  • Halo 3 Cutscene Library: Floodgate

Almost didn’t make the day’s cutoff… but the two cutscenes from Floodgate are now posted in our Halo 3 Cutscene Library. The final scene is pretty long…(Louis Wu 22:29:54 UTC)

  • Play Halo 3 for Charity in NJ

  • How Rumours Get Started.

Last week, we mentioned a rumor that seemingly built itself out of nothing – Stuntmutt takes it all one step further, in today’s One One Se7en.(Louis Wu 17:38:59 UTC)

  • Mmmmmm… Pudding

Elnea has gone a bit overboard; Episode 98.2 of her Halo Action Figure Theater (yes, she’s trying to save the good stuff for ep 100, which means we might see a 98.74 one day) involves not just Halo action figures, not just cans of cat food, not just hardware like a lightbox… but PUDDING. Vanilla pudding, to be specific. Ick.(Louis Wu 17:25:41 UTC)

  • Guitar Hero III Quick Impressions (360)

It felt like Christmas Sunday morning when both my wife and I woke up to finally open up Guitar Hero III which we had picked up at 12:00 midnight whilst returning from the HaloWeen BYOS LAN. After being up so late and sleeping in, we didn’t get to start wailing on it until around lunchtime.

Upon opening the box 47after remarked how cool it was to be able to separate the neck of the guitar and how she liked the idea of removable faceplates. The new guitar is slightly heavier, and slightly longer than the old version. This is a plus in my book making it feel (just a bit) more like a real guitar. The only negative I would have to add would be that it appears that the only way to power this thing is with 2 AA batteries. No battery pack looks like it would fit anywhere on the guitar. But it gets the job done.. now it’s time to rock.

All the previous reviews are right: It’s Guitar Hero, except a bit better graphics and new songs. We started on the co-op campaign mode using both the new guitar and the old GHII guitar for the 360. Coop was a blast to play only that we noticed that it appears most of the achievements were only going to player 1. That’s fine as long as you know what is happening before playing through half or the full co-op career.

After playing through a few set lists I convinced 47 to jump onto Xbox Live and play some Face Off. Personally, this turns out to be the most fun in GH I’ve had so far. 47after was able to get 100% on a couple of songs in this mode, wiping away the competition who felt it necessary to play on expert or hard mode (these guys were very good, however couldn’t rack up the points as a 100% x4 multiplier run on medium).

We tried battle mode, but the powerups turned out to be more of a nuisance than a benefit to gameplay in my opinion. The Quick Match feature wasn’t working for us though… it seemed the best way to get in a multiplayer match was to search for customs or host your own game and wait, which I am fine with.

We haven’t completed it yet, but so far we’re enjoying GHIII a lot. If anything, the wireless guitar and new songs are definitely worth purchase price.

  • RvB’s Recovery One kicks off on the web

Recovery One: Part One is now available for Sponsors on the Rooster Teeth website. If you’re not a sponsor, you can grab it for 80 points on Xbox Live (that’s a buck). It picks up (sort of) where Out of Mind left off – I’m not really sure where Wyoming came (back) from… but I’m sure that’ll become clear in later episodes. Go watch!(Louis Wu 14:17:57 UTC)

  • One Small Step for a Spartan…

akemos is selling a Halo door mat he acquired after the Xbox Launch period back in 2001 – if you’re interested, the eBay auction ends in 4 days. (Louis Wu 13:24:08 UTC)

  • Forerunner text?

Interesting… Rox pointed out some writing/symbols/shapes that can be found on a variety of levels, from Sandtrap to Construct – does it mean anything to anyone? (I know as soon as I saw the Sandtrap version, I immediately went looking for the ‘Ancient Halo‘ wallpaper Dave Candland created several years ago – but unfortunately, as soon as I found it, I realized my memory had fooled me; there’s no relation whatsoever.) Just pleasing shapes… or something more?(Louis Wu 13:21:05 UTC)

  • From the Road to the Sky

We missed a level yesterday, in our release of Halo 3 cutscenes, so today you get both Tsavo Highway’s closing cutscene, and The Storm’s closing cutscene. Powerful stuff!(Louis Wu 22:28:49 UTC)

  • Guilt O’ Lantern Reminder

Folks – it’s just three days to Halloween – that’s how much time you’ve got left to submit your entry to our Guilt O’ Lantern contest. CARVE THOSE PUMPKINS!(Louis Wu 22:25:26 UTC)

  • Awesome Angles

Wow, very cool. Cody Miller took a speedrun of Tsavo Highway (done by Simpsons Rule and someone else), and refilmed it in the style of Gran Turismo. It’s four and a half minutes long, and a lot of fun to watch. Go see!(Louis Wu 22:00:05 UTC)

  • Saving the Secret, Parts One and Two

Leader of Blind let us know that Abyss Studios has the first two episodes of their Halo 2 miniseries, ‘Saving the Secret’, online and viewable. Part 1 went up before Halo 3 came out, but Part 2 went live on Friday. It’s Halo 2-based, but pretty well-done. (Louis Wu 21:52:39 UTC)

  • Screens and Comics

TTL Demag0gue let us know about a couple of new projects – the first is a collection of artistic screenshots he’s taken, the second is a Halo-based comic strip he’s building from Halo 3 screenshots. (There are a couple of pages already – the series starts here.) Both projects are pretty high-quality – check ’em out!(Louis Wu 21:13:31 UTC)

  • The Riot 71

Sigafoos let us know that The Riot 71 is now up – 34 minutes, 14 mb, ramblings about the website, the community, and totally non-Halo-related stuff. Brathnok works very hard at making Sigafoos look dumb. You’ll have to decide if he succeeds. (Louis Wu 20:53:38 UTC)

  • RT: Recovery One

Our latest Xbox Live mini-series has officially debuted on a console near you. It\’s called Recovery One and picks up the action right where our last XBL series Out of Mind left off. I am told you can find the video in the ever-expanding RvB section under…
