Meanwhile, at Bungie.net…
While we slept, Bungie.net turned out all sorts of interesting stuff. Two new mail sacks (last week’s had secrets, this week’s is the best ever), iOS engineer Adam Brown reveals his path to success… and even behind the scenes things coming to light. (Beckx pointed out a Kotaku article that throws light on some Destiny details that were supposed to be in a company-only blog, but was archived by Google.) The dark period isn’t over… but we’re closer to the light!(Louis Wu 17:47:12 UTC)

A Fan on a Mission – An Interview with Jacob Benton

From Laura Akers:As the editor on Halo Waypoint, I basically had two roles: one, to make sure all the text we used was grammatically correct and Halo-appropriate, and two, to test our content and then push the button that would send it out into the world. When you’re at the end of the pipeline like that, it means a lot of late nights. Luckily (for me, anyway), I was rarely alone. Most nights, I had the company of our first video editor, Jacob Benton. Jacob was, and remains, a jack-of-many-trades. In addition to editing together our videos, he — along with Jeremy Patenaude (check out Jeremy’s interview here) — was our Halo fact-checker. He spent months working with our people on the backend to get the forums just right. He helped host Halo events. And eventually, he became a mission designer on the long-awaited Halo 4. From super-fan to one of the creative minds behind Halo 4, Jacob remains one of the most grounded, humble, and kindest people I know. He also possesses the ability to have played Halo, for over a decade now, without swearing. No joke.

Free XP and Armor – only a little cheating
There are a bunch of unlocks for various goodies hidden throughout Halo 4, and the folks on the Halo Waypoint forums are doing a great job of documenting them. However, since the solutions are spread out across a LOT of pages of posts, Shadders was kind enough to gather the info together in a single post on his Little English Halo Blog. Skip this if you like to solve puzzles on your own. Swing by if you’re lazy and just want goodies.(Louis Wu 18:37:39 UTC)
