New updates over at Tied the Leader; a piece on good sportsmanship, and a fun feel-good bit about Big Team Battle, and how nice it is to go in with a full team of 8. (If you find XerxdeeJ’s stats in the included picture hard to believe… believe anyway. They’re real.) Thanks to XerxdeeJ for popping into our forum for a heads-up.(Louis Wu 13:16:48 UTC)

  • Gamepro’s Greatest Moments in Gaming

    by

    in
Gamepro has written up their idea of The 55 Greatest Moments in Gaming; Halo 2 takes 36, for a Berserker in multiplayer, and Halo pulls in #2, for the Maw run. Not too shabby! Thanks, Private Idaho.(Louis Wu 12:56:32 UTC)

  • Detach predicts Top 8 in Chicago

MLG has posted a summary of the predictions of one of the pros for the upcoming MLG Chicago tourney – interesting to see how well he does. Thanks, 3Suns.(Louis Wu 17:42:26 UTC)

Heh – spartanerik noticed a Halo-related construction over at HowStuffWorks, in an article entitled ‘How Play-Doh® Modeling Compound Works‘; on the off chance that the pic disappears, we’ve archived it here. Good stuff!(Louis Wu 15:32:44 UTC)

  • HMV Hell

    by

    in
For the most part, movies we host run through the Movie Peer Review Rating System; it gives useful feedback to the movie maker, and it cuts down on the films the staff actually needs to weed through to find the gems. It works really well – though since it’s totally volunteer-run, occasionally, movies are in the queue for longer than we’d like. Now is one of those times – my guess is a lot of it is that it’s summer, and folks are less inclined to ‘work’ during their free time. Whatever the reason, occasionally a movie will come along that is good enough that I’d rather it didn’t wait through the queue. One of those came in yesterday; imSuck, a moviemaker with a LOT of great movies under his belt, sent along ‘HMV Hell’, a Halo vid based on the concept of AMV Hell – it’s a mashup of a lot of different songs, in different styles, all illustrated nicely in Halo, and wonderfully interspersed with humor. Film quality, as usual with imSuck’s work, is top-notch; great visuals, great cinematography, great timing. It’s long – just over 9 minutes – but well worth the download. Grab a WMP9 version (108 mb) or a QuickTime version (112 mb) – and enjoy it!(Louis Wu 12:03:55 UTC)

  • Mute Radio – the evolution of PwnCasting

    by

    in
Mute Radio, a new venture that has evolved out of MLG PwnCast, opens its doors – it sounds like their focus is shifting from Halo to everything that gamers are interested in (which means that while they’ll be appealing to a larger audience overall, we’ll be covering them less) – but for now, their first podcast is still pretty solidly Halo-based. An interview with Storm Ventures (a top pro team) and discussions about MLG Chicago fill this puppy. Go listen! And if you like the idea of a podcast that covers movies, music, and other subjects that appeal to gamers, while still covering the Pro Halo scene… bookmark that site! Thanks, Bluestrike2.(Louis Wu 11:34:45 UTC)

Andre Vrignaud is a member of the Xbox Platform Strategy group, and used to be the Drector of Technical Strategy for Xbox Live. His latest blog post contains a Penny Arcade strip that the PA guys created for the XBL team when Xenon (the project that eventually became the Xbox 360) was approved for go-ahead. It focuses on Xbox 2 rumors – and it’s pretty funny. And one of them is Halo-related, so I get to mention it here. Thanks, 3Suns.(Louis Wu 12:21:42 UTC)
