    Halo Cross Stitch

    From gamerwolff:

I created this as part of a spritestitch.com challenge. The theme was mash-ups. This is obviously Halo meets Super Mario Bros!

  • Tattoo Tuesday: Master Chief and Cortana

Some people show their love for Halo by playing the games. Others get a relevant image permanently placed upon their body. Enjoy this particular example of a Halo-related body modification, and if you have a picture you’d like to submit for possible future inclusion, send it to bsangel[at]halowaypoint.com!

  • He’s a sucker for ancient giant alien artifacts

Omnivoracious has an interview, of sorts, with Greg Bear about Primordium – go read what he had to say! Thanks, Hypertrooper.(Louis Wu 17:22:13 UTC)

  • Oboe Scores – Halo with a bit of class

A little bit ago, OboeCrazy decided to set fun Reach clips to music – music played by her. Thus was born Oboe Scores. Episode #1 has some great Grenade Launcher action set to a mellow oboe score. Episode #2 was called ‘The Friendly Elite’ – it’s a heartwarming example of how enemies can lay down their arms and get along. (Until one decides to assassinate the other.) And Episode #3 switches things up – the gameplay is from HWM Sarge, the instrument is the English horn instead of the oboe, and the subject is ‘The Revenge of the Falcon’. Awesome stuff!(Louis Wu 15:46:57 UTC)

  • A Numbers-Based Approach

Hoovaloov decided to look more closely into how bloom affects the DMR’s effectiveness (or, more specifically, how the change due to the Title Update affects the winning chances of folks who pace their shots vs folks who pull the trigger as fast as they can). The results might surprise you. (Interestingly enough, RC Master decided, totally independently, to look at the statistics of the Needle Rifle today, and compare its kill speed (in ideal conditions) to the DMR. Again – fascinating results.)(Louis Wu 15:09:21 UTC)

  • I need a washcloth.

Ross Mills noticed a new set of Halo-themed soaps from Digitalsoaps (we mentioned them back in 2009) – I love the design, but I’m not sure I want to smell like carbonated corn syrup. (The original link was via Sprite Stitch.)(Louis Wu 15:08:44 UTC)

  • Halo-inspired first aid kit

We’ve mentioned THORSSOLI before – he made some cool Halloween armor a couple of years ago. (He’s made a lot more than that – but it’s what we noticed.) He put up a post this weekend that’s quite cool – he documented the creation of a Halo health pack, ready to be filled with first-aid goodies (or snacks, whatever works). Check it out! Thanks to wwm0nkey, over at NeoGAF, for the heads-up.(Louis Wu 15:06:18 UTC)

  • 343 Guilty Spirits

Another day, another comic from pete_the_duck – I gotta say, I’m a little curious about what might have happened last night. (Louis Wu 15:03:37 UTC)

  • Deathless Package

A little late to help you with yesterday’s Daily Challenge, but still a pretty impressive run – RC Master passed along word of a no-deaths run on The Package on High Speed Halo. It sets a new record time for The Package on Legendary (16:37), and has just enough mistakes to give someone looking to best it a sense of hope! Check it out.(Louis Wu 15:02:33 UTC)

  • Tyrant’s Halo 3 Legendary Walkthrough – Sierra 117

The Tyrant has kicked off his Halo 3 Legendary Guide on YouTube, with a half-hour commentated run through Sierra-117. Skips, tricks, tips for staying alive – this video will help you survive your way through the start of the Halo 3 campaign! The video has a special guest appearance from Steve ‘Master Chief’ Downes, and apparently, later today there will be a question posted to Tyrant’s Twitter feed that will give you a chance to win a free Avatar code. • Spartans Know How to Keep Cool in a Crysis

Longtime HBO member The Lionheart unveiled today a new community-driven project that looks to hit the ground running strong. Called Venerance, the project is a Halo mod using CryEngine 3, and focuses on Blue Team’s exploits on Sigma Octanus IV. The project is certainly rich in passion, and The Lionheart says that the creative team behind it will soon be recruiting even more talent from the Halo community to join on board. His forum post is more of a teaser, but I’m sure he’d love to answer any questions he can about the project. So keep an eye on this one, and if you don’t think you can help out, at least lend some encouraging words! Check it out!(GrimBrother One 01:17:17 UTC)

  • Playing brings us together

Tex stopped in with word from a friend who attended the UCSD Winter Games Fest last weekend – looks like the Halo matches were played on GAEMS G155s. Nice! Worth a read – a long-time fan remembers where he came from!(Louis Wu 18:59:26 UTC)

  • Annoying the internet since 2002

pete_the_duck made it easy to read the latest comics on his site, by posting direct links on our forum. Each one is funnier than the last! (Louis Wu 18:58:05 UTC)
