Earth City For Piano (Full)
—
by
Here is a transcription of Earth City from Halo 2 for the piano (Now with E3 part). It’s pretty difficult, so just keep practicing.

Many thanks to Spencer “Poop Scoop” Anunsen for his transcription of Earth City for the orchestra; I got most of the notes from there.
Some parts of the MIDI might sound a bit wierd, I was messing around a bit with the dynamics and stuff but generally it sounds ok.
Pedaling, dynamics and articulation are left to the pianist’s discretion. Enjoy!
22 Aug: Slight updates.
Difficulty: Quite Hard
Attachment includes:
- Sheet music (.pdf)
- Midi sequence (.mid)
- Finale Notation file (.mus, .bak)
Tip: When playing the running octaves (esp. in left hand) try not to stiffen your wrist, relax a little, and let your wrist do some of the work so your arm muscles don’t get tired too quickly.

MORE LEFT 4 DEAD DLC ANNOUNCED
Crash Course Campaign Due in September
August 4, 2009 – Valve, creators of best-selling game franchises (such as Half-Life, Portal, Team Fortress, and Counter-Strike) and leading technologies (such as Steam and Source), today announced the next major downloadable content (DLC) update for its co-operative zombie thriller, Left 4 Dead (L4D), the #1 new game title on Xbox 360 and PC in 2008
Entitled “Crash Course,” the latest DLC delivers new single-player, multiplayer and co-operative gameplay to both platforms. Targeted for release in September, “Crash Course” bridges the gap between the end of the “No Mercy” campaign and the beginning of “Death Toll” in the original game, expanding the game universe with new locations, new dialogue from the original cast, and an explosive finale While containing both Survival maps and a Co-operative Campaign, the primary goal of “Crash” is to deliver a complete Versus mode experience in just 30 minutes, resulting in a streamlined version of the game’s existing Versus campaigns. A recharge timer for infected teammates has also been added, and item spawn behavior has changed for more balanced gameplay.
“Since the release of Left 4 Dead last November, the design team has been excited about creating new experiences for this world and allowing players to do the same, by releasing much of our internal toolset, like the Survival Pack and Authoring Tools,” said Gabe Newell. “We’re working with the fans toward the ongoing entertainment value of the product.”
Left 4 Dead is an action horror game from Valve that blends the social entertainment experience of multiplayer games such as Counter-Strike and Team Fortress with the dramatic, narrative experience made popular in single player action game classics such as the Half-Life series of games. Released in November of 2008, L4D has earned over 50 industry awards from outlets around the world and sold almost 3 million copies worldwide.
Left 4 Dead: Crash Course is targeted for release in September and will be available free of charge on the PC and for 560 Gamer points on Xbox Live.

RT: Drunk Tank #17 (Rooster Teeth Podcast)
—
by
Drunk Tank #17 is now available for download. This podcast is a bit different than normal. I wasn't able to record at our normal editing station because there is other work going on there, so I had to do the podcast interview style in the conference room. I invited Geoff, then Gavino then Matt to come in and talk with me one on one. As a weird side effect there aren't very many links in the link dump this week. We will be back to normal next week. Also, I feel like a total douche bag because during this podcast I say "we are working on things we can't talk about" like a million times. Sorry.
As always, you can see the link dump at the official Drunk Tank group. You can also get the podcast via iTunes or Zune Marketplace.

A Halo movie… from Steven Spielberg?
PsychoRaven came by to tell us about an article on IESB.net (I can’t find ANYTHING about who they are on their website, or anywhere else for that matter, but they sure do get the word out) that claims that Steven Spielberg is in ‘active negotiations’ to develop Stuart Beattie’s Halo spec script for the big screen. Peter Jackson and Neill Blomkamp used the opportunity of SDCC a couple of weeks ago to say that the Halo movie looked dead dead dead… and now we’ve got another big name rumored to be interested in making yet another version. Will anything come of this? Your guess is as good as mine. Stay tuned!(Louis Wu 15:23:05 UTC)

Halo 3 Outtakes
Bloogyo stopped in with word of ‘The Halo 3 Outtakes‘ – it’s like a DVD’s outtake reel… except that standard Halo 3 footage was used to build it. Some clips work really well… others are a little hard to understand. Check it out – it’s only a minute and a half!(Louis Wu 15:11:09 UTC)

The Weta Warthog – in all its glory
Kotaku pointed out some photos of the Weta Warthog in Sydney at InsiderX – but what’s more interesting is if you continue along to their VIP Party photos, you’ll find a link to Delicate Genius, the blog of Michael Kordahi, another attendee – who took enough shots of the Warthog to create a Photosynth of it. You can watch a video of the making of the photosynth, as well as the end product itself. Pretty cool stuff! Update: here’s another Warthog video tour, this one shot on an iPhone.(Louis Wu 14:50:47 UTC)

The good news: urk’s wearing pants again.
The Bungie Weekly Update went up as expected last night – if you read it, you’ll find lots of little tidbits. There’s a deconstruction of ONI’s Alpha Site, for those preparing to play Halo 3: ODST. There are some cool new wallpapers for your iPhone. There’s some tantalizing news about an upcoming Halo 3: ODST Soundtrack release. There’s information (very little, but information nonetheless) about the next ViDoc coming down the pike. And there’s a bunch of little stuff that should amuse a Bungie fan, if only for a moment or two. Go give it a read! (You can, of course, check it out in our Weekly Update Archive, if you choose.)(Louis Wu 14:44:23 UTC)
