AH: Octob-Gear, War-ctober…
These terrible titles doing anything for ya? Yeah, me neither.
Anyway, for those that don’t know, tomorrow is the beginning of the biggest XP event in Gears of War 2 history! From October 29th until November 1st, players will receive a Brumak sized 31x XP boost across mutliplayer games and Horde.
You’ll still get a bit of a boost playing today, as XP had been boosted to 4x since October 12th to celebrate Gears of War 2 becoming available for Games On Demand.
So if you can tear yourself away from one of the many, games released recently, hop into some Gears of War 2 and boost thy rank. Yours truly will be hosting a Weekend Hunt for the event, but more details on that tomorrow!

Although they’re not listing the total number of units, Microsoft has revealed (via an earnings call today, courtesy of GamesBeat) that Reach generated $350 million in its first 16 days on the market – a decent guess is over 5 million units sold. Halo CE News Roundup
Our man in the field send us a list of some cool goings-on in the Halo CE community:- Precipice has been updated – you can watch the whole video, or you can jump in about 40 seconds for the good stuff.
- If you have an ATI 5 or 6 series card, you can have anti-aliasing in your Halo. Wow.
- Halo Custom Edition is getting bots – awesome!
- If you’re a .NET programmer, BlamLib will let you interface with Halo’s Tag System. Definitely tech-heavy… but pretty amazing!
- Ifafudafi’s Plasma Pack 3 does really funky things with needles. Go look.
- Project Epsilon is Inferno’s single player map based on the character Agent Washington from Red vs Blue. It has voice acting and custom animations!
- Someone built a Target Locator in Halo CE. No visuals yet (it’s a pistol)… but ti’s just as deadly as the Reach version. Pretty snazzy!
Sort of incredible how much stuff is still happening – and how much of it is GOOD.(Louis Wu 21:48:50 UTC)

Halo Cutscene Library gets new goodies
Cody Miller recorded a few new bits for our Cutscene Library – an easter egg from ODST (we’d documented it before, but now it’s part of the Library), an easter egg from Reach (discussed on our forum, but not previously in the Library), and a dialogue variant that ties in nicely with information available in the Halsey Journal (which comes with the Limited and Legendary editions of Reach). Awesomesauce!(Louis Wu 18:05:11 UTC)
