Managing XPectations.
So, not too long ago, Bungie announced that Halo 2 would be coming out on Windows Vista – and a lot of people griped that they didn’t want to upgrade their operating system just to play Halo 2. Stuntmutt takes the ‘if you can’t beat ’em, laugh at ’em’ tack in today’s One One Se7en.

HCEC Season 3, Ep 1
Season 3 of the Halo CE Chronicles kicked off yesterday, with ‘The Valley of the Forerunners, Part 1’ – swing by the HCEC website to grab your copy. This one picks up where season 2 left off, and is the first in 11 parts. Nice scenery, and a great kickoff into the new season’s plotline. Hmm… no download links in that news post, so after reading about the release, be sure to stop by the Videos page. Thanks to Dennis Powers and PsycoJoe for letting us know.

Undefeated at Mario Tennis
Player of the week this week, over at MLGPro.com, is Gandhi – a member of the number two team out of last weekend’s Nationals. Go check out what makes him tick. Thanks, 3Suns.

Why does the cake smell like baby oil?
RedvsBlue Episode 74, ‘Right To Remain Silenced’, has been released for sponsors, a bit later than expected… but man, it was worth it. My favorite character is back… and as fun as ever. If you’re a sponsor, go grab it now. If you’re not… it should be out by Thursday or so. Thanks to spartaneric for the heads-up.

The sweet smell of green – er, white
MLG has put up an article showing the winners from last weekend’s National Championships – lots o’ cash! Check it out. Thanks, 3Suns.

Drive-Thru
Dang, meant to get to this yesterday, forgot. Omg A Fish submitted ‘Drive-Thru’, a Tenacious D skit set to Halo, to the MPRRS – and it would have passed, except for one reviewer (who didn’t even really seem to dislike it, but gave it a dismal score anyway). It’s a tiny film (just over 6 mb), and pretty funny, and Omg A Fish got hosting for the WMP9 version at a few different places… so I’m putting up a QuickTime version for those who need/want it. (If you swing by the Halo2Forum.com thread for this movie, you’ll find a ton of people who downgrade it because ‘it sounds really close to Jack Black’. It is Jack Black; the soundtrack is right off the album. Only the visuals are Halo-related.)

Grunt and Glide
Se7en One let us know about a small animation he created – a Grunt, and one of the Quadwings from Delta Halo. QuickTime format, 22 mb. Check it out!

Marine Armor for Auction
Ross Mills found a UNSC Marine armor set for sale on eBay(uk). It’s not completely finished – but a bunch of it is. (I’m wondering what happened to the model’s arm…) Four days left, nobody’s bid yet.

Oh boy
Believe it or not, Mr. Seropian is actually working on a new reality TV show for FOX broadcasting!
I’m very very interested to see how this gets pulled off.

Halo used in a study on stupid people
sonik son sent us a link that’s pretty darned tangential to Halo… but Halo IS involved, so here you go. Over at MarginalRevolution.com, there’s a blog entry about a study that compared higher prices with free shipping vs lower prices with expensive shipping to see which attracted buyers faster. (Turns out we’re stupid, and will pay $5 + $6 shipping more quickly than we’ll pay $10 + $0 shipping.) Halo was one of the items used in the eBay sellathon. (See? I told you it was tangential.)

H2O Federation Kicks Off
Swing by the website of the Professional Gamers League of America to read about the new H2O Federation. Instead of a series of (relatively) unrelated tournaments, they’re setting up a league, similar to the NFL, where teams will compete all season long. It was only a matter of time…

Submit stuff for Episode 53: The Halo 3 and Other Games Show!
UPDATE: Episode 53 has been recorded and will be out early next week. Episode 52 will be out in the next few days. 52 and 53 turned out awesome! We’ll get caught up.
Episode 52 hath been recorded and behold: it was good. It shall be out this week. In the mean time, faithful listeners, it’s time to get your stuff in for the Halo 3 show! “What kind of ‘stuff,’ Foo Mo?” I’m glad you asked…
If I were Halo 3, what would I look like?
If Bungie called you up and said, “hey, we’re in a bind here. We need your advice on features for Halo 3.” What would you say? Well, I can’t speak for the awesome Bungie studios, but they may very well be listening. So if you could design Halo 3, how would you design it? What mistakes would you avoid? What features would you add? How would you change it from Halo 2? Let us know by clicking submit news and tips on the right side. Leave your gamertag and we may put it on the show!
If I were trapped in a basement while aliens ravaged the earth and I could only play one game and it wasn’t Halo 2…
What would it be? Ok make it 2 games, or however many you really like. Let us know what you like best about these games and we may put them on the show! Click that submit news and tips button again. Come on, what are you waiting for? Do it! Do it now!!

Eenk Eenk Eenk!
Over at Bungie.net you’ll find a pretty cool story about a Cosplayer who won some awards with his Elite costume – along with cool pictures showing the costume itself, and how he pulled off the whole reverse-knee thing. Check it out! (I don’t even need to visit our forum to know that there’s a FIRST post from Frankie…)

The Mombasa Massacre
Jamie98s is turning out to be one of the top moviemakers in the Halo universe; I can’t remember a film he’s made that I didn’t like. His latest work, The Mombasa Massacre, blew through the MPRRS without a scratch. It’s a slightly different take on his last piece, Chaos on the Creek; this one also tells the story of two factions that lived in peace until violence broke out… but this time, it’s a third faction causing the trouble. Cinematography rocks, and the huge battlescenes are REALLY well-done. This one’s a watcher. It’s big – 12:30 long, almost 100 mb to download… but worth it. Grab ‘The Mombasa Massacre’ in WMP9 format or QuickTime format. If you make machinima, study it.
