  • Around The Ring Episode 19 – Starcraft II

    Around The Ring: Episode 19Download
Well a little over a decade later, this show has finally come out! Also Starcraft II showed up. Sorry for the horrible delay, but as usual blame Dust Storm. However the wait was worth it, as we have a much nicer setup now! The show has it’s own feed, and with it’s own page possibly coming soon. This show took two takes, as the first take failed…really really hard. I still was able to salvage some funny bloopers from it, so it wasn’t a total waste. Note: Porta-potty != TARDIS. There’s a little wind noise, and some noise with me fiddling with my headset at certain points, but it’s not too bad. I cleaned the worst of it out. Other than that it’s up to the usual audio standard. I also officially introduce the new theme song! Credits can be found in the comments tag of the .mp3 file, and if it happens, the show page. You can view the album art at full size by opening the image.

  • Around The Ring Episode 18 – Alien Swarm

    Around The Ring: Episode 18Download
Hello again listeners! Yet another late episode, this time it’s been held up by issues with the feed change, and my own life getting busy. Stuff is still being pulled together, so bear with us. This one is about the free Valve game Alien Swarm, available exclusively on Steam. It’s a lot of fun, and seeing as it comes with a full SDK you should be expecting a lot of fun custom content. In addition in talking about the game, we also talk about the Half Life 2: Episode 3 content found in the game files.

We got a little off topic on this show…I’ll try to cut down on that, funny as it is. No show-notes again, actually we didn’t use any…I’m surprised it went as well as it did. It’s not like we had to record and patch in an entire section that we forgot. I have no idea how, but this show clocked in at …I’ll try to keep future shows on track so they don’t end up as long.

Credits for Creative Commons licensed music can be found in the show comments, or show-notes.

  • New Podcast Feeds

I have been reworking some of the podcast feeds since we have three separate podcasts with a few more to come. The Podtacular feed has been offline for a while during this change. iTunes has been updated to point to the correct feed and both new episodes are now up on iTunes. For anyone who subscribes manually, the new feed address for Podtacular is http://feeds.feedburner.com/podtacular/podtacular. Gamer 1 has it’s feed on iTunes as well and can be found at http://feeds.feedburner.com/podtacular/gamer1. Around the Ring will be available later this week. Thanks for the patience.

This year’s Comic Con was big for Halo fans everywhere. Forge World, the biggest Halo map ever was a big surprise to everyone, along with all the new Forge 2.0 features. Bungie also showed off three new maps, one of which is an Ivory Tower remake, popular amongst the hosts for this show. Painkilla, Chickenwaffle and Insane all join us to talk about these awesome developments. Pardon my audio: something is very wonky with my headset and I should have a new one soon. Enjoy

  • Bungie Weekly Update: 7-30-2010

Bungie just released their Weekly Update with some nice goodies: Achievements, Forge Screenshots, and the blames. The widely discussed mini-wraith has been named the Revenant. They have the Achievements listed out in detail for the world to see. Pictures of the new office: looks better than the old warehouse. Check out the story here.

  • Halo: Reach “The Battle Begins” Campaign Trailer

Campaign looks fraggin’ sweet, don’t you think?

  • Podtacular’s Halo 3 Farewell 3v3 Tourney

    Podtacular’s Halo 3 Farewell 3v3 Tourney

Halo Reach is 7 weeks away and Podtacular hasn’t hosted a tourney in quite some time. So to break the silence, we are throwing a Halo 3 3v3 Tourney for everyone. Anyone can participate and there will be prizes awarded to the winners. Without further delays, let’s see the details.

    Who’s invited?

    • Any team of 3 can enter the tournament. You may have a substitute in your roster if you like.
    • Feel free to spread this to anyone you know or other communities you may be affiliated with. We want a big turnout.

    Details

    • Depending on how many teams register, gameplay will start on August 28th if there are more than 16 teams, September 4th if there are 16 or less. There is a max of 64 teams. Two rounds will be played each weekend.
    • Tournament will run in a bracket style, best of three games. It is first round elimination: loose your best of three and you’re out.
    • Games will be played on Fridays and Saturdays. Sundays and Mondays will be open for reschedules if teams need it.

