Woody as Master Chief
Saber-Scorpion, best known for his amazing Lego creations, put together a Halo comic that ties together Halo 3 with Toy Story. (This contains Halo 3 spoilers; don’t follow the link to the comic unless you’ve finished the game.) Pretty funny! Thanks, GoldenElite0.(Louis Wu 10:52:03 UTC)

Egg Hunt at GR
mjolnir15 noticed an article on Halo 3 eggs at GamesRadar; they’ve been culled from around the net, and some aren’t really eggs at all… but it’s a nice collection. (Louis Wu 10:41:58 UTC)

Teaming Up with Halo’s AI
There’s a great article at AiGameDev.com that summarizes the artificial intelligence lessons Bungie learned (and taught) from the Halo series, in the context of making a better video game. It’s really interesting to see how things have evolved; a great example is number 13:“Early versions of Halo’s AI had a short pause between seeing you and recognizing that you were an enemy. This was to allow people to get the jump on the AI or retreat if they were getting in over their heads. Playtest feedback showed that players assumed this Feature was a Bug and they all said it made the AI look dumb.”
Ironically, adding this pause back in for Jackal snipers turned one of the most frustrating points of Halo 2 into a far more enjoyable experience in Halo 3. There are 42 points in all; they provide advice for game developers looking to make smarter AI, and fascinating reading for fans looking to understand how the magic works. Give this a read! Thanks, alexjc.(Louis Wu 10:33:28 UTC)

Halo Movie News – Back on the Table?
s_tygard55 was the first to point out an article suggesting that Microsoft and Peter Jackson might be back at trying to find funding to continue work on the Halo movie. (The one he found is at GamesRadar.) There’s a discussion about this on our forum – MasterChief2829 noticed an article at Computer and Video Games, and Charley117 followed up with an article at Kotaku (who found it at Play). They’re all based on the same basic info – a Jackson representative is telling their side of the story, claiming that the Universal/Fox deal fell apart because the studios asked Microsoft to take a smaller cut at the last minute. If we get more on this, we’ll let you know!(Louis Wu 10:15:52 UTC)

Innocent Minds Soundtrack
Zukan has released the original music he did for the Innocent Minds film (we mentioned it back in August). You can grab the music from a post on the GamingTV forum – but you’ll have to be registered to see it. Five tracks (two are bonus). Thanks, trigger119. Update: trigger119 has fixed it so that you no longer need to be logged in to view this.(Louis Wu 10:11:29 UTC)

Send in stuff for this week’s show: Crow’s Nest Campaign Show!
—
by
It’s time to gather some backup in your quest for the legendary samurai sword. Time to get back to campaign!
We need ammo! What’s the password?
This month’s campaign show is all about Crow’s Nest the mission that takes place in the human stronghold near the ruins of New Mombasa. This one involves a lot of going back and forth to rescue people and set up Miranda’s daring plan to prevent the Prophet of Truth from doing any more damage to earth and cripple his fleet.
Brute Chieftain. On legendary. Alone. Enough said.
This mission can be TOUGH and the Halo Nation needs your help to make it through. We’re looking for your tips and tricks on how to get through this level without dying. We’re also looking for any skulls and/or secrets you know of on this level and how to obtain them. Feel free to send us a link to a cool screenshot you have from Crow’s Nest too, we’ll post it in the shownotes!
Deadline is Tuesday night at about 6pm EST. The sooner you send your tip in, the more likely it will be on the show! Just click the big green button at the top right and send in your tip with your gamertag so we can give you credit.

Mmmmmm… Pudding
Elnea has gone a bit overboard; Episode 98.2 of her Halo Action Figure Theater (yes, she’s trying to save the good stuff for ep 100, which means we might see a 98.74 one day) involves not just Halo action figures, not just cans of cat food, not just hardware like a lightbox… but PUDDING. Vanilla pudding, to be specific. Ick.(Louis Wu 17:25:41 UTC)

Guitar Hero III Quick Impressions (360)
—
by
It felt like Christmas Sunday morning when both my wife and I woke up to finally open up Guitar Hero III which we had picked up at 12:00 midnight whilst returning from the HaloWeen BYOS LAN. After being up so late and sleeping in, we didn’t get to start wailing on it until around lunchtime.
Upon opening the box 47after remarked how cool it was to be able to separate the neck of the guitar and how she liked the idea of removable faceplates. The new guitar is slightly heavier, and slightly longer than the old version. This is a plus in my book making it feel (just a bit) more like a real guitar. The only negative I would have to add would be that it appears that the only way to power this thing is with 2 AA batteries. No battery pack looks like it would fit anywhere on the guitar. But it gets the job done.. now it’s time to rock.
All the previous reviews are right: It’s Guitar Hero, except a bit better graphics and new songs. We started on the co-op campaign mode using both the new guitar and the old GHII guitar for the 360. Coop was a blast to play only that we noticed that it appears most of the achievements were only going to player 1. That’s fine as long as you know what is happening before playing through half or the full co-op career.
After playing through a few set lists I convinced 47 to jump onto Xbox Live and play some Face Off. Personally, this turns out to be the most fun in GH I’ve had so far. 47after was able to get 100% on a couple of songs in this mode, wiping away the competition who felt it necessary to play on expert or hard mode (these guys were very good, however couldn’t rack up the points as a 100% x4 multiplier run on medium).
We tried battle mode, but the powerups turned out to be more of a nuisance than a benefit to gameplay in my opinion. The Quick Match feature wasn’t working for us though… it seemed the best way to get in a multiplayer match was to search for customs or host your own game and wait, which I am fine with.
We haven’t completed it yet, but so far we’re enjoying GHIII a lot. If anything, the wireless guitar and new songs are definitely worth purchase price.

RvB’s Recovery One kicks off on the web
Recovery One: Part One is now available for Sponsors on the Rooster Teeth website. If you’re not a sponsor, you can grab it for 80 points on Xbox Live (that’s a buck). It picks up (sort of) where Out of Mind left off – I’m not really sure where Wyoming came (back) from… but I’m sure that’ll become clear in later episodes. Go watch!(Louis Wu 14:17:57 UTC)
