WA 2v2 Tourney
Relentless Azn stopped by to point out an upcoming 2v2 Slayer tournament this Saturday in Kent Washington – check his link for more details. (Hint for folks posting updates like this on our forum – at least say WHERE your tournament is! The location of the game store in question was not only not in his forum post, but it was nowhere on the front page of the website!)(Louis Wu 20:03:13 UTC)

Halomega Updates
Mike, from Halomega, let us know that there’s lots of new content up at their site. There’s a new videos section up (they’ll host your member vids, as well), they’ve got a new Sig of the Week contest, and they’re looking for your opinion on Halo 3 as a hype-killer.(Louis Wu 19:59:35 UTC)

Halo 2 on XP – you’re on your own
So, we mentioned a hack recently that will let you play Halo 2 Vista on Windows XP – and today, a group known as Razor 1911 released their own crack (I read about it here first, but Cody Miller saw it at Next-Gen) – in response, Dennis Powers, of HaloMaps, has issued a statement. He believes that playing the game through buggy emulation, with no support, is a bad idea; he’s not going to be hosting any of the cracks. Finding them won’t be hard, if you want them – but as one of the largest sites for PC-based Halo creations, he’s saying it’s not worth it. (Louis Wu 19:51:05 UTC)

I just wanted to take a quick break from Episode 100 production (which should be out tomorrow night, barring any unforeseen tsunamis, alien invasions, or meteors crashing into the office) to post today’s comic. As previously noted, site member Gavino has…

Gamers, Geeks, and Google . Episode #1.
It is interesting how internet users find our website. Most all of our traffic comes from Google searches. How people end up here is sometimes quite funny. I am afraid that my leet search engine optimization skills have owned your internets.
Allow me to further assist you. If you came here and didn’t find the information for which you were looking, take a look below. You’ll find my replies to your search terms. All of these searches occured in the last 12-hours.
- "halo 3 countdown timer" – 16807. 2401. 343. 117. 49. 7.
- "valhalla military ranks" – I’m sorry. The military of Valhalla could not be reached for a comment. They were called up to restrain coupon-trading women marching in support of calling their newest mode of transportation the "Person Cannon".
- "running red alert 2 at 1280 1024 resolution" – Holy crap! Should I alert the authorities? Hmm. I seen me a mermaid once. I even seen me a shark eat an octopus. But I ain’t never seen no phantom Russian submarine. All clear.
- "What Will Play halo 2 vista" – That’s easy. Most fanboys. Well, fanboys of HALO…that are big PC gamers…that have a high end PC…that figured out which version of Windows Vista to buy…that adopted Windows Vista…who didn’t read any of the reviews that the game is getting…then randomly discovered HALO 2 Vista on the store shelves of Circuit City …then got HALO 2 Vista to actually work…and doesn’t care about Games for Windows – Live lack of features. That’s the profile of the average one that will play HALO 2 Vista.
- "halo3.com" – Cool website. Looks different lately, though. Odd. Will investigate.
- "top ten pc games" – 1. Solitaire. 2. Freecell. 3. Pinball. 4. Minesweeper. 5. World of Warcraft. 6. Spades. 7. Pokemon Kitchen Extreme. 8. Pokemon Bathroom Adventures. 9. Pokemon City. 10. Counter-strike.
- "cool songs to play on the guitar" – She’d like to hear "More Than Words" by Extreme. Stud.
- "20gb xbox 360 hard drive only showing 2gb available" – It appears your console is in standard working order.
- "create a spartan for halo 3" – I’m already working on it. Got Moljinor?
- "play games and earn gold to use to get prizes" – What in the world are our schools teaching these children? How about: get a job and earn cash then get a bank account?
- "Playing halo 2 vista on xp" – Are you really? That’s so last week. Besides – you sound like you should be posting this to Twitter.
- "can u wear the spartan helmet in the halo 3" – I’ll go ahead and answer this one. Yes. Why yes, you can wear a Spartan helmet…if you are a cat and have opposable thumbs.
- "shadowrun requirements" – 1. Open mind. 2. Don’t read any reviews of the game. 3. Lots of free time. 4. Like deep first person shooters.
- "weapon slide glitch" – How many meta games does Gears of War have?
- "halo 3 claymore grenade" – mod much?
- "Linkin park Min to midnight" – Rumor has it that Gearbox Software produced this album. We are sorry, too. Suggest you throw this one up on eBay as soon as possible.
- "reporting crank calls on cell phone" – This is definitely the place to come. But only if you are getting hundreds of calls each day.
- "my friend cant join my halo pc game" – That’s because your friend should be playing "Brothers in Arms" or "Alien". Right, Randy?
- "xbox live open up nat settings in netgear router" – XBOX Live set you up the bomb. Make you time.
- "youtube master" – I’ve been called a lot of things in my life but never…
- "catan available games for windows" – While it is not available on Games for Windows, it is available for Games for Coffee Tables.
- "society of the ancients" – Good folks. They like drinking goats blood (I herd). Rowdy at times though. Stares at the moon. Oh, seriously. I herd.
- "XBOX 360 monitors" – Monitors what? Complete sentences please. Direct objects are your
- "can x2900 crossfire run on nvidia sli" – Yes, but only if you run one x2900 card. Running two x2900’s in Crossfire mode is not possible on an nVidia SLI chipset. Advice: Get the GeForce 8800GTX for your SLI motherboard or buy DFI’s LAN Party motherboard. It supports Crossfire.
- "how to detect aimbots on halo" – Look for the guy out on the open that’s jumping up and down with the sniper rifle.
- "how to make free xbox live " – If only we knew how to make the XBOX 360 live.
- "top bands not to make guitar hero 80" – Thanks for the news tip.

