Remastering The Classics: Inside the Noble Subway Station
The SuperWaffle stopped in with word of a remaster of a Halo Reach trick – getting inside the Noble Subway Station. It was done a few years ago… but not to TSW’s satisfaction. A new method, coupled with some ingenious workarounds for existing problems, led to this latest release. Go watch!(Louis Wu 23:58:45 UTC)

NECA reveals prototype Master Chief motorcycle helmet
The above video showcases a work-in-progress sculpture of a Master Chief Motorcycle Helmet, made by NECA! It is a sculpt prototype and is not final.
With the announcement of Halo: The Master Chief Collection, NECA thought this would be the perfect time to reveal a surprise! NECA’s Master Chief Motorcycle Helmet is still a work in progress, but they are excited to share this video.
Whether you’re on a Honda dirt bike, a custom Harley or a vintage Vespa, the Halo Master Chief Motorcycle Helmet will offer the full-face protection preferred by the Master Chief (and savvy bikers everywhere). AI not included.
The below graphic displays some of the helmet’s potential functionality. The NECA Master Chief Motorcycle Helmet is slated to arrive in 2015.

Podtacular 428: E3 2014 Recap

The Electronic Entertainment Expo was certainly one of the best experiences I’ve ever had. It was a wonderful journey of seeing and experiencing new things, meeting new people and catching up with familiar faces. While the announcement of the Master Chief Collection was perhaps the biggest news, there were other things to be seen at E3. After the last day at E3, I decided to do a short recap podcast with Greenskull and Nak3d Eli about our E3 adventures this year. Huge thanks to 343 Industries for allowing me to go to E3 and have a truly breath-taking experience and I hope to see everyone again next year.

Nailing Down the Map List
Der Flatulator stopped in with a pretty cool new page – he’s made it easy to see which maps are included with the Master Chief Collection’s multiplayer (and where they came from), in a really slick interface! Check it out. (He gives props to profhalo’s diligence on this subject – take a look at profhalo’s original collage!) (Louis Wu 21:09:33 UTC)

Tying you up and leaving you on the doorstep
343’s presentation at E3 this year made it pretty clear that everything being developed right now for the Halo franchise is tied together pretty closely – if you swing by Eurogamer, you’ll see a nice summary of some of the connections. Bonnie Ross discusses some of the interweavings and developments we’ll be seeing next year. Give it a read!(Louis Wu 21:05:22 UTC)

Halo Community Member Spotlight: Snickerdoodle

Every other Monday, we feature an individual who is a positive and active member of the Halo community. This week the spotlight turns to Snickerdoodle!
Question: What’s your gamertag and its origin?
Answer: I’m actually on my second gamertag. My original gamertag was a spin off a nickname I got in high school but I was wanting some change. I like baking and snickerdoodles are a personal favorite so “snickerdoodle” seemed like a good idea. My service tag is a throwback to my original tag so it’s still a part of me. 🙂
Q: Tell us about the first time you played Halo.A: Haha oh man…So my dad had just come home from one of his deployments to Iraq or Afghanistan or somewhere and he’d played Halo downrange. My cousin got an Xbox for Christmas and my dad made me play some Combat Evolved with him and I was not a fan. I HATED it. I dreaded when dad would say “Hey, time to play some Halo!” because it just wasn’t fun for me.
Then I realized inverted controller settings were a thing and it was like a switched was flipped. Suddenly those endless games on Hang ’em High weren’t unbearable anymore. I could aim without trying to shoot myself in the feet or wildly the sky.
PS – I blame Goldeneye for my inverted settings. A girl never forgets her first FPS.

Another look at the MCC

Whoa. Hay.
One of the things I miss about the very early days of our forum was the rampant speculation – the crack pipe was pulled out, and outrageous (but sometimes spot-on) ideas were put forth. Grizzlei did some intriguing conjecturing last week, in which the Halo titles were tied to a Biblical concept, with some interesting ideas sprouting from the merger. Go read her first post (and the followup, that contained the part that got cut off when she posted too quickly). Right or wrong, it’s the wild speculation that’s fun. Go enjoy! Halo 2 Saved Films – Confirmed
One of the cool little tidbits about the Master Chief Collection that we haven’t spotlighted came from Joystiq back on Wednesday – it looks like Halo 2 Saved Films are in. Yay! (We should have more details about the Collection soon; it’s just a matter of finding the time to write things up.) Thanks to DHalo for pointing this out. (Louis Wu 21:45:08 UTC)

Halo CE Shenanigans
AytonHunter stopped in with word of a video showing off some Halo Custom Edition singleplayer mods. Watching felt like traveling back in time to the mid-90s, where mods like this were common for games like Marathon, Unreal, and Quake. Nostalgia!(Louis Wu 21:41:51 UTC)

Compensating
mastrbiggy has done a fantastic job of keeping our front-page from looking like a blank piece of paper… but there were a few tidbits released over the week of E3 that got overlooked. Today’s the day to rectify that. First up: Adult Swim’s Robot Chicken took a pretty juvenile look at the relationship between MC and Cortana, but in the end, I laughed. (Link is to the mobile version, which doesn’t seem to require a login to watch.) Thanks, SEspider.(Louis Wu 21:31:22 UTC)

Reclaimer Radio
With the deeply tragic news of HaloGAF Radio’s demise earlier this year a group of Halo fans decided to find a way to fill the hole in our hearts. Mix, Wahrer, Ghazi, and aZooJoo have come together to bring you Reclaimer Radio. The most shocking aspect of all of this is that Tashi is now considered an ex-Halo pro. Go listen!(mastrbiggy 20:49:54 UTC)
