AH: Gears Of War 2 20x XP Weekend Details

So it is finally here! The event we all helped happen will be starting July 22nd at 12:30 PM EST (-5 GMT) until July 25th at 8:00 PM EST (once again -5 GMT). But there will be some extra things going on in those Horde Waves as the official release states:
If thats not enough, were shaking up Horde with waves of Bolters (Boltok-slingin Drones), Boomers (every flavor), and Bloodmounts (oh, craprun!).
A wave of Bloodmounts. Combine that with Flame Throwers and it might be a good time to snag Is It Hot or Is That Just You? as long as you play in a Dark Corners map. No matter what though, people will have a ton of fun this weekend playing some Gears 2 and snagging those level achievements. One final note:Rod Fergusson (the guy we all follow on Twitter now) did slyly mention that 20x won’t be the highest Gears 2 will get . . .

AH: Death By Cube: 3 More Achievements
‘Sup, guys?
So Casey and I got another Death by Cube video for you, this time covering 3 more Achievements along the way. This pretty much covers all the major stuff in the game, aside from 2 multiplayer Achievements (we may need people for that later), and the big one for getting a medal in every level, and apparently some of the last ones are a bitch. We’ll see how it goes. Either way, enjoy!

Around The Ring Episode 17 – Team Fortress 2 Engineer Update
Download
It’s time for another show! Once again held up in delivery because SOMEBODY never replies to their IMs. Nobody submitted…so it’s your fault we ran out of stuff to talk about. This one is about the update that the Engineer class in Team Fortress 2 received. This show took two takes, but in total with the mishap only took three hours to record. The funnier bits from the failed first take come in at the very start, so you’ll hear those before the actual show starts. Have fun with that intro. Guests on the show include Alchanii, who you’ll remember from the last show we did, and our very own Painkilla who now hosts the Gamer1 podcast. In this episode, we discuss the engineer update, Funnyboy drinks some green tea, and Painkilla levels up in World of Warcraft. It clocks in at 84:47, so you’ll have plenty of fun. 6 minutes of bloopers. No show-notes this week, there’s really nothing much in them. You can look at the album art by clicking on the image, it’s 600X600.Enjoy!

Waypoint Tweets Up a Storm
Waypoint’s getting busy on Twitter – there are a couple of recent tweets that might be of interest to you. They’re bringing something new to San Diego this week (thanks, GrimBrother One), and will show it off soon; GLYPH added some details on timing (keep an eye out for ‘Preview Night’ tonight on Waypoint). Also, they’re asking for questions about the Halo fiction (thanks, Hedgemony) – the ones they pick will be answered at the Halo Universe Panel on Sunday. (They’ve already chosen one from yesterday, but keep an eye on the feed; they’ll solicit new questions again later today.) Finally, they announced that Karen Traviss will be writing a new series of Halo novels, starting with the sequel to Ghosts of Onyx. (Read the press release for full details.) Thanks to Urban Reflex for that last. Whew! Update: Traviss clarifies on her blog that the upcoming book is not exactly a sequel:It isn’t a sequel to Ghosts of Onyx in the sense that you mean a sequel, i.e. a continuation of the same story with the same cast- these novels are just set after it and follow the events of Halo 3. There’ll be new characters and new storylines.
Thanks, hnc.(Louis Wu 12:49:12 UTC)
