on to confirm that Gears of War 3 will use dedicated servers for ranked and social matchmade games, in an effort to eliminate complaints of “host advantage”.
I played Gears of War 3’s new Beast mode a few days ago at Eurogamer Expo, and although it’ll be another year until the full game is released, it already felt like a finished product. Read my brief impressions of the demo here. It’s unlikely that the public Beta will influence any major changes to a game that was set to release in just a few months, but it should at least give Epic the feedback on their multiplayer system and a chance to polish the final product.

By now, if you haven’t played the campaign, you should be shot back into orbit until you learn of Noble Team’s sacrifice. Obviously, if you haven’t played the campaign and don’t want to be spoiled, don’t listen to this show. With that aside, we start our discussion about Halo: Reach’s campaign and how it compares to other campaigns in the Halo universe. Discrepancies among the events of the book Fall of Reach and the game are discussed as well as we dive into what we like and dislike about the campaign. This is only part one of our campaign show, so be sure to listen in to the next one to get the rest of the juicy details. Guests for this set of episodes are Kete from The Running Riot, and CMNeir and MidgetDance from Halo Reach Tricks. Enjoy
