Random Halo 3 Screenshots
Hawty McBloggy spent a lot of time perusing screenshots collections at Bungie.net, and put together fifteen of her favorites. (Three came from Bungie’s Favorites list, but the rest were all dug out by her.) Some really cool shots in there! (Louis Wu 13:37:52 UTC)

US Army – Heavy Weapons Training
J23 pointed out that Major Nelson has announced the next entry from the US Army – Heavy Weapons. I couldn’t find a consistent way to navigate to this, but the ‘Heavy Weapons’ banner is in heavy rotation (no pun intended) on the LIVE blades of your 360; it shouldn’t be hard to find. Once you navigate to the page, you’ll find a new theme, a picture pack, an instructional army video, the ability to register for the next phase of the Army’s multipart tournament, and two training vids – shoulder-mounted weapons, and support weapons. These will give you tips and tricks to maximize your effectiveness with these powerful, but in some ways limited, weapons.(Louis Wu 13:24:05 UTC)

Episode 146: Customs and Creations with ForgeHub

Download | Shownotes
This week JVB and I are joined by TrueDarkFusion, one of the masterminds behind Forge Hub. Forge Hub is a really cool site, group of leaders, and community that’s all about forge. They have tutorial videos, detailed articles and instructions, the best custom maps with detailed descriptions, screenshots, and videos, friday night forge matches and more. I can’t say enough great things about these guys, they’re truly there to help the Halo Nation enjoy forge and make cool things with it. This week’s Pod Art is from Jamal. You can send in pod art too, just send it in to podtacular at gmail dot com. Even if it’s not used in the next show it might be used in future ones. Shows about an hour long and it’s really good, so start listening!

Halo 3 vs Call of Duty 4: someone can’t count.
I’m a little confused; news all over the web has Activision claiming that Call of Duty 4 was the biggest-selling title in 2007, with “more than seven million units since its launch in November” (the official press release is here, at GamesIndustry.biz, for example). But didn’t Major Nelson tell us 3 days into January that Halo 3 had sold 8.1 million copies? NPD’s reports are not accessible to non-subscribers, so I can’t access the lists these people are using to build their numbers… but something seems fishy.(Louis Wu 18:51:33 UTC)

Guest Hosting On Sarcastic Gamer
I recently had the pleasure of guest hosting on Sarcastic Gamer and the show turned out really good. We talk about why I was playing campaign on easy, the Fox News fiasco, my unpopular opinion on Gamespot-gate, and other important topics like pizza delivery tipping. If you haven’t heard them before, Sarcastic Gamer puts on a really great half-hour weekly show with some great comedy.

Call it Halo, they’ll come play
A bizarre little Flash game popped up in my Google Alerts this morning – it’s described as “Halo 3: 1st Boss Encounter!!!!!” – but there’s really nothing Halo-related about it. (And it takes a minute or two to beat it.)(Louis Wu 11:41:07 UTC)
