Do not use on your brain
Shadders noticed a really cool Energy Sword Table Lamp at Etsy – it ain’t cheap ($75, plus shipping), but it’s definitely gorgeous. Go look! (There are only 3 of ’em, so if you like, buy soon.)(Louis Wu 15:06:31 UTC)

Halo 4: Making you want to explore
Digital Spy has an interview with Frank O’Connor – it’s a great read. Frank talks about some of the overarching goals the team had as they put together the campaign, and how these play out in the finished game. There’s also a nice description of the difference between an episodic campaign experience (like Spartan Ops) and a single-segment one (like the standard campaign). Worth your time! Thanks, bluerunner.(Louis Wu 15:01:56 UTC)

Unmistakeably Halo
T3 posted a Halo 4 preview – it contains campaign spoilers (minor) and some rather shallow generalizations. Take a look if you’re trying to get your eyeballs on everything Halo 4. Thanks, TheOddOne. (Louis Wu 15:00:43 UTC)

Change of Plans
Red vs Blue Season 10 barrels on – Episode 18 was released last night… and it gives you a slightly different look at Church. (Slightly.) This one’s pretty much devoid of humor… but what replaces it grounds the characters. Go watch. Thanks, Vincent. (Louis Wu 14:59:57 UTC)

It’s baa-ack…
For years, it was a tradition at HBO that we would host a pumpkin-carving contest, and you guys would make us feel warm and fuzzy all over with the amazing creations you sent us. Last year, we skipped this tradition, because things were simply too busy to make it happen. We made a lot of people sad when we did that, however… so the 343 Guilt O’ Lantern contest is back. The prize list isn’t live yet… but hey, you’re not doing this for prizes, right? (Right?) Don’t worry – there will be a sizeable prize list, long before the contest actually ends. Don’t wait for us, though – get to carving! Entries can be submitted anytime between right now and October 31 – we’ll start the voting process soon after that. Make us proud!(Louis Wu 19:56:39 UTC)

You know, unless it was Halo…
Kotaku recently spoke to Stewart Hendler, the director for Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn, and discussed how he got involved with the project, how the Master Chief fits into it all, and where the FuD story fits into the universe as a whole. Cool read, go check it out!(GrimBrother One 19:19:00 UTC)

Community Member of the Week: CruelLEGACEY
Every Monday, we feature a community member who does one or more of the following things: routinely goes above and beyond for their fellow forum members, is a positive and active member of the community, and/or sends me mass amounts of cat pictures. This week our Community Member of the Week is CruelLEGACEY. Read a little more about him below, then hit his profile to learn more about the man behind the machinima!
Gamertag: CruelLEGACEY.
About me: My name is Nevin, but I’m known around here as CruelLEGACEY. I’m 29 years old, and I live with my wife in Toronto, Canada. I’m a guitar player, and have performed in bands for over 10 years now.
I’ve been a Halo fan since the release of CE. I enjoy all aspects of the series; Campaign, Multiplayer, Firefight, Forge, Co-op… I tend to split my time fairly evenly between all the different modes.
I also make a lot of Halo-related content. I started off by making a fail montage series called “The Fails of Reach”. I also like to forge racetracks and feature them in videos. I’ve released several video strategy guides, including Mythic walkthroughs for several of the missions in Halo: Reach. All of this can be found on my website: www.cruellegaceyproductions.com.
I also make a machinima series called Playtime. It’s a comedy series filmed using Halo: Reach. I do the entire series on my own; all the writing, voice acting, music, forge work, body acting, editing, etc. You can watch the entire series on the official Playtime homepage: www.playtimeshow.com.
See you all online!
