MLG Las Vegas – Congrats to Str8
If you missed the live streams last night, you can read a recap of the MLG Las Vegas event over at the MLGPro.com website. (You can actually watch the action yourself, if you’d rather.) The money on the line was pretty steep – Str8 Rippin went home with $100,000 for winning the tourney, Instinct took $60,000 for second place, Carbon settled for $40,000 for third place, and even Final Boss, who placed only 4th, STILL went home with $28,000. Games for Windows – Live has a new in-game interface. PC gamers will no longer be insulted with A B X Y buttons sprinkled across the interface. The new interface is much more PC friendly.

Unfortunately, there is still no desktop client for GfWL. So, you can expect this new UI to go largely unnoticed and under utilized by the GfWL install base.

MLG Vegas – Final Four
MLG Las Vegas is down to its final four Halo teams – Str8 Rippin faces off against Carbon on the Winners Bracket, Final Boss and Instinct are the only two teams left in the Losers Bracket. Free Gears of War 2 Gold Plated Lancer. Other Xbox Marketplace content.
A glitch in the Xbox Marketplace allows you to download exclusive game content to your Xbox 360 console for free. Most of this content was previously only accessibly if you had a redeemable code that came with your pre-order from a store like Gamestop or if you purchased a limited edition version of the game.
I did not buy the Limited Edition of Gow2. I do have the gold-plated Lancer. I have confirmed in-game that this download technique works. I’ve got the gold lancer now.
