If you’re looking for a new theme for your Xbox 360 Dashboard, check out the Halo: Reach Invasion Theme – it costs nothing. Nice!(Louis Wu 19:07:26 UTC)

NYC Launch, Bungie View
Bungie’s Developer Blog has a bunch of pics from last night’s festivities in New York – check it out! (We’ll have more of our own, soon, I hope.) (Louis Wu 19:05:36 UTC)

Throw away that rocker.
Remember StUnNeR H2K’s adorable kid and the custom UNSC wrap? Yeah, well, it gets cuter. (One | Two | Three) Who knew Bungie was thinking about parental needs when they built the packaging for the Legendary Edition? (Originally posted at NeoGAF, images rehosted for posterity.) Duct Tape Holds the Universe Together

Saving some bucks with a Slim
So people with the 4GB Slim Xbox 360 are finding that they cannot play Reach coop – even with a USB Flash Drive attached. This is disappointing – but before you run out and buy a new Xbox hard drive (and become bitter about the purchase), read these instructions from NeoGAF’s BrLvgThrChmstry. If you have an old drive from your original 360 lying around (any size), these will help you get it working in your Slim, and save you the price of a new drive. (Louis Wu 18:58:09 UTC)

R.net opens Reach Reviews Page
Rampancy.net is attempting the admirable (but insane) task of keeping track of Halo: Reach reviews – go see how well they’re doing! (Louis Wu 18:55:41 UTC)

The Policy
Getting a late start – blame Frankie, the Bungie guys, and Best Buy for a fine Reach launch party in New York City last night. Let’s see if we can reduce some of the news backlog… For those who missed it, yesterday’s Penny Arcade comic was Reach-related (discussion, as usual, is in the associated blog post) – thanks, AfroRyan. Welcome to Noble
Many, if not all of you stood in lines for two, three, four hours or more at your local games retailer waiting for the game of the year, Halo: Reach. You have received critical intelligence about the human-covenant war and it’s your time to fight for humanity. For those who have received the limited edition, you will find some classified intel that will be vital to understanding the minds behind the Spartan Program. For those veterans who have received the legendary edition, your contributions to the war effort have gifted you the coveted Noble Statue. It is a monument to those who were lost.
You may be wondering where Podtacular falls into this. For those of you who are just finding us, welcome to our community. We hope that you find a welcoming and friendly environment here and on the battlefield. We are focused around our podcast that focuses on the Halo Universe: everything from campaign run-throughs, multiplayer tips, and user created content. For those who are familiar with us, expect some changes all around to Podtacular:
- A new theme has been developed by our former Administrator, CapnKrunk that will be put into effect very shortly, here and on the forums.
- The Podcast show format will be changed up to a more formal layout and be getting a sound quality upgrade.
- Pod TV will be hosted by Dust Storm, pursuing campaign runthroughs and achievement guides. If you are looking to get involved, please post in the forums here.
- Podtacular is looking for news writers for our homepage. If you have done journalism or think you can write well, then you soon will have an opportunity to put your skills to the test and become a Podtacular content writer.
- Game nights, Forge groups and the like are being established by the community already. We will have a list of official groups and events when they become available.
- Podtacular’s first Reach tournament is just around the corner, but this time, since you already have the game, we are giving away copies of the Reach OST.
These are just some of the things happening at Podtacular, and we hope you will join us for this adventure into Bungie’s Swan Song to Halo.

RT: Big Store Update!
Hey Everybody,
We have a big awesome store update for you. As you know, The Recollection box set is on pre-sale now and will ship by September 14. Now in addition to seasons 6, 7 and 8, the box set also includes a free Grifball Bonus DVD! It features the last two Grifball mini-series we released on Halo Waypoint, and is available exclusively in our online store and at Best Buy stores on Sept. 14.
Now if you’ve already purchased seasons 6, 7 and 8 separately but would still like the Grifball DVD and a fancy way to present your Recollection set, then you are in luck. We are releasing a Recollection 3-DVD Case, which also comes with the Grifball Bonus DVD. (Please note that the Grifball Bonus DVD and the Recollection Case are limited-supply, first-come-first-serve items. Once these are sold out they will not be restocked. And to be clear, the case does NOT include the DVDs for seasons 6, 7 and 8.)
But wait there’s more. We have two new Grif-tastical shirts. The first is our oh-so-witty “I was born to take it easy shirt.” Announce your laziness with pride when you wear this snappy Grif quote t-shirt. Secondly, we have a very cool new customizable Grifball Athletic t-shirt. You can have your name, username, gamertag or any other random string of characters printed on the back. Check it out!
And last but not least, we’re dropping a deuce of new movie posters. The official RvB: The Recollection poster and something we’re calling “Caboosisms,” which features all your favorite Caboose quotes from over the years. Both are suitable for framing or rolling up for use as an ineffective telescope. Enjoy!

AH: Weekend Hunt

I’m shocked to say this weekend is not the Halofest I was expecting for the Weekend Hunt’s, but there’s still plenty of love for the franchise. Next week though, expect Reach…. lots and lots of Reach:
First up we have Verzhus going for Vidmaster Annual in Halo 3.
September 11th at 3pm EST
Contact him here on AH, or via his Gamertag: Scrotitingul
If you can’t make that one, Uchihafire is going for the same achievement in Halo 3 and is the last Halo achievement he needs until Tuesday.
Friday 10th – If this works better for you than Saturday, get those messages in now!
Send them to his profile here or to his Gamertag: Uchihafire
Next up, Amigox3 is hosting not one, but 3 Weekend Hunt’s across Halo 3 and Halo 3: ODST.
Friday 10th – 7pm Central will be Halo 3 multiplayer achievements.
Saturday 11th – From anytime, will be Endure on Halo 3: ODST.
Sunday 12th – Again from anytime, will be the third day you have a chance for Vidmaster Annual in Halo 3.
Contact him via Twitter or his Gamertag of the same name: AmigoSniped
Lastly, my friend ckay99 is trying for a bunch of achievements in Left 4 Dead including the Crash Course DLC. Depending on numbers this could be going through the campaigns or versus mode.
Friday 10th at 8pm GMT
Send a friend request to Gamertag: cynicalmonkey99
If you want to host a future Weekend Hunt, post the details in this group thread to get some frontpage attention.

RT: Shorts and other ponderings
As you most likely have noticed, Shorts are back in full swing. Please enjoy our latest offering with careless abandon. Or careful abandon if such is your pleasure. I am also pleased to announced that the last episode of Red vs Blue Revelation will online Monday at 9 o’clock as per standard operating procedure, but in a wild disregard for regulations we have decided to air Chapter 20 Saturday afternoon for Sponsors. See you there!
And we also want to direct your attention to our good friend, Jeskid, who is at this very moment launching his latest project, Status Kill. I had the pleasure of watching Status Kill a few weeks ago and I highly recommend that you do the same right now. Jesse is clearly intent on continuing his streak of awesome productions. He has the first three episodes of Status Kill up right now — watching all three back to back is a great way to get addicted to the series.
