I recently visited the new Beauregard’s at University Drive and Memorial Parkway, next to Books-a-Million, and was very impressed. Establishment is large and well-furnished, food is good, and the beer selection is one of the best in town, IMO. Would like to get together there on Thursday night (9/6/07) around 7 PM. Late is fine–come when you can. Reply if interested.

Sony Tells Wiki Halo 3 Won’t Look Better Than Halo 2
Cole at Lasersharks points out that the Wikiscanner discovered an edit to the entry on Halo 3 that came from teh Sony Computer Entertainmentoffice in the UK. The edit inserted the phrase “although it wont look any better than Halo 2” into the description of the game.
The edit was apparently to the Halo 3 section of the main page for the Halo series and has since been removed.
Thanks to Louis Wu at HBO for the heads-up.

Sony insults the competition on Wikipedia
Awesome. WikiScanner is a tool developed by a guy who was interested in seeing who was doing the anonymous editing on Wikipedia pages. All sorts of interesting information surfaced once people started using it; companies saying good things about their own products, or dissing the competition… Halo’s now on the list. According to this Lasersharks post, derogatory edits to the Halo 3 page on Wikipedia were made from an address that traces back to Sony’s Liverpool Studios. How childish!(Louis Wu 13:13:52 UTC)

More Screenshots, Fewer Errors On Radio Shack Halo 3 Page
Louis Wu at HBO pointed out that ComWave— apparently responsible for the Radio Shack website that just added a Halo 3 product page— will correct some of the errors in the previous product description, and also added additional screenshots to their gallery. I’ve collected the new shots, with Wu’s gracious technical assistance, in the images gallery.

Maybe we should start writing hatchet jobs, too.
Heh. This article, from Xbox 360 Rally, showed up in my Google Alerts mailbox – it rants about a piece at GameDaily that seems to have been written specifically to drive Halo fans into a tizzy. For that reason, they’ve actually posted the whole article… so you don’t need to visit the original and give them the pageviews they were looking for.(Louis Wu 11:54:10 UTC)

Halo – expanding industries everywhere
The Philadelphia Daily News has an article that discusses how Marvel’s Halo: Uprising series is bringing more new faces to comic books. I guess that might be part of the new strategy to release these every 2 months, instead of every 2 weeks…(Louis Wu 11:48:15 UTC)

TVG covers LGC
TVG has put up a preview of Halo 3, based on what they saw in Leipzig a few weeks ago. They’re skeptical about Forge, but like the way the game’s looking.(Louis Wu 11:44:08 UTC)

Pork Chops… and Applesauce.
Hawty McBloggy has put up an article that PROVES that she knew about Halo 3 going gold… OVER 20 YEAR AGO. Don’t believe her? Go read it! Then apologize for doubting her.(Louis Wu 11:38:58 UTC)

Halo 3 to be a supply chain strategy test
Halo makes the news in fields that have nothing to do with video games; DMN Newswire has a story this morning about how Microsoft is using Halo 3 as an example of Microsoft’s ‘world class competency’ in managing supply chains. The question is – can you fill the supply channel with product… and STILL manage to keep it under wraps until Launch Day? I guess we’ll see!(Louis Wu 11:35:41 UTC)

Not just the Covenant any more…
Wow, bizarre. Daily Motion has a video of the Master Chief rescuing a woman being yelled at by her husband/boyfriend… on the streets of France. Um… what? Update: With a little digging, it becomes clear that these were created by the French TV channel TF1; you can download Part One and Part Two from Halo.fr. (Even if you don’t read French, it shouldn’t be too hard to find the download links. Alternatively, use Google Language Tools to translate the web pages.)(Louis Wu 11:17:43 UTC)

GameDaily Disses Halo 3 To Get Pageviews
Just so the dastardly scheme doesn’t work, I’ll post to the
summarycomplete reproduction of the post at xbox360Rally. GameDaily is offering an article called “six reasons to pass up on this crappy game” that is filled with nonsense and self-contradictions. Not to mention, it’s basically six paragraphs on six separate pages. First they complain about the Arbiter being in Halo 2, and then complain that they can’t fight against UNSC forces in Halo 3. Wha? Then they complain it’s “too familiar”– as if the “familiar” elements of Halo 3 aren’t similar to just about every other FPS on the planet. They complain about cheaters, and finish off by saying they regret giving Halo 2 a 10/10 and will be more objective about Halo 3.Revisionist history at its best. They’re basically saying either they don’t stand by their review, in which case they have no integrity, or they got suckered into rating the game too high, in which case they are incapable of discriminating. Either way, it means you might as well not bother reading what they write about Halo 3; whether good or bad, they’ll reverse themselves in a few years if it helps them make a convenient point.

Halo 3 Outselling Bioshock Before Release
Bioshock is, by all accounts, an incredible-looking story-driven shooter with deep gameplay for the Xbox 360.
So is Halo 3.
The major difference between the two of them– on top of Halo’s multiplayer, saved films and map editing features, is that Bioshock is out already, and Halo 3 is not.
Despite this, on Amazon.com, two editions of Halo 3, the regular and limited, are both outselling Bioshock, according to Next-Generation. That’s crazy.
I don’t see this as a slight to Bioshock at all, just a testament to just how much anticipation there is for Halo 3.

Bungie Recommends Becoming A Zombie
1Up’s latest piece on Halo 3 covers the “Bungie Recommends” feature that will take game variants and Forge map variants from individual player shares and suggest them to the community at large. That’ll be how custom community-made gametypes, like Halo 2’s honor-rules zombie, or dawn of the dead variants, will spread in Halo 3. They’ve also continued their Halo 2 retrospective up through the Arbiter levels. You can see all 1Up’s Halo 3 coverage on their Halo 3 mini-site.

There Will Be A Short Delay
TheBest32 writes that the transcription of the piece Earth City from Halo 2 that we was arranging for two pianos will be a little later than he expected— but still out before Halo 3. I’m guessing most things that don’t get done before Halo 3 won’t end up getting done until a good while after Halo 3. At least 15 hours later, anyway.

TVG: Halo 3 Has Next-Gen Finesse
TotalVideoGames has put up a short preview of Halo 3 based on the showing of Tsavo Highway at Leipzig this year. Like a lot of similar previews, they’re calling the graphics “improved” since the Beta, probably not realizing that campaign was more detailed than multiplayer all along– and has been since Halo 1.
