Spartan Assault Music – Loopable
Very cool – Bizargh stopped by to let our forum know that he’d been playing around with the Spartan Assault music files, and created in-game edits of them that can be used as seamless loops – pretty awesome! The full collection is pretty large, but there are some YouTube versions you can listen to to see what you’re getting into. Check it out! (Louis Wu 22:02:25 UTC)

Halo Scale Comparison – Now Updated with Halo 4 Objects
Back in 2005, Stephen Loftus created a Scale Comparison in Halo article – showing you how various structures and vehicles and characters fit together, size-wise. Over the years, he’s improved this project, adding new items from later games and slotting them into the existing structure. He’s done this again, and it’s a HUGE advance; at the time of the last update (January 2013), there were 27 pages of images. Now there are almost 50. Swing by and dive in – it’s fascinating! (If you’ve explored the collection before, you’ll want to scroll down to the bottom of the main page – click on the Ark to get started on the cascading scale pages. That’s where all the goodies are hiding.)(Louis Wu 21:46:05 UTC)

Summer Games Done Quick – Full Halo Run Now Archived
If you, like me, allowed goatrope’s speedrun of Halo PC, performed for charity a couple of days ago, to pass you by without tuning in, shame on you! (And on me!) However, Ibeechu stopped by with links to rectify the problem. You can still donate (SGDQ is still running!), or you can just jump over to YouTube and watch goat go. It’s a really, really enjoyable experience; goatrope does an amazing job of commentating as he’s running, and STILL manages to focus on the tricks he’s performing to shave time off. He didn’t beat the world record for a the full game Legendary run (he set that himself a few weeks ago), but he still went sub-2-hours for the full run… amazing! (Ibeechu also put together a highlights reel, which is funny but not really a highlight reel.) (Louis Wu 21:40:40 UTC)

Podtacular 431: Bringing Old School to New School

Many questions have risen since the announcement of the Master Chief Collection at E3 and in last week’s Halo Bulletin, and Bravo does his best to answer as many as possible. There still remains questions to be answered and we’ll undoubtedly find out more when they head to RTX. According to the latest Halo Bulletin, 343 will have a booth and panel at RTX, Halo 2 playable on original Xboxes in CRT TVs where you can play against pros and a campaign demo presentation you can line up to watch. We will also be there so make sure you come by and say, “Hi!” Escalation, Issue 7 is out and a new novel has been announced. Halo: Broken Circle covers the Great Schism and will release a week before the Master Chief Collection. Our thread of the week is the Halo 5 Beta topic started by forum member PTBRULES. Special thanks to Biowolf for joining us for the show this week.

To (1080)p or not to (1080)p
Over at Inquisitr, there’s a summary of a post Frank O’Connor made on NeoGAF recently – he was explaining why the E3 shots of Halo 2 Anniversary weren’t a full 1080p. It seems that the build we saw earlier this month was only 900p, because the second frame buffer (the one that allows you to be able to switch back and forth between original and new graphics) is eating a bunch of the available resources. They’re still planning for the final version to be 1080p – but there aren’t any promises. (All OTHER products in the Master Chief Collection are 1080p; it’s just H2A that has this issue.) The article spawned a discussion on our own forum (thanks, Moorpheusl9) with some pretty firm convictions being expressed… go throw your own two cents in! (Remember, though, that the goal, in November, is an H2A running at 1080p – so keep in mind you’re discussing ideas, not facts.)(Louis Wu 20:38:47 UTC)

This Ring Will Make Us Brothers-in-Law
Beorn stopped by the forum a couple of days ago to share some pictures from his sister’s wedding. (No, he’s not just showing off family photos – she and her husband met online, playing Halo, and the gaming played a role in their nuptuals! Check out the heartwarming story.(Louis Wu 20:30:51 UTC)

Cleaning up odds and ends
A couple of rough days at the homestead means limited online time; let’s catch up. gamerguy2002 pointed out a new vid from Lord Zedd – more digging in the code for Halo 4 has turned up a few unused pieces of armor in the code – swing by to see ’em. (They’re pretty similar to existing stuff, which might be why they weren’t used.) (Louis Wu 20:27:31 UTC)