Hello, Iris? Are you still there?
Over the weekend, I thought maybe I was just too busy to keep up and would come back to a whole new wealth of info on Iris, but after some checking… has nothing really happened in the last five days? Did I miss something? After all the excitement of the last couple of weeks, it seems like the game really has come to a full stop.
Is there something we’re waiting for? Are we expected to find new clues and get the game going again?

HBO Zune Giveaway: Results
Took us a little while to reach everyone, and get all our ducks in a row… but the results for the HBO Zune Giveaway are now online! On top of the 4 Zunes we promised when this whole thing started out, we’ve convinced Bungie to provide some extra prizes – second place in all four categories will receive an awesome metal Carnage Zone street sign, and we’ve provided a special Judges’ Choice award for one entry that we felt had not been properly recognized by the public. (Yes, we can do that. We run this place.) Check out all the details, and download high-resolution versions of the winning movies, on the Contest Results page.(Louis Wu 12:01:07 UTC)

More info (and pics) about Master Replicas guns
A week ago, we mentioned the new stuff coming from Master Replicas – a pair of weapon replicas – but at the time, the only info about these could be found on store sites. Last night, ODSTAdrianFii noticed that some info – and a pair of photos – are now up on the Master Replicas site itself… and man, do those look good. I’m still waiting to find out how big they are – but I must say, they’re gorgeous.(Louis Wu 11:33:50 UTC)

Cross The Party Line
Portions of the Hail to the Chimp website to promote Wideload’s upcoming party game for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 that were previously “coming soon” have just opened. “Meet the Candidates” takes a look at five of the characters, “The Campaign Trail” is a screenshot gallery, and “Campaign Videos” shows the game’s first trailer. The entire site is in Flash, so I can’t direct link to those pages, so just visit chimplove.com and find your own way from there.

JAPAN’S MOST POPULAR FILM COMES TO DVD!
The Ghost in the Shell series reaches feature status in this full-length film, recently Japan’s No. 1 theatrical and home video title. On July 3rd, Manga Entertainment and Bandai Entertainment release the animated GHOST IN THE SHELL: Stand Alone Complex – Solid State Society on DVD. The title will be available in a standard version and steelbook limited edition. SRP for the standard version is $19.97, with the limited edition SRP of $39.97.
The Ghost in the Shell: Solid State Society feature, helmed by Kenji Kamiyama, is the latest entry in the ongoing saga of Public Security Section 9, a select counter-terrorist and crime prevention detail in the year 2034 specializing in cyber-war, now comprised of 20 field operatives with Togusa serving as the unit’s leader. Mysterious suicides by several agents of the scattered Siak Republic confound Section 9, until they catch up with one of the Siak operatives. After a failed hostage-taking, the operative forebodes the arrival of an ultra-hacker calling himself “The Puppet Masterâ€Â, before taking his own life.More feigned suicides are discovered, confirming the involvement of this wizard who is bent on hacking into Siak cyberbrains and directing them to take their own lives. This sets the stage for a thrill-filled unraveling of events that push the resources and will of Section 9 to the brink.
Upon its theatrical release in September 2006, Ghost in the Shell: Solid State Society rocketed to No. 1 at the Japanese box office, and is currently enjoying the same ranking in DVD sales in Japan. Videoscan reports more than 700,000 units of the two feature films and two seasons of the television series have left the shelves since their home video release in Japan.
