Time article generates negative feedback
Interesting. Several days ago, we mentioned an article in the current issue of Time magazine; we made note of the fact that it talked negatively about gamers… and moved on. I guess the paper issue hit the street today – I just saw three articles heaping scorn on the piece. (bits bytes pixels & sprites actually took it most to heart ; the other two articles (at Neoseeker and Playfeed) took their cues from BBPS.) Don’t make fun of gamers!(Louis Wu 23:11:36 UTC)

Stumbled across this thread in the Bungie forums and decided to use our new “Submit New: Link” feature to share. Follow the thread down to Lord Asano’s eloquent reply. (I agree wholeheartedly)

The Tough Run Away
According to MAXCONSOLE, the latest EGM has a tidbit pointing out the smartest and dumbest AIs in upcoming games… Halo 3 takes one of those spots. Care to guess which? And what game gets the other one?(Louis Wu 18:40:07 UTC)

How Halo Changed
Games Radar has an article that looks at eight games that changed dramatically from initial announcement through final product. (I’m not sure you couldn’t find a hundred more, if you looked – but 8 is a fine number.) Thanks, Mike Carson.(Louis Wu 18:06:46 UTC)

More new screens at Radio Shack
Yesterday, we mentioned a set of new screenshots at the Radio Shack page that’s selling Halo 3 preorders. (There were 23, some of which were new.) Today, ComWave lets us know that another batch of 22 are up (a half-dozen or so of which haven’t been seen before).(Louis Wu 17:33:41 UTC)

RT: Relaxed, Refreshed…
—
by
Phew, Did everyone have a relaxing Labor Day? I spent mine playing the incredibly addictive Stuntman: Ignition with Gav, who I’ve learned should never, ever be allowed to drive a motorcycle or semi truck. Today’s comic is below, and has nothing to do with…

Send in stuff for this week’s show: Bioshock special!
—
by
First of all I’m working on this past Tuesday’s show: Video Overload. This one is very time consuming but it will be done soon. In the mean time we gotta get rolling on another show. With Halo 3 just a few short weeks away, there’s not really anything to talk about with Halo 3 right now. But there will be TONS really soon! In the mean time, it’s time for a second try on a shining light among many dull glows in the cluttered game industry.
As far as I know, Bioshock has received higher review scores on average than any other game ever. Do you know the rapture of this game? If so, tell us what you think of it! Tell us your thoughts on the graphics, story (NO SPOILERS!), voice acting, music, ambient sound, art direction, characters, environments, game play, weapons and plasmids, anything you find good about this game. Deadline to get your comments in is tonight at 7pm EST.

Tex talks to WebNation
Webnation’s Episode 12 contains an interview with Kathleen Zuelch, better known to Halo fans as Red vs Blue’s Tex. Great discussion – go watch! (The Halo portion kicks off around 16 minutes in, but the whole episode is entertaining.)(Louis Wu 14:53:30 UTC)

THX Thursday Outing
—
by
I recently visited the new Beauregard’s at University Drive and Memorial Parkway, next to Books-a-Million, and was very impressed. Establishment is large and well-furnished, food is good, and the beer selection is one of the best in town, IMO. Would like to get together there on Thursday night (9/6/07) around 7 PM. Late is fine–come when you can. Reply if interested.

Sony Tells Wiki Halo 3 Won’t Look Better Than Halo 2
—
by
Cole at Lasersharks points out that the Wikiscanner discovered an edit to the entry on Halo 3 that came from teh Sony Computer Entertainmentoffice in the UK. The edit inserted the phrase “although it wont look any better than Halo 2” into the description of the game.
The edit was apparently to the Halo 3 section of the main page for the Halo series and has since been removed.
Thanks to Louis Wu at HBO for the heads-up.

Sony insults the competition on Wikipedia
Awesome. WikiScanner is a tool developed by a guy who was interested in seeing who was doing the anonymous editing on Wikipedia pages. All sorts of interesting information surfaced once people started using it; companies saying good things about their own products, or dissing the competition… Halo’s now on the list. According to this Lasersharks post, derogatory edits to the Halo 3 page on Wikipedia were made from an address that traces back to Sony’s Liverpool Studios. How childish!(Louis Wu 13:13:52 UTC)

More Screenshots, Fewer Errors On Radio Shack Halo 3 Page
—
by
Louis Wu at HBO pointed out that ComWave— apparently responsible for the Radio Shack website that just added a Halo 3 product page— will correct some of the errors in the previous product description, and also added additional screenshots to their gallery. I’ve collected the new shots, with Wu’s gracious technical assistance, in the images gallery.

Maybe we should start writing hatchet jobs, too.
Heh. This article, from Xbox 360 Rally, showed up in my Google Alerts mailbox – it rants about a piece at GameDaily that seems to have been written specifically to drive Halo fans into a tizzy. For that reason, they’ve actually posted the whole article… so you don’t need to visit the original and give them the pageviews they were looking for.(Louis Wu 11:54:10 UTC)

Halo – expanding industries everywhere
The Philadelphia Daily News has an article that discusses how Marvel’s Halo: Uprising series is bringing more new faces to comic books. I guess that might be part of the new strategy to release these every 2 months, instead of every 2 weeks…(Louis Wu 11:48:15 UTC)

Halo 3 to be a supply chain strategy test
Halo makes the news in fields that have nothing to do with video games; DMN Newswire has a story this morning about how Microsoft is using Halo 3 as an example of Microsoft’s ‘world class competency’ in managing supply chains. The question is – can you fill the supply channel with product… and STILL manage to keep it under wraps until Launch Day? I guess we’ll see!(Louis Wu 11:35:41 UTC)
