  • 10,343 Halotracker Challenges, In the Bag!

    Halotracker

    From xorth:

Wow. Never thought we would see this day. The users of Halotracker have completed 10,343 challenges.

Why is this significant? It shows you how tight this community is, and how it pulls people together to enjoy and continue playing Halo. When you could be off getting credits for in-game challenges, you were out there getting ours. Ours, which were often a lot harder, and all you got was some player page awards, it really shows how talented and dedicated you guys are.

We should all give the the challenge producers one big curtsie, for they make these challenges every week. This feature is for you, by you, and I’m glad you enjoy it. Sabj got this program going little less then a year ago, and the Challenge Creators group took over from there. They get nothing in return for doing this work. This is all for you.

    Some Stats

    Firsties
    • 10,343rd challenge submission: Hellraizer87.
    • First challenge submission: sabj.
    • First person to hit 100 Challenges: pimpumpam.
    • My psychologist just hit 400 challenges complete!

    You
    • 658 people have submitted a challenge.
    • Assuming an 8-minute game and one game to get the challenge, users have spent 1,379 hours getting challenges.
    • 2,839 awards have been given out.

    Fail
    • 1,009 challenges have been rejected.

    Other
    • The busiest day was 2/13/2012 with 256 challenges completed.
    • Rockin has processed 2,212 with Cyberdistortion not too far behind with 1,665.
    • Yours truly, xorth, has dominated the scene with 98 challenges processed!

As you can see, this is a group effort. I hope you continue to enjoy our challenges. Cya at 20k!

From SuperFastHD and submitted by Ben:

Helljumper is a fan-made web series based on Microsoft’s acclaimed video game franchise, Halo. Adapted from the short story, “Dirt,” by Tobias S. Buckell, it tells the story of a few human ODSTs as they fight through 27 years of brutal war with the Covenant. They evolve from a rag tag group of recruits in the UNSC to being cold battle hardened veterans that are shadows of their former selves.

In episode two, Gage and his team hear about the attack on Harvest by the Covenant, so he volunteers to be part of the evacuation team for the remaining civilians on the planet. By the time they arrive, Harvest is already overtaken by Covenant. They struggle to find their way through the mess.

  • Bungie Mail Sack 4.0

Last week, Bungie posted another installment of their Mail Sack – it’s a fantastic read. Lots of info, including questions about what happens after the handoff on March 31. There is much more than that, though – there’s even a map of the studio! Go read it, if you haven’t already. (If you have, go read it again.) (Louis Wu 15:34:01 UTC)

  • Catching up with Anoj

We’ve missed a couple of Anoj-generated Top 10 videos recently – last week, he released Top 10 Unusual Kills (you might want to call this ‘Top Lag-induced Kills’), and this week, he posted Betrayals and Suicides. (The Number 1 clip made me laugh.) Thanks to Jordan Bell for the heads-up! (Louis Wu 15:33:01 UTC)

  • Drunken Halo: Episode 37

  • Farewell To a Legend

KontrolFreek, the guys who make those little adaptors that sit on top of your Xbox controller’s analog sticks and give you tighter control, have a new contest going. The FPS Freek Legendarys, a variant of their product designed specifically for Halo, is being retired – when this last batch is gone, they’re gone. And to say goodbye in style, they’ve put together a heck of a prize package – A Reach Xbox 360, a Weta Halo statue, and a pair of Legendarys signed by Steve Downes. All you need to do is enter your email! This contest officially kicks off on Saturday – but because you’re reading this on HBO, you get to sign up early. Check it out, sign up… and maybe grab a pair just in case you don’t win! (I wrote a mini-review of these puppies last year, and the KontrolFreek guys answered a bunch of questions for us soon after that. I’m not getting paid for this – I can recommend these because I use ’em, and love ’em.)(Louis Wu 22:03:42 UTC)

This is a Halo: Reach community montage from Reddit’s Halo community, edited by Theorix and put together with help from ManWithoutModem. The gameplay is good, featuring clips from a large selection of maps and game types, including a ridiculous spinning ninja on Sanctuary. The editing is very good, showcasing a lot of very creative, well-done cinematography, a ton of spot-on syncing, and a strong flow. Enjoy!

  • You Know You Play Too Much Halo When – Part 3

Sometimes we ask you questions on Twitter. Occasionally you answer. This is one of those times.

    Finish this sentence:
You know you play too much Halo when…

You’re more concerned about how many credits you have instead of your bank account balance. -@CortanaV

Every time you go to the doctor, you keep wanting to call her Halsey. -@SithKnightmare

You play “Sacred Icon Suite 2” when taking off in an airplane. -@CrazedOne1988

You play four straight hours of Team Slayer in the ranked playlist…as a warm-up. -@WVCW32Bit

You look at a field or city block and start deciding which game types could be supported and fun to play. -@_Dan_Campbell_

Your dreams have a Motion Tracker. -@RobMitchells

You use the term ‘noob combo’ to describe things that are completely unrelated to video games. -@CruelLEGACEY

You count Jackals in your sleep instead of sheep. -@notoriousJMZ

Your friends have waypoints above their heads. -@OrangeSodaSmurf

Your XBL gamercard of recent games are Halo: Reach, ODST, Waypoint, Halo Wars, & Halo 3. -@itsthesoup

You write hello like Halo. -@GiorgisN

You start looking for a Halo ring using your observatory’s telescope. -@Cyclonic_Jet

You pretend your laser pen is the charging beam of your actual Spartan Laser and make the appropriate sounds. -@7Scooch7

You hear about a pelican, and it doesn’t mean a bird. -@ShannonAla13

You dream about Master Chief. Not that I do or anything… my friend does… I mean… not that I would ask. -@masterchiefFTW
