Podtacular 278: Mailbag Show
Download | Shownotes
On today’s show, we pull out the dusty mailbag and read your comments on the show’s we’ve had over the past couple of weeks. Needless to day, there are lots of opinions and questions out there about the Halo universe and Halo 4. We also have special guest Rob Imbs (Just Rob) who is making a film, Game Changers , based on two professional Halo players who are best friends pursuing different lives around gaming. It is an independent film driven by Indiegogo, similar to Kickstarter. If you like what you hear about the film in the podcast, be sure to head over to their project page and donate to the film. It would be cool if we had a lot of people listening contribute to the project. If you do go over there and donate, be sure to put “Heard on Podtacular” in the comments. Enjoy

We heard from Kontrol Freek that the winner of their Farewell to a Legend contest has been announced – go see who’s going to be playing on his new Reach Xbox 360 with a Master Chief vs the Flood statue in the background (and a pair of Freek Legendarys on his controller!) In the near future! In addition, Kontrol Freek is sending along a Steve-Downes-signed pic of Master Chief to us (one of these); we’ll figure out a suitable giveaway in the near future! Everybody wins. (There are still a few FPS Freek Legendarys in stock, so if you haven’t grabbed a pair, do it now!)(Louis Wu 16:55:15 UTC)

Queso Man 11
Queso Man let us know that his 11th montage is now online – he lists it as his ‘penultimate chapter on Reach’, but I think he means that it’s the last one. This release in in tribute to Bungie’s last weeks of Halo stat keeping – there are some pretty great moments in there. Go watch!(Louis Wu 16:12:47 UTC)

Banshee Stealing Guide
Folks have noticed that the ‘knock a banshee off the platform’ trick on AotCR is a bit harder in Halo Anniversary than it was in the original game… so Rockslider put together an illustrated guide which might help in pinning down that sweet spot we all THOUGHT we knew about. Go see! (Louis Wu 15:35:16 UTC)

Heroes and Helicopters
Bungie has posted a new Mail Sack for your reading pleasure – its questions shed light on some of the oddities present in the Bungie community, while its answers do the same for the Bungie development staff. As always, a fascinating read. Did you know there are still easter eggs to be found in Halo 3 (and other Halo titles)? I’d guessed as much… but it’s nice to have confirmation.(Louis Wu 17:25:55 UTC)

The Anatomy of Halo: The Library
Halo Waypoint’s ‘The Anatomy of Halo’ series has a new release – this one focuses on the Library. This piece makes me alternate between fascination with the structure, and sadness that in all the fighting I did in there, I never ONCE tried to access any of those peripheral databases, to learn of our galaxy’s history. What a wasted opportunity!(Louis Wu 17:19:39 UTC)
