Grain of Salt Not Included
Kotaku ran an op-ed piece this morning regarding one man’s experience with contract work for a game developer, specifically with Certain Affinity on Halo 4. It’s certainly a mixed bag of impressions that may leave you either a touch flustered or perhaps just scratching your head. One can never be completely sure when reading only one side of the story, but it’s an interesting read nonetheless, just take it with the appropriate seasoning. If you’d like to discuss it on our forum, gamerguy2002 started a thread you can join.(GrimBrother One 23:55:00 UTC)

Assault on the Domain Name
Grizzlei brought to our attention some very interesting news via Joystiq. It appears that Microsoft has been busy registering domain names that center around the name Halo: Spartan Assault. No further word at this time, but it makes the lead up to E3 that much more interesting!(GrimBrother One 23:51:35 UTC)

ASE Ep. 30: Defend This! Marathon 1 lvl 4
Leela has produced three chips to replace the damaged ones and reactivate Marathon’s automated defense system. On the way, Narcogen and Blackstar notice similarities in both enemy and level design between Marathon and Halo.
BONUS: Narc reattempts the failed grenade climb from the last level and talks about how the Marathon 1 scenario had to be altered to suit the changed physics model of the Marathon Infinity engine on which Aleph One is based. To see the climb performed in the original Marathon engine running on Mac OS 9, see this video from the Vidmaster’s Challenge on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mVt482t4514
At 01:52 you can see the player arrive at the room and start to clear it. The actual climb starts at 03:08.This podcast uses:

Podtacular 371: Weapon Tuning Complete
Download | Shownotes
For the last two months, Waypoint has been giving us updates in their weekly bulletins on the weapon tuning undergoing for Halo 4, hoping to restore some balance to the weapons in the Halo sandbox. Thanks to the efforts of the community and the feedback 343i has received through their forums, we now have the final set of changes of the weapon tuning. Granted, the actual numbers are not supplied for all the changes, but having a final picture gives us a good picture of what’s to come in the next few days. Waypoint is also holding a community playdate on Monday when the update drops. Enjoy
