Podtacular 316: Forward Unto Dawn Episode 1
Download
October 5th premiered the live-action series Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn. The series starts off with Colonel Thomas Lasky receiving the distress call from Cortana that was transmitted out at the end of Halo 3. We flash back to Lasky’s time at Corbulo Academy of Military Science as a cadet and see first hand the trials he is going through. His feelings about the civil war with the Insurrectionists and disregard for the chain of command has put tension between him and the rest of his squad. While he struggles through the academy, with his mother’s and brother’s military records hanging over his head, he is also experiencing drastic side effects of cryo training. Will Lasky find the strength and resolve to make it through the academy? Enjoy

Oboe Plays: Halo Reach P.5 (Long Night Of Solace)
OboeCrazy and friends are playing through all the Halo games in chronological order, to prepare for Halo 4. Today, they released Reach Episode 5: Long Night of Solace (yeah, I’ve been lax about noticing these – you can find the rest in the Associated Videos off to the side). It’s just under half an hour long (some judicious edits for the sake of flow), and shows off some nice teamwork. Go watch!(Louis Wu 20:04:10 UTC)

Halo 4: NEW Spartan Ops Gameplay from Australia
Some new Spartan Ops gameplay was collected at EBGames Expo in Australia – awesome, wide-open vistas and Gauss Hog action. It’s off-screen, and there’s no sound, but if you’re not trying to stay dark, this will pump you up for the start of the Spartan Ops season! Thanks, TheOddOne.(Louis Wu 19:59:46 UTC)

Off-screen Campaign Gameplay from Down Under
Josh Holmes is currently in Australia, at the EBGames Expo – he did a presentation showing off some campaign gameplay. (It’s the same segment of Level 3 that Frankie showed off at Eurogamer Expo last week – the video quality is way worse, but the lag is better.) Same spoilers as before – the run-through stops at roughly the same spot (well, a LITTLE bit further). Thanks, TheOddOne.(Louis Wu 17:44:26 UTC)

Podtacular 315: FLOOD!
Download | Shownotes
Judging by the title of this show, you can probably conjure a guess that there’s flood involved in this episode, in which case you’re right. This week’s bulletin features many things including details about the new Flood mode in War Games, including all possible multiplayer medals you can earn for the game mode. Among the flood of information, the final two maps have been revealed though YouTube videos: Abandon, which is a new mid-sized map great for 4v4 games and Meltdown, which is vaguely familiar to Ice Fields from Halo: PC. We have a trailer for the Mantis as well featuring all the functions, including an interesting stomp animation. Finally, for all of you audiophiles out there, there is a remix contest going on with some pretty nice prizes that you can participate in. If you haven’t gotten a chance to the latest Sparkcast either, we hit the major points regarding weapons, armor abilities, armor mods, and vehicles. Enjoy

Big Shiny Robot Reviews Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn Episode 1

From SenadorKooch:
I had the opportunity to have an early look at the first episode of the Halo web series Forward Unto Dawn so here’s my thoughts on it. For those that don’t know, Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn is a live-action web series set in the Halo universe and will feature Master Chief and other characters that will appear in Halo 4. It takes place at the start of the human and Covenant war and leads up to the events of Halo 4.
Halo fans will love Forward Unto Dawn, but anyone should be able to watch, especially those that like sci-fi. It’s not over the top and everything feels grounded. Prior Halo knowledge isn’t necessary, but for fans there’s lots to pick up on and it’s right at home in the Halo fiction.
I found myself watching with a giant grin that didn’t let up. The ending implies some awesome stuff is about to happen, and I’m excited to see where the series goes. This is Halo live-action done right and I can’t wait for more.

Achievement HORSE 95
The most recent Achievement HORSE ( AH.com | YouTube) is a little different than previous episodes – it’s less about the Halo, and more about Gavin Free’s indiscretions. Thanks, Nikko B201.(Louis Wu 14:52:53 UTC)
