  • Community Spotlight: The Bees Knees

We missed this yesterday – but Bungie posted a new Community Spotlight, this time glowing over the the group ‘The Bees Knees’, who hail from Penny Arcade country. • AH: Splinter Cell Freezing Work Around

If you are one of those out there that is trying to play Splinter Cell Conviction but cannot due to the game freezing look no further than this post! Here is what you do:

    1) Go to your Dashboard -> System Settings -> Memory
    2) Hit (Y) for Device Options
    3) Select Clear System Cache
    4) Boot Conviction back up and select “No, don’t update” for the update.
    5) Play the game until you get past your freezing point and get two auto saves past it.
    6) Go to Dashboard again, grab the update and then play the game normal!

NOTE The game will freeze again at the next checkpoint after another weapon crate. You are warned

Thanks to Lifeform287 to pointing me in the right direction

Below is what I found while playing. The above list is what you can do for now but you WILL have to play offline.
UPDATE: Found out that if you unplug your 360 from the internet after doing the workaround (and then getting the update) walking past the freezing area then plug back in/reconnect to XBL your game will not freeze (at least for now). Now I hope this helps even more and you can all go back to playing this amazing game. More updates will come! This here will allow you to play the game online thus earning time stamps for your achievements!

Final Work around update: Just found out that the update will still affect your game in future checkpoints. It has to do with the weapon crates. I just used one and at the next checkpoint . . .freeze. So for now it seems you have to play the game full offline in order to avoid game corruption. The fully final update will be posted when Ubisoft pushes forward a patch.

  • 5 Things to do Before they Flip the Switch

Brian Gilmore sent us a link to an article I wish we’d been able to post last night (though as far as I know, Halo 2 is STILL running, so maybe it’s not too late): Teabag Prevention came up with a list of 5 things to do before Halo 2 on LIVE goes down forever. Go check ’em off!(Louis Wu 15:03:30 UTC)

Not sure how long it’ll continue, but Halo 2 Matchmaking is still on, several hours past its expected shutdown. Goodbye, old friend. (Louis Wu 12:43:01 UTC)

  • AH: Co-Op FTW!

Ahoy folks. Geoff and I picked up Splinter Cell: Conviction yesterday and are loving the hell out of it. We figured the best way for us to be productive and play the game was to create guides for you co-op fiends. There is an achievement to beat the co-op story on Realistic mode, so here we go, guides to get you through all of them.

Each level has multiple chapters, so we’re going to go chapter-by-chapter through each of the levels, starting with St. Petersburg Banya.

Oh, and keep in mind, we’re not the most badass of Sam Fisher controllers…we aren’t going for speed, accuracy or anything like that, so don’t yell. If we can do it, I promise you, you can too.

Without further ado, here is part 1 of level 1, Canal Entrance, enjoy.
