  • Explains some of the smack-talk, I think…

I… I don’t know what to say. UK’s The Sun has an article about how terrorists are using first-person shooter online lobbies (including Halo lobbies!) to organize their nefarious plots… I think the take-home message is, if you play Halo, the terrorists win. Thanks, Tha Robbertster (I think). (Louis Wu 17:57:15 UTC)

  • Concept Art for Venerance

The Lionheart stopped by with some concept art for the Halo-themed Crysis mod Venerance – done by HBO regular TDSpiral. Very cool – take a look!(Louis Wu 17:53:17 UTC)

  • Test Night with a Cartographer: 3.21.12

    From AgentPaperCraft:

Test Night with a Cartographer is a weekly event dedicated to the forgers of Waypoint. Bring your map and your “A” game as we provide professional feedback on your custom content creations. We start at 6pm on Wednesdays, and we test a variety of content throughout the night. The cool thing about this event is you have the possibility of having your content considered for matchmaking through the Community Cartographers, which is a major stepping stone in getting your name out there as a forger. More information can be found here.

Join us this week as we test 4v4 Slayer and Arena Slayer-type maps!

    From The Little Moa:

This is the first act of the Wings of Equilibria storyline. In this episode, Martin (an ex-shard slave) has escaped from a shard containment facility and is currently on the run from the Crystalliane Armda. He is captured, but then his captors are assaulted by an unknown attack force. Martin seems to evade all signs of danger as if it were pure luck. Or is it?

  • Tattoo Tuesday: Elite Sugar Skull

Some people show their love for Halo by playing the games. Others get a relevant image permanently placed upon their body. Enjoy this particular example of a Halo-related body modification, and if you have a picture you’d like to submit for possible future inclusion, send it to bsangel[at]halowaypoint.com!

    From Rtas ‘Vadum:

This was Alpha Zombies, of course on Sword Base. I was among them, but this game was real, not a machinima. It is a mix of two Infection games, and I laughed when we did it. It’s hilarous!

  • Concrete Jungle – A Forge Café Contest

Concrete Jungle - A Forge Café Contest

    From HT Edge:

The time has come to dust off your monitors and get to work! As a group, and as a community, we are proud to present an opportunity for everyone to show off their skills with a creative contest that all are welcome to participate in. There are prizes and medals up for grabs, and as many entries as possible will be crammed into a video for the world to see. So whether you are the pinnacle of forge greatness, or a schmuck with a few good ideas, get familiar with the rules and regulations, and let’s see what you can do!

Revisiting a contest from our Halo 3 days of glory, we want you to build one of our friends from the animal kingdom. From any time period, from any part of the world. However big or small, ferocious or gentle. Whether the creature is imaginary, or prehistoric. The possibilities are endless and as varied as your imagination can come up with. If you fancy the creatures of the sky, or the monsters of the deep, we want you to build it as realistic as your thumbs will allow. There is no restriction to how many creatures you stuff onto your canvas, or as complex the design is. A swarm of locusts? A school of fish? Or maybe a single dinosaur climbing the mountain side, it’s all acceptable.

Click here for the specifics. Good luck to everyone!

  • Objective Difficulties, Part 2

The second part of RC Master’s look at the problems with Halo’s objective gametypes is now online. I have to say, I disagree with a whole bunch of his points… but that doesn’t mean they’re not solidly presented. Discussion can occur on his blog, or in our forum – throw your two cents in! Update: RC Master’s posted the third part of his critique, as well – this one covers Slayer gametypes. (Again – I find a large number of his arguments unfair or unfounded… but that’s not to say the discussion isn’t worth having.) (Louis Wu 14:56:07 UTC)

  • Shooting Aliens in the Face – for Money

The latest Breaking In article at Bungie.net focuses on Nate Hawbacker (who posted for quite some time around these parts as Veegie – he’s still got a Gallery page here); go read it for tips on how HE got a job at Bungie, and what that might mean for your OWN hopes. (Even if you aren’t interested in working in the industry, these articles are a fascinating glimpse into the lives of the people who make the games we play.) Hats off to you, Nate!(Louis Wu 12:03:18 UTC)

    From FBWalshyFTW:

This is a Halo 3/Reach montage from Crossfire, edited by MK, entitled “Remnants.” Even though the gameplay features a couple lackluster MLG Overkills, it’s quite good overall, featuring a couple absolutely ridiculous clips like a 2-for-1 Narrows mancannon snipe, a DISGUSTING 2-for-1 Overkill at 2:03, and a 3-for-1 as the finale. There’s also a couple of unique clips here and there, like the Construct stick at the beginning and a mega far-range Grenade Launcher kill for the killing spree. The editing is solid, showcasing a proficient mastery of syncing along with a cool Guardian transition at 0:56. Enjoy!
