  • GI Photo Tour Of Bungie

    Bungie logo

Steve Peterson at Gamesindustry.biz has put up a Photo Tour of the new offices Bungie is developing Destiny in. Of the things I didn’t know about the building, this one was the most interesting:

Parsons related how they had to use the second-largest crane in the country to lower the refrigeration units onto the roof; he said they were afraid they’d have to use a helicopter, which would have meant shutting down a wide area of the city, but fortunately that wasn’t needed. Refrigeration and air conditioning are important due to the massive server infrastructure required by Bungie’s operations; six huge units occupy much of the roof space.

Sounds like Bungie has big infrastructure plans around Destiny, far more than just XBL matchmaking.

  • Best of the Community – a Halo 4 Montage

Edge sent word of a new Halo 4 montage he put together, using clips from the HaloTracker community. Nice synching with the music, and some sweet gameplay! Go watch. (Louis Wu 22:11:25 UTC)

  • Introducing Australian Rules Soccer

Over at AchievementHunter.com, Jack and Ray face off for another game of PIG – some pretty fun-looking maps this time around! Watch it on AH.com, or YouTube. Thanks, Nikko B201.(Louis Wu 22:11:02 UTC)

  • Have Black Light, Will See Faces

Kotaku has the story of a pretty cool little feature that Bungie included in the printed materials that came with the Limited Edition of Halo: Reach. (They call it an easter egg – I’m not sure I agree with that. Looks like an identifying hologram to me, it’s just not visible unless you use a black light.) Either way – it’s pretty slick! Thanks, GryphonOsiris.(Louis Wu 22:09:08 UTC)

At it’s heart, Halo has always been a game about custom settings from day one. Being able to customize your experience was the cornerstone to how we play Halo today in the multiplayer space. Since the advent of Forge in Halo 3, customs have skyrocketed to some of the most fun, competitive, crazy and just plain odd combinations of map variants and game types. On the podcast today is founder Insane54 and staff member Vincent Torre from Halo Customs to talk about their efforts to highlight the creative customs community and talk about the current standing of custom games in Halo 4. With the announcement of the just released web-based file share, they have their work cut out for them. Enjoy
