Submit Stuff for Episode 86: Podtacular Night at the Apollo
Only a few days until we record the next show, so we should probably ask for something to talk about.
Reporting live from my living room
We’ll be catching everyone up with the latest Halo universe news and Halo community news this episode. But we need your help to make sure we’re not missing anything! Something going on in the community (Podtacular or otherwise)? Let us know! Just click “Submit News and Tips” on the right side of the page and tell us. Don’t forget to leave your gamertag too so we can give you credit.
I found this glitch to run fast enough so that Halo becomes a giant hampster wheel
Got a cool glitch? This is the show to talk about it. Send in your glitches with your gamertag and if it’s cool, we’ll put it on the show!
Yo momma’s so dumb she sees a hunter and asks for directions
Got a good Halo joke? Send it in with your gamertag! This is what we’ll be talking about most of the show. Here’s some ideas: You’re momma’s so fat/dumb/old/ugly, You know you play too much (or not enough) Halo if, Yo know you’re a noob if, etc. etc.
Deadline is Thursday Night
at about 5:30pm EST. The earlier you get your tip in, the more likely we’ll read it on the show. So hurry up!

Episode 85: Customs and Callins with special guest: Keith from Gamercast Network
Download | Show Notes
It’s time for customs and callins with a full cast: JVB, Rist Peblo, Keith from Gamercast Network, and CapnKrunk on the voice mails! (all I can say is L-O-L!) We’re talking about the top few custom games, voice mails from the month, and tales from the foxhole. Sorry my mic is too loud in this, I’ll fix that next time. Pod Art comes from Paul Maestri this time. OMG it’s me in Kriss Kross clothes!! Thanks to Ciclonic for editing. Show’s about 1:16. Enjoy it!

Simulation 2: Snowbound
Simulation 2: Snowbound tells a story of an army simulation – a live-fire exercise where nothing is real. (It’s the followup to HollywoodNHouse’s Simulation). The MPRRS liked it – so we’re hosting a WMP9 version (40.9 mb) and a QuickTime version (37.9 mb) – grab the one that works best for you!(Louis Wu 21:57:32 UTC)

Karma – more machine than man
MLG has a nice writeup of the 1v1 bracket (which Karma dominated) in New York; I find it interesting to compare how the top 1v1 players do in team situations. Thanks, 3Suns.(Louis Wu 21:50:09 UTC)

Operation: Backwash Ep0
Treeskunk Productions have released Outpost: Backwash, Episode 0; it ties this series together with their older ‘Outpost: Coagulation’ series. It’s available in a wide variety of formats from their Media page – go pick one! Thanks, trigger119.(Louis Wu 20:58:34 UTC)

Lost: Halostyle Ep 9 – Protect This
Haloplayer submitted ‘Lost: Halostyle Episode 9 – Protect This’ to the MPRRS a couple of days ago; it passed with flying colors. Great quality, great filming, great audio, and it’s funny to boot. Go grab a copy – it’s available in WMP9 format (47.1 mb) and QuickTime format (48.6 mb). This is definitely one of my favorite ongoing series!(Louis Wu 14:18:03 UTC)

If you believe
wheeler found a pixelart community that’s populating the moon with familiar characters. If you scroll over to the black 2001 Obelisk, at the top of the image, and then scroll down from there a ways, you’ll run into a familiar character. (Look at the whole pic, there’s some amazing stuff in there.)(Louis Wu 14:10:05 UTC)

Tournament Writeup for non-pro gamers
DPAD has an interesting writeup of the Upper Bracket Finals in New York last weekend (the first matchup between Final Boss and Carbon) – it’s written from the perspective of someone who’s not a huge part of the console gaming community, so you might get a better understanding of what’s going on if you don’t generally follow this stuff. It does a great job of letting you follow along with the action – check it out! (Remember, though, that this was the match that sent Carbon to the Loser’s Bracket – where they battled back to face FB AGAIN, and win.)(Louis Wu 14:06:57 UTC)

Last Dance (of the Demon)
More goodness from Mothergoat – he released ‘Last Dance (of the Demon)’, a new piece he composed for a Halo CE map called Akathisia. He’s not sure when the map’s coming out, though, so he’s releasing the song now. Almost 6 minutes long, 10.6 mb in MP3 format… great piece. Go listen! (We’ll mirror it if there are any problems – just let us know.)(Louis Wu 14:02:01 UTC)

He’s a sneaky one, that Finn
Spartan Jag noticed that Finn’s been stealthily updating the Halo Story page over the past couple of weeks – you even gotta go back into September to see all the stuff we didn’t comment on. Go read!(Louis Wu 13:44:55 UTC)

Comic Relief
Looks like it’s the day for Halo references in cartoons. demus found an entry in a contest that depicts what most of us have wanted to do, from time to time, on XBL… and BitMaP shared a comic he’d drawn that looks at some potential work opportunities for Jeff Steitzer (the ‘Voice of God’, who announces Halo Multiplayer). Whee!(Louis Wu 13:36:54 UTC)

Reminder: Xbox Live down today
I’m sure you all know by now, but just in case you weren’t paying attention, the entire Xbox Live service will be down for maintenance today 10/17, including Xbox.com. While there haven’t been any details on what will be changing, it’s already been stated that this is not the Fall dashboard update. Sorry, 360 owners!
Otherwise, look for things to return to normal tomorrow.
In the meantime, you can always hang out here in our forums or hey, play some Halo 2 campaign and finally locate all those skulls!

Weekly Porridge #40: Stupid, Whiny, Annoying Twits
This week we deal with the newly Ranked SWAT Playlist.
Don’t be alarmed by the slight aesthetic changes. All I’ve changed is the border so it looks a little more professional. The characters all look just like they did before and nothing else will be changed!
