Now in the double digits, Podtacular’s weekly comic comes at you again from Mr. Quality Jeverage. More discussion in the forums. I can’t wait for humpday!

Advanced Warfighter
MaritalBlaze54 submitted ‘Advanced Warfighter’ to the MPRRS, and they loved it – enough that it made into the Top 10 passing scores. It’s an adaptation of the Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter release trailer (google it if you’ve never seen it), and uses the GRAW HUD really well – among other niceties. Great cinematography, great effects… this one’s worth watching! Grab the WMP9 version (25.9 mb) or the QuickTime version (26.7 mb).

Halo Graphic Novel Preview now out
Stephen Loftus pointed out that the Halo Graphic Novel comic, the 16-page preview meant to whet your appetite for the real thing (due out on July 12) was released a couple of days go (May 31), but nobody on the forum’s been discussing it. (Stephen says that it’s got plenty of spoiler material in it, so he’s not willing to START a discussion. Just a heads-up, if you’d been meaning to swing by a comic shop…

Marty Talks Halo 3 at PLAY!
Very nice. Spartan Jag pointed out a tidbit in an interview over at Xbox Evolved – Marty O’Donnell discussed Bungie, Chicago, and Halo 3 with one of their staffers before the PLAY! concert a couple of days ago. (The tidbit is cool – apparently, there was a chance for some press folks to play a little multiplayer at E3; I hadn’t heard anything about that before.) The interview, in its entirety, is actually pretty nice – give it a read!

Artwork, Updated
The Miscellaneous Art queue has been sadly neglected for over a month – I didn’t have time to fully clear it out today, but i DID manage to put up 20 new images (well, 22, if you count the variants). There’s some killer stuff in there – go look!

Helix Canyon
FireDragon04 points out a new map for Halo Custom Edition entitled Helix Canyon. You can find a discussion thread (with screens) on the Gearbox forums, and another on the Halomods forum. Give it a look – and a download!

The Halo Brothers Tag Mario Melee Event
We got word of a tournament in Orlando, Florida, coming up on June 17. It’s sponsored by Gamestop – $20 to get in, lots of prizes. Halo is one of several games. Check out The Trades website for more details.

Cortana, Breathing
MsValentine, a regular over at Red vs Blue, has been cosplaying as Cortana at various conventions – and tweaking the costume as she goes – here’s a recent shot of the outfit (there should be more coming soon). If you are a member at RvB, you can check out her images section for older pics, as well – and feel free to stop by our forum if you have any comments for her!

Deconstructing The Movie Process
Over at Rampancy.net, Narcogen has written up the first installment of a piece he entitled ‘Halo Movie Dos and Don’ts’. It’s nothing that hasn’t been hashed out dozens of times on Halo forums across the net – but it’s nicely organized, well-thought-out, and backed up with solid arguments. Definitely worth a read.

Halo: Marine Tales
Over at Newgrounds, there’s a very NSFW Flash animation called ‘Halo: Marine Tales‘ – parts are quite funny, parts are totally silly, spelling is atrocious, profanity is WAY overused. Artwork is quite good. Worth a look – if you can do so without getting in trouble. Thanks, Naburu.

Podtacular is going to battle the Bungie crew in the Bungie Humpday Challenge!
The rumors are true, the Unofficial Halo Podcast is going up against the official Halo everything! I’m pretty sure the date is Wednesday, June 14th Wednesday, June 7th at 8pm pacific. That’s 11pm eastern in case you don’t have an abacus in your head. Huge thanks to JVB, KP and Frankie for setting this up. So despite my feeb skills, I’m actually going to practice up and play in this match. It will be 5 on 5, and with JVB and me that leaves just 3 slots. I’m sure you’re wondering who those people will be.We’ll be switching out people for each match if we can. Here’s the roster:

This list may change depending on availability. And just to avert the inevitable, realize thiat I’d love to bring our top 50 contributors but that ain’t happenin’. It was a tough decision on picking the 1st string and reserves, so let’s congratulate these people for making the team and not get cranky if you didn’t make it or if you’re in the reserves instead of the 1st string. We got love for you too.
Spread the word! I can’t wait!! Oh and we need to practice together. More on that coming soon.

Halo Movie Dos And Don’ts, Part I
In the wake of rumors that the Halo movie will be pushed back from its rumored 2007 release date due to its rumored lack of a director and rumored delay of the rumored principal photography that was rumored to have taken place somewhere in New Zealand about now, but allegedly hasn’t, several readers suggested I write something on how I thought the Halo movie ought to be done.
To a certain extent, to do so is a little unfair and perhaps counterproductive. Any idea for the film, if expressed in enough detail, would be indistinguishable from an unsolicited script thrown into a studio slush pile. Either it’ll just be ignored (as most probably deserve to be) or it would be read. Having been read, if any ideas actually got into the movie, it could form the basis for complaints on the part of the author that the studio used them without compensation.
Or, worse still, a random coincidence between any idea in such a script and the film itself might be used as a basis for such a complaint. So, in a way, writing too much about cool things you’d like to see in the movie almost guarantees those things won’t be, especially if it’s something new and unique and interesting, rather than just something you’ve already seen in the games or read in the books.
Besides, the only fair way to do that would be to pen a complete script; and if I was capable of writing a good Halo movie script that would be a critical and commercial success I think there’d have been more of an indication of it before now.
However, what I will do is take some cues from the games, the books, the rumored script by Alex Garland, which I have previously spent time dissecting, and do something that’s not allowed at the Movie Cynics Database at HBO. I’ll write a simple list of things I think the Halo movie Should or Should Not do and explain why.

Submit stuff for Episode 66: The Halo 3 Show
Darn memorial day weekend screwed me all up, I thought it was Tuesday today. Since we’re recording tomorrow, we better get something to talk about! That’s where you come in…
Bungie is designing Halo 3. They should know what the community wants.
We all know Halo 3 will be more than Halo 2 with an assault rifle and spiffy new gloves. What would you put in it? You should already have plenty of inspiration knowing that there is a modified assault rifle in there and new gloves (and boots) to work with. What other weapons will be in there? Will there be new forerunner, human, or covenant vehicles/weapons? What will they look like? New power ups? New game types? New matchmaking system? New shield system? New team collaboration system? New movement options? Let’s let them know what we think should be in there!
Just send in your ideas by clicking the link on the right that says submit news and tips, fill in your tip and send it on in. Just try not to send stuff we’ve already covered if you can help it. Be sure to tell us your gamertag so we can give you credit.
I play Halo 3 but my real passion is Bubble Bobble!
Apparently there are people out there that play other games besides Halo 2. If you have any games you think us Halo 2 jarheads would like, why don’t you let us know about them? Just send us a little mini-review of the game with your gamertag. It would be cool if we covered a bunch of classic games this time too just for variety.
Make it quick! Deadline to get in your idea is Thursday night!

Marty Rocks. (And so does the rest of the team.)
The winners of our last 7 on the 7th contest have begun to receive their prizes – Geary posted a pic in our forum, and wigglepie13 emailed us a nice thank-you. All I have to say is thanks, Bungie! Update: And one more, from Sane Intolerant. Nice!
