  • Funding the Arts – in a really cool way

OboeCrazy stopped in to announce a new Kickstarter program; she’d love to make Oboe music in cool places (especially married to videogames, Halo in particular), but needs your help to afford equipment and travel expenses! Go read the page for full details – and remember, like any Kickstarter project, she only gets funded if her pledge level reaches her goal. You can get her there!(Louis Wu 12:48:11 UTC)

  • Anniversary Autopsy

kornman00 wanted to let us know about the newest issue of Game Developer Magazine, which runs a regular feature called “Postmortem” (not that one), where a developer breaks down their recent release to talk about the nuts and bolts of what went right, and what went wrong. It’s always a great read with excellent insight into the more technical aspects of putting a game together. This month focuses on none other than the recent Halo: Anniversary from 343 Industries & Sabre Interactive. For iOS users, kornman included a handy link to purchase a copy of the digital edition for yourself ($3.99 usd). For those of wu who prefer a less seedy route, RC Master was kind enough to give us a more “standard” link. Definitely go and check it out!(GrimBrother One 05:53:14 UTC)

  • If You Can Also Ride a Mongoose I’m Buying It Right Now

Das Kalk was the first to let us know about the opening motion comic from the new SSX title. At first I was like “What does this have to do with – ooooohhhhh! That’s bizarre.” See if you catch it too!(GrimBrother One 05:50:31 UTC)

  • GAFfable Grab Bag

The fine forum folk over at NeoGAF have been a buzzing a bit with some neat tidbits from around the web. Here is a selection of their sleuthing…

    • Hitmonchan107 found an interesting article from VG24/7 with a few comments from former Bungie founder Alex Seropian (in the news a fair bit lately, ‘eh?) talking about his high hopes for Halo’s future with 343 Industries.
    • Homeboyd noticed what looks to be a preview for a special OXM UK publication titled “Halo: The Game that Changed the World.”
    • Meanwhile VivaciousJazzy wanted to make everyone aware of… well, of this. Don’t feel awkward, I couldn’t stop watching either.

    Go have a look!(GrimBrother One 05:25:36 UTC)

Last week’s event was amazing. Please join us this week as we test large-scale Invasion and 6 v. 6 Invasion game types.

    From BAKSMAK:

These clips are all from around the time the MLG playlist came out until about the end of last August. So, about
nine(-ish) months of clips. When getting these clips, I was by no means a “montager,” but I still am really happy and proud of what I have.

Something I really tried to focus on in this montage was variety, so you won’t see a ton of Sniper Exterms (although you’ll see some) but instead you will see a balance of sniper clips, DMR clips, and something I really enjoy to watch, two-for-ones. Not only did I try and have some clip variety, I tried to have map variety as well. I didn’t want an all Sanctuary montage like most MLG montages, so you’ll see about as many Countdown and Zealot clips as you do Sanctuary clips.

I genuinely hope that each and everyone of you enjoys this and as always, feedback is very much appreciated!
