Stretching Their Boundaries
There’s a fascinating look back at the development of the Halo 3 multiplayer map Construct over at Bungie.net – the designers discussed how it started, what changed over time, and what they’d do differently at this stage. You can read it and think “oh, man, they should have stuck with this idea!” or “why did they scrap that part?” – or you can read it and realize that there are lots and lots and LOTS of factors that go into making a great map – and not all of them will be presented to you in a particular game. Check it out!(Louis Wu 13:27:04 UTC)

I have a special treat for you folks today. Burnie and his son JD worked together and cut some awesome Achievement Hunter videos in Lego Indiana Jones 2. I have a feeling that Geoff might be out of a job soon.

Followed oh-so-closely by the “You’re a teacher?” “Part-time.” guide.

AH: Respawn Radio – 032: Delay of Game [Ustream Edition!]
Due to some technical difficulties, this week’s finished, edited, shiny and polished episode of Respawn Radio is going to be delayed. To tide over any ravenous Undead Heads who need their fix of over-opinionated nerdgasms, I’m putting up the live show for your listening pleasure.
As soon as a certain host’s computer is up and running again, you can expect the finished product accompanied by a much more descriptive… description.

AH: Saboteur-gasm!
Yo guys, Geoff and I have been tag-teaming the hell out of Saboteur and you get to feast in the results!
Up first is my lame excuse as to why we aren’t going to be making a map for Saboteur! Hooray!
Up next, Geoff shows us how to pick up a quick 25 GS towards the beginning of the game. Don’t get caught with your hand in the cookie jar!
And lastly, we relive the good old days of Duck Hunt and pick up the Pigeon Parfait achievement.
More to come!

RT: Saboteured
I don’t know if you’ve played The Saboteur yet (AH videos, ahem), but it’s pretty aight. You probably already know this (you pervert), but you can unlock nudity via a free DLC code bundled with the game. Once you enter it in, the rumor is that it emails your grandmother to tell you about your deviant lifestyle. She’s going to be so disappointed.

AH: Major, Major Feature Upgrade
Woohoo!
Boy am I excited to tell you about the two latest features Ben has implemented for Achievement Hunter! Leaderboards is fairly self-explanatory, but I’m so excited I still have to talk about it. Our site now has Leaderboards (updated from Xbox every 60 minutes). You can view every user on the site, RT Staff, AH Staff, and your Friends List. Now you can instantly feel better about yourself by seeing how much higher your Gamerscore is than your “friends”. Take for instance Jack, who’s Gamerscore is barely 26,000. Hahahahaha. It works! Now I feel great!
Moving along to the coolest feature ever, Achievement Races. You can now create your own Achievement races in one of three ways. You can chose to have a race for total Gamerscore (ie. first user to a 100,00 gamerscore), an incremental amount (like first to 1,000 pts), or game specific (like first to get 1,000 pts in Modern Warfare 2). The races are also updated every 60 minutes, and will allow all users to go nuts competing with each other.
To start things off, we’ve created a staff race to 1,000 pts. I feel sorry for the competition. Either they lose and look like chumps, or beat me and get fired.
Please take a look at these new features (located under the games dropdown tab), and let us know what you think, there’s bound to be a bug here or there, and you might think of cool ways to use these features that we haven’t yet. Oh, and if you see a game missing from the race dropdown, be sure to let us know. We can add it in in about two seconds.
