It’s Podcast Friday!
Looking over the Halo news today, I saw four separate Halo-related podcasts available for your listening pleasure. Hope you’ve got a bunch of free time!- gunn3r11 told us about Drunk on Halo Episode 6 – the podcast of The Spartan Force. Cosplay, rage quitters, and heated arguments are all present.
- CruelLEGACEY sent word of the Waypoint Community Modcast Episode 16. Special guest is DayandKnightly, discussion topics are Spartan Ops, Forward Unto Dawn, and listener questions.
- Tex announced that the podcast she was a guest on last week, 40s and 20s Episode 30, is now live. Really fun listen (though the crew does get drunker – and less accurate – as the ‘cast goes forward). Lots of Red vs Blue talk, lots of random stuff. (Check her post for an annotated SoundCloud version and an iTunes link.)

Yeah… there’s definitely a skill gap.
This seems to be the thing, now. Mikwin, playing with Classic, leads a suicide start, and plays an MLG Slayer match in standard Matchmaking against a team of randoms – the pro players kill themselves until the score is 18 to -58, a 76-kill spread. Six minutes later, they’ve climbed out of the hole and won the game, 50-41 (outscoring their opponents 108-23 in that final stretch). You can see the full game stats here. I guess it give randoms a CHANCE to beat pros… but mostly, it looks like a pretty bad pummeling. Thanks again, CyReN.(Louis Wu 17:33:59 UTC)

Misriah Armory has been very busy. As you’ll see in 343 Industries’ designs and descriptions of some of the guns appearing in Halo 4, the manufacturer has a very lucrative contract with the UNSC. Old favorites like the Assault Rifle, Battle Rifle, DMR, and Sniper Rifle will all be returning. The very last weapon, the Railgun, will debut for the very first time in Halo 4.

New Meta-game Campaign High Score
From FA Aras Cade:My friends thought I was crazy but I wanted to set a new record for the meta-game Campaign high score, and I did at 134,320,688, beating the old record set by OWA 000. As with his game, the system only recognized the first 1023 kills, so I saved the game onto my hard drive (99.9 mb). It took over 3,300 minutes, 16,000 kills, and a week of keeping my room at freezing and sleeping on the couch to keep my Xbox from overheating. The last record was set almost exactly a year ago to commemorate Bungie leaving the Halo franchise. Bungie made some really great games and it’s sad to see them leave, but now is the time for a new start. I chose 1343 because I’m hoping that 343 will make some great games, and here’s my tribute to the future of the Halo series!
