Good news for all you PC Achievement Hunters, Microsoft just announced in a
Press Release that Games for Windows Live will be getting a new, streamlined online store to rival Steam. The store will allow millions of gamers to quickly access classic games, indie titles and bit blockbuster hits like the upcoming
Fable III.
The service will be available from November 15th, and will function similarly to the XBox Live Marketplace with Games on Demand, easier navigation and regular offers like Deal of the Week.
Streamlined
This service will be all about ease of access, allowing player to quickly get to the games they love by offering:
- Online access, anywhere. Optimized for speed, the store allows for ultra-fast downloads; this means fewer clicks to purchase and download, delivering faster turnaround for gameplay. And since the service lives on the Web, gamers can download games on a PC, anytime, and can easily redownload games they purchase if needed.
- Deals and discounts galore. Gamers can check out screaming deals on select games every time they visit the Marketplace, as well as the Deal of The Week and other recurring and seasonal offers.
- Game search functionality. Gamers can search by titles or genres to quickly find the games they want; they can even find new games from their favorite publishers with dedicated publisher pages.
- Fresh design. The clean, intuitive look and feel makes browsing for games a simple, enjoyable experience. Gamers can easily navigate between pages as they search for the perfect game.
A Growing Portfolio
Over 100 top games will be available to purchase and download once Games for Windows Marketplace launches next month and will include such titles as “Fable: The Lost Chapters” and “Grand Theft Auto III”, as well as plenty more from some of the biggest developers in the gaming world. Indie games will also be included, as well as well known Microsoft Game Studios franchises, including Halo, Gears of War and Flight Simulator. Upcoming blockbuster titles will also be available, such as Fable III, Age of Empires Online and Microsoft Flight.
Easy Access
Signing up to the new Marketplace is simple as pie, if you already have a Windows Live ID (used for Windows Live, XBox Live, Games for Windows – LIVE and Zune) you can login and start getting the games you want straight away. Plus, you’ll also be able to spend Microsoft Points across XBox Live, Games for Windows and the Zune Marketplace without having to manage each one separately.
So PC gamers, mark that date in your calendar, Games for Windows Marketplace launches November 15th!
