Community Member of the Week: JSA343
Every Monday, we feature a community member who does one or more of the following things: routinely goes above and beyond for their fellow forum members, is a positive and active member of the community, and/or sends me mass amounts of cat pictures. This week our Community Member of the Week is JSA343. Read a little more about him below, then hit his profile to learn why he does it all for the nook(ie)!
Gamertag: JSA343.
Origin of Gamertag: My initials, and the number symbolizing one of my favorite characters and the new developers of Halo.
Current clan/community: Halo Waypoint.
Halo game(s) you are currently playing: Halo: Anniversary and Halo: Reach.
Favorite game type and map: SWAT and tough one…I’ll say Ridgeline at the moment.
Preferred control scheme: Default.
Halo playing style (offense, defense, sniper, driver, etc.): I try to be offensive and sometimes end up going Lone Wolf, but I go defense when losing bad.
Favorite character: I’ll say 343 Guilty Spark. He and the other Monitors always appealed to me.
Favorite book: Hmm…I’ll say Evolutions because it has a lot of smaller stories I enjoyed. Second up, probably Halo: Cryptum.
Favorite Halo quote: “When I joined the Corps, we didn’t have any fancy-shmanzy tanks. We had sticks! Two sticks and a rock for the whole platoon—and we had to share the rock! Buck up, boy, you are one very lucky Marine!” -Johnson
Anything else we should know? I have my own little Halo fanfiction expanding in my head. I really need to start writing it down. I think I’m going to call it Halo: Defiant Until The End.

HBO’s Legacy Gameplay Tricks – Back Online!
A long, long time ago, we let our Tricks section die – erm… go into hibernation. (We moved servers, and more importantly platforms, and there simply wasn’t anyone with the time to rewrite the code to work in the new environment.) A much shorter time ago, JDQuackers contacted me and asked what would be involved in bringing this section back to life. And today, his work is revealed – the tricks section (whose newest entry will turn 10 years old next month) is now back online! My hat goes off to Mr. Quackers (no relation to pete_the_duck) – this collection was truly representative of the soul of HBO for quite a long time, and it’s been hard to see it offline for so long. Go reminisce!(Louis Wu 17:53:14 UTC)

Halo Community Tournament: Paintball

From HC SLIK:
http://halocommunity.com is unleashing the next amazing Halo: Reach tournament for you in the form of PAINTBALL! That’s right, we have tweaked some amazing maps that will be perfect for a paintball tournament. Charge up your pistol, and get ready to have a blast!
The tournament will play host to a best-of-three game series, where each game is a five-round (one life per round) Speedflag paintball game. Each round is a one-minute lightning round, with 30 second sudden death if the flag is being held. Flag does not have to be home to score. The carrier is fast but cannot jump high, and is weaker than all other players.
Halo: Reach paintball is all about the Plasma Pistol! A normal kill is one overcharged plasma, or two pellet shots. With only one life, teammates will re-spawn in a host-box of sorts, with the ability to see the field and call out for any living teammates. There’s no time to camp, so you better make your shots count! Game type and map settings will be downloadable from HC Deja’s File Share, no later than a week before the tournament.
Our winning team of four will be taking home 1600 MS Points EACH, and other prizes may be scattered about throughout the tournament crowd! This tournament will take place on September 15, 2012. It is FREE to enter, so sign up now!
