A look at the making of the Halo 4 Terminals
A press release for a product called iPi Soft led to a couple of interesting articles about the personnel (and software) behind the Halo 4 Terminals. The Sequence Group, the design studio responsible for the terminals, used both full-motion capture (using iPi Soft) and low-budget alternatives like Kinect units to put together the final product we saw when the game was released. (If you haven’t seen the Terminals, we have them archived in our Cutscene Library.) Always nice to get a peek behind the curtain! (Louis Wu 21:01:03 UTC)

Community Member of the Week: A Blues fan
Every Monday, we feature a community member who does one or more of the following things: routinely goes above and beyond for their fellow forum members, is a positive and active member of the community, and/or sends me mass amounts of cat pictures. This week our Community Member of the Week is A Blues fan. Read a little more about him below, then hit his profile to learn the story behind his love for the blues!

Gamertag: A Blues fan.
Origin of Gamertag: I’m a Chelsea FC fan. They’re a football/soccer club in the English Premiership. Their nickname is ‘The Blues’, hence my name. I do also like Blues music, though, so that works too!
Current clan/community: Halo Waypoint.
Halo game(s) you are currently playing: Halo 4, Halo Wars.
Favorite map, game type and playlist: I love playing FFA Regicide on Haven as I find that game type and map combo pretty manic and fast paced.
Least favorite map, game type and playlist: Probably Team Snipers on any map as I find I’m only good with a sniper if people don’t move and I have a few seconds to line up the shot; i.e. I suck with the Sniper.
Preferred control scheme: Default; sensitivity: 7; non-inverted.
Halo weapon specialty/preference: I’m trying to increase my use of the difficult weapons as I enjoy having goals to complete and I’m currently trying to get weapon commendations. I’ve mastered the Plasma Pistol, Storm Rifle and Pulse Grenades as I thought I’d try with the hardest ones first! I’m currently working through Suppressor.
Halo playing style (offense, defense, sniper, driver, etc.): I’m pretty much a Lone Wolf and like to do my own thing in games. I used to worry about my K/D in objective games but now I just relax more, have fun and go for the objective as well, which means I’m more offensive nowadays.
Favorite Halo character: Master Chief, of course! Although I do like the Rookie and Buck from ODST and think Lasky is a great character, too.
Favorite Halo book: Contact Harvest was a nice story with the relationship between the two AI playing out the way it did (nice in a sad way).
Favorite Halo quote: “When I joined the corps, we didn’t have any fancy-schmanzy tanks, we had sticks! Two sticks and a rock for the whole platoon – and we had to share the rock!”
Anything else we should know? I’m a father of three who’s been with Halo since Halo: CE launched on the original Xbox. My two sons like playing Halo with me, but the wife and daughter aren’t really interested, being more into their Wii fitness/singing games. My first online experience was Halo 2. I have over 11,500 games of Halo 3 and 4,500 games of Reach under my belt. I have all Xbox-related Halo achievements except for Runnin’ the Show on Halo Wars, which is proving to be quite elusive!

The Bottom of the Elevator, Remastered
The Superwaffle came in with another ridiculous Halo 3 trick – a drop to the bottom of the Crows Nest final elevator. It took 6 equipment jumps to make it down there (with 4 separate players) – I’m amazed it only took them 3 hours. Go watch the video!(Louis Wu 22:34:00 UTC)

The Wearing of the Green
Wow, fun. Looks like several playlists are reflecting the mood of St. Patrick’s Day today – with armor color forced to green. Awesome! Thanks to MacGyver10 for pointing it out, and to Kal for providing a number of entertaining screenshots on GrifballHub!(Louis Wu 22:27:24 UTC)

A Warthog on Cairo Station… for real!
Grumpy sent word of a really bizarre Halo 2 trick recently finished by DrBizz – apparently, a warthog can be found on Cairo Station, without modding! (It had been found back in 2006, by a modder – but nobody ever expected it to be seen in a non-modded game.) It’s invisible except when zoomed in, and you can’t move it – but you CAN honk the horn and shoot the turret. Weird! (There’s a thread at Alt-Gaming if you want to ask questions.)(Louis Wu 19:07:58 UTC)

Halo 4 Collector’s Game Guide for Cheap
If you looked at the Halo 4 Collector’s Edition Strategy Guide, and said “$40 is too much for that” (or even “Amazon’s got it for $27 – still too much”), you might want to swing by Best Buy right now and pick it up for $7! Thanks, CyReN.(Louis Wu 14:32:03 UTC)

The 2012 Lars Cup
Last year, at PAX Prime, a bunch of Halo fans got together and celebrated international chocolate. This event has been covered before – but Greenskull from ReadyUpLive went just a little farther. If you were there, this video will bring back fantastic memories. If you weren’t, you’ll wish you were. (Unless you don’t like chocolate. In which case you’re a bad person and you should feel bad.)(Louis Wu 15:38:52 UTC)

New Bungie Mail Sack; No Ides Of March Joke
Nope, not doing one.
Bungie’s latest Mail Sack is up. Here’s a highlight:
MastaSin In Destiny, can we play as the aliens or are we locked to the human race? And if we are, why are we locked to the human race? What’s the reason?
Deej Not all of the aliens in Destiny are evil, just like not all humans are good. We’ve barely scratched the surface on the character and customization options you’ll have access to in Destiny, but we’re not going to dig in any deeper today.
I believe one of the early IGN stories seemed to indicate that players would only be humans, but this seems to cast a bit of doubt.
