Our Favorite Things – now on XBLM
If you missed the ‘Our Favorite Things’ movie download last week (there aren’t that many of you who have, we’ve served almost 100,000 copies of it, in various flavors), Bungie has made it available (for free, of course) on Xbox LIVE Marketplace. Head to New Arrivals -> Halo 3 to grab it! There are a lot of people with better picture and sound on their TV than their computer monitor… and this puppy takes nice advantage of that.(Louis Wu 10:56:12 UTC)

Heroic Map Pack now free. Lockout remade for Halo 3.
—
by
Lockout is being remade for Halo 3. It will be called Blackout and released as part of the Legendary Map Pack for Halo 3. The map geometry is very similar to that of Lockout. In an interview with Bungie they spoke about the new map. Summary:
- this map is set during the night time
- in the frozen Antarctic on a UNSC weather station
- map geometry rebuilt from scratch by looks to be very similar to original
- most of the jumps from Halo 2 are there must some have been removed to prevent map control on a certain part of the map
Go to the Bungie article to look at more screenshots.
The Heroic Map Pack has been made available as downloadable content (DLC) by Bungie and are free as of today. The Heroic Map Pack consists of three maps and weighs 487.18MB.
The symmetrical valley of Standoff, with its entrenched bases and fields of boulders is ideal for mid-sized objective and Slayer game types.
The vast, labyrinthine passages of the Rat’s Nest bring something completely new to the multiplayer experience: an indoor vehicle paradise. Strongly influenced by the Campaign mode, this map is ideal for big team battles.
Foundry is the ultimate Forge map. Players can edit every single object in this voluminous industrial warehouse, placing stairways, walls, bridges, and tunnels to create an entirely new play space and build almost any kind of map imaginable.

Whoa, JVB and CapnKrunk have their own podcasts?
—
by
In case you didn’t know, some of the guys at Podtacular have been doing their own things these days, and are kickin’ butt at it.
CapnKrunk is actually the creative director behind PIQ Magazine, entertainment for the rest of us. It’s the successor to the very popular Newtype anime magazine, but this time including more entertainment that geeks like us get into. Issue 1 recently came out and features stuff about Appleseed Ex Machina, Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles, Avatar: The Last Airbender, and more. They have a great podcast that’s just getting started. Go have a listen!
JVB has started his own podcast as well called the Post Game Report or PGR. He’s already on episode 10 and gets the community involved with the show. They talk about the latest happenings in the gaming community and have a different guest on each week. Check it out!

TTL – now with less shielding
Gah. I hate mornings that get split up. I nearly missed the Tied the Leader update – XerxdeeJ whined mightily about the SWAT playlist (c’mere, boy, I have some lead for your noggin), a TTL-based Xbox 360 theme for a contest has been highlighted, more cool panoramas have been posted, and there’s even some CoD4 stuff to read. Check it.(Louis Wu 18:57:26 UTC)

Blackout – From Venezuela, with Love
The third map in the Legendary DLC pack has been announced over on Bungie.net – Blackout is a straight-up remake of Lockout. (For all you people screaming that this was going to be Lockout – you were right. Doesn’t make the faked magazine cover any more real, however…) Paul Russell, Dan Miller, Blake Low and Allen Murray discuss how this map came about, what’s changed from its Halo 2 predecessor, and why the entire structure is not on the back of a llama. Go read! (High-res pics are in the B.net gallery, as well.)(Louis Wu 18:47:57 UTC)