    Rules

    • All players are required to use the Spartan Armor.
    • Every round will consist of three matches. Each team will get to pick their gametype and map and the third match will be chosen at random. Gametypes and Maps will be put into a pool that can be selected from. Gametypes will be Slayer, CTF and Oddball. Maps and gametypes will be available for download to practice August 7th.
    • In the event of a tie-break, a Slayer game will be played on a pre-determined map. The winner will be the team with the most kills after 10 minutes.
    • Every team will have a designated team captain who will be the primary contact for the team. They will be required to sign up on the Podtacular forums and register their teams.
    • Upon registration, the team captain will need to send a F/R to POD Tournaments. Pod Dust Storm (myself) will be running the tournament.
    • Teams are required to show up at the designated times. A 24 hour notice must be given if a team cannot make the day of their match. They must also provide an alternative match time if they wish to continue on in the tournament. The opposing teams will be notified and suggested to the updated match time. If they can make it. The match will be rescheduled for the agreed time. If they are unable, the team who could not make the originally scheduled time will forfeit their position.
    • No inappropriate language is permitted, i.e. trash talking or swearing. If enough evidence is provided to suggest intentional abusive language, the offending team will be rejected from the tournament.

    Prizes

    • The three players on the first place team will get a copy of Halo: Reach Regular Edition.
    • Second place team will receive 1600 point cards/codes.
    • Third place team will receive 1 month Live cards/codes.
    • Although entry into the tournament is free, we ask that you donate to help deter the costs of the prizes. We ask for at least $5 for each team if you so choose.
    • Winning players will be required to send contact information to receive prizes. If you do not send us your address, we will not send you your prize.

    Registration

    • Team captains will need to register on the Podtacular forums here.
    • Registration is CLOSED

  • Podtacular 231: Forge Hub Interview

    Download | Shownotes
This episode is very much behind, but in light of recent events, it has to come out to make way for our next show. We have Insane and Roche from our good friends over at Forge Hub discuss their anticipations of what Forge will be like in Halo: Reach. There’s only speculation and hopes at this point, so we dive into the history of Forge Hub and the support from Bungie. A great blooper reel will come out later. Enjoy.

  • Bungie: Halo PC users will be shown some love in Halo: REACH

Interesting. Sawnose, THE guy that pretty much runs the Halo: PC shop at Bungie, posted a message confirming that owners of Halo PC with a valid CD KEY will be able to use the key somehow in Halo: REACH. At this time, there are basically no details as to what could happen.

Sawnose said this on the B.net forums:

“Yes, that was me in the podcast, and in fact we were discussing details at the office today. We should have the final feature ready for use in about a month.

We’re dealing with the keygen problem as best we can. For starters, I pulled a list of keys that had actually been used as of a month or two ago, and we’ll probably validate against that list. So people won;t be able to just get the keygen now and claim the… reward. (i.e., people who didn’t even bother to pirate the game 🙂 It also means that buying one of the few remaining copies at retail won’t help you anymore.

So yeah, we’re on it. Start spreading the word on other sites that Halo PC users should check here a couple weeks before Reach launches for details on what to do with the key.”

So, I guess that’s one heck of a way to sell a few more copies of Halo PC.

I wonder what the CD KEY could be used for? Could it be that Halo PC users can select the Flamethrower as a load out? That’s my guess.

    Hey Everyone,
Here’s today’s comic. Sorry it’s a tad late. I’ve been in the booth at Comic Con all day, and just now had the opportunity to sneak away and post it. If you’re in San Diego right now, you know how crazy things are. Also, why are you reading this and not stopping by booth 1437 to say hi? Sheesh. Some people…

  • AH: Achievement Hunter Anniversary Celebration continues this Friday on AHTV.

As we all know, Achievement Hunter’s second Birthday is coming up this Wednesday, We’ve got a spiffy Game-Day with Burnout Paradise set for that, but that’s not all. This Friday also marks the second anniversary of Achievement Hunter TV, so I feel that’s a great place to start for a weekend of AHTV events, Y’know, after I get my iPhone 4. I’m still hashing out the details, but I know that the following things will most likely/hopefully be featured:

Gears of War 2 Horde waves 1 – 50 on Nowhere. (I’m trying to get Jack and/or Geoff to attend, no guarantees.) Want in? Have the ability to Skype and play games simultaneously? Lemme know in the comments.
Alan Wake on Nightmare + Collectible playthrough
Limbo <5 death playthrough, plus all Achievement Eggs, in one sitting (could be bitchy)
Fallout 3 and all the DLC, quests and stuff I need to do since last time.
Maybe a Live triumphant return of Gamers Rapport with Episode 15 (checking on FraggEAR)
    HolyCrapICanDirectFeedMyDreamcastNowSoAllMyGamesEverAlwaysForAwesomeAndGreatJustice
    Bioshock 2 on Hard.
Maybe a 24 hour broadcast on Saturday. Maybe.

So that’s what I’m thinking so far. Any ideas? Requests? Scheduling help? Sound off in the comments.

  • AH: You know!

Who else is excited for the Burnout Paradise Community Day? I know I am! “But, but, but that is two more days from now! What will I do until then?” you may ask. The correct answer is: Watch today’s fresh new AHWU!
