Forerunner Light Rifle – already fan-prototyped
Okay, this is silly-fast… but DaFrontlineTrooper has actually created a replica of the Forerunner Light Rifle, first shown to the public a couple of weeks ago. It’s not perfect – but geez, he learned of its existence 2 weeks ago! Go watch. Thanks, bs angel. Update: Revenant1988 pointed out another new weapon – this time the UNSC Railgun – created by a member of the 405th. Awesome!(Louis Wu 19:26:55 UTC)

Community Member of the Week: A Critical H1T
Every Monday, we feature a community member who does one or more of the following things: routinely goes above and beyond for their fellow forum members, is a positive and active member of the community, and/or sends me mass amounts of cat pictures. This week our Community Member of the Week is A Critical H1T. Read a little more about him below, then hit his profile to learn why he waited until his 4000th post to formally introduce himself!
Gamertag: A Critical H1T.
Origin of gamertag: As you can tell by my not-so-subtle name and title, I love Pokemon (haters going to hate) and play/understand those games competitively. Most would scoff at the idea of seeing the words “competitive” and “Pokemon” together but I assure you, these games are deep and strategic but deceptively simple. Natures, predicting, movesets, roles, IV/EVs, team composition, and team synergy are all important in battling and not just spamming Hyper Beam or Draco Meteor. If you are interested in learning more, feel free to ask :).
Favorite Halo game: That would have to Halo 2. I remember the hype behind this game and while I didn’t play online due to lack of internet, the Campaign was great (despite cliffhanger) and the many LAN parties made up for it.
Favorite game types: Invasion, TU Team Slayer, Team Hotshot, Boomball, Anniversary, Race, and Capture the Flag.
Halo playing style (offense, defense, sniper, driver, etc.): The balanced, jack of all trades, master-of-none kind of player. I prefer using the most consistent weapons like the BR/DMR and power weapons but if need be, I’ll make do with other weapons as well. Just keep me away from any kind of vehicle. My awareness on the gunner seat leaves much to be desired.
Casual or Competitive: A mix of both. I am no MLG player nor can I devote that much time to the craft beyond learning weapon timers, power positions, and spawns. However, I remember this is still a video game and it’s all about how much enjoyment you can get at the end of the day.

Podtacular 293 – Halo 4 at E3 2012

From Dust Storm:
June 4 was the first day of E3 2012, and what better way to start off the Xbox Media Briefing than with a live-action trailer and a Halo 4 Campaign demo! 343 made a huge impression on everyone and put up an awesome show. There are so many tidbits from the demo, including the new Promethean enemies and weapons, the joining of the Infinity and Master Chief in the Campaign, Cortana’s rampancy and much more. We tried to hit all the topics of information that came out on the first day of E3, but we are sure to see more throughout the duration of the expo. Community member UnrealCh13f joins us for this show, as well as short guest appearances from Nak3dEli and Greenskull. Enjoy!

HaloCommunity.com Introduces Halo Missions
From HC SLIK:HaloCommunity.com is proud to introduce Halo Missions!
Halo Missions are the culmination of months of work here at Halo Community, both in programming and research. We have many missions live currently, and you can expect to see at least one new mission for “Mission Monday”. We are currently designing missions for Halo: Reach, however you can expect to also see missions for Halo 4!
What are they?
They are like beefed-up Daily Challenges related to just a game or two. You get points and player page awards and compete with your friends for bragging rights. Take a look at the BTB Team of One mission.
How does it work?
Go to a mission detail by clicking a link on the Mission Control page, read the debriefing, and then submit a link.
Are there Leaderboards?
We are currently planning out the leaderboards. You will be able to filter by game, difficulty, mission type, and even filter for only your halocommunity.com friends, as well as do an in-depth player-to-player comparison. Leaderboards will default to the most recent Halo game, even though an overall leaderboard can be pulled.
Which mission will you choose to accept?

The Fallen Needs Your Help – This Week!
Whoa. I’ve been keeping an eye on the Kickstarter page for The Fallen, the Halo fan film project we most recently mentioned last week (and which we added a sidebar link to as well) – there’s just one week left in their fundraising cycle, and as of yesterday, it wasn’t looking great. However, overnight they’ve received a $5,000 pledge, putting them less than $2,000 from their goal – it’s in reach! And you can help! Swing by, pledge a few bucks. 100 fans pledging $20 each would do the trick – and if the project is funded, that $20 would net you an 11×17 poster to boot. The trailers they’ve released so far (they’re linked from their Kickstarter page) show real promise – see if you can help make this project a reality! Update: YOU DID IT! As of the time of this update (4:30pm, they’ve passed the $10,000 mark! You guys rock.(Louis Wu 13:12:54 UTC)

How about a ‘Team Ordinance Drop’?
RC Master decided to take a look at ordnance drops, and see if he could come up with a way that would make them seem fairer to him than what we’ve seen so far in Halo 4. Interesting read!(Louis Wu 13:09:14 UTC)
