This is my attempt to meld the two things I love: Oboe and Halo. In this clip, there’s nothing a Wheelmen likes more than to see a helpless Elite strolling in the sand…

Microsoft sent out a bunch of slices of the Halo 4 box art today (this is what the email looked like – there were 32 choices). Compile all the pieces together… you get this. (If you were in Europe, you got this. it’s the same, except for the rating info.) Pretty amazing!(Louis Wu 23:30:35 UTC)

  • BigTeamBattle.net vs MLG Pros

    —

    by

    halo@bungie.org
    in
Last night, a bunch of MLG pros (mostly used to playing 4v4 games with MLG rules) joined up and played against the number one-rated BigTeamBattles.net team ‘Wake Up’ – watching the carnage is fascinating. Carbon’s Assault streamed it last night, and you can watch his archived footage starting around 4 hours into this video. The first game (Slayer on Utopie) will show you how the best Banshee flyer in the game, coupled with a team that knows the map inside and out, can DESTROY a team of some of the best shooters in Reach. (It illustrated how important knowledge of the maps can be – and how hard it is to switch between Bloom/No-Bloom settings on the fly.) Thanks to CyReN, who posted relevant links at HaloCouncil, along with an interview with the pros after the fact.(Louis Wu 20:27:54 UTC)

Every Monday, we feature a community member who does one or more of the following things: routinely goes above and beyond for their fellow forum members, is a positive and active member of the community, and/or sends me mass amounts of cat pictures. This week our Community Member of the Week is Wickenheiser. Read a little more about him below, then hit his profile to learn which of the National Lampoon movies is his favorite!

    Community Member of the Week

    Gamertag: Wickenheiser.

Previous or current clan/community: Never been in one; I’m not much of a clan person.

Halo game(s) you are currently playing: Halo: Reach, Halo: Anniversary, Halo 3, and Halo Wars.

Favorite map, game type and playlist: Team Doubles, The Pit, BRs.

Least favorite map, game type and playlist: Boundless or Snowbound, ARs.

Halo weapon specialty/preference: Sniper and BR/DMR.

Halo playing style (offense, defense, sniper, driver, etc.): Very aggressive.

Anything else we should know? I’m a Reach Inheritor and a Halo 3 50. A level 75 on Waypoint with every achievement to date, including H2 for the PC. I love Halo, and I play competitive as well as for fun. Halo 2 was by far my favorite Halo with over 10k games played online… great times! So far I haven’t missed a LASO Weekly Challenge so when another one is up, hit me up!

    From Alex:

This is a Halo: Reach MLG montage from BAKSMAK, edited by Joshington. The gameplay’s good, showcasing some sweet Multikills like the Double Kill lift snipe into an under pressure Triple on Countdown and the finale Killtacular. The editing is good too, flowing with the song very well while showcasing some really cool effects. Enjoy!

    From MythicTyrant:

With Halo 4 on the way, I thought it’d be awesome to revisit some of the Halo: Reach achievements for those of you who want to nab them all before the next game is released. This video features five achievements which can be obtained in Campaign, and yes, I’m playing on Legendary. The achievements are:

    1) Two Corpses in One Grave
    2) Banshees, Fast and Low
    3) Lucky Me
    4) If They Came to Hear Me Beg
    5) Wake Up, Buttercup

If you can think of any other Campaign or Firefight achievements you’d like me to do (no, I’m not going to spend another hour hitting the one million mark in Firefight!), let me know!

The Forward Unto Dawn crew has kicked off a new set of Halo 4 speculation – the first piece is called ‘Summum Malum – The Master Builder‘, and discusses whether the Master Builder, a Forerunner who shows up in Greg Bear’s Halo trilogy, might be the main enemy we face in Halo 4.
