Today kicks off the 2013 Halo 4 HORSE tournament! We begin round one with Achievement Hunter Ray and Community Manager Barbara. Place your bets now!
Editor’s note: Language is mature. Proceed with caution.

From HaloTracks:
This is the winner of the Demo Track Build Off! This track is one large structure designed for demo. There are many shortcuts that allow you to cut to different parts of the track, ultimately allowing multiple blocks per lap. Some of the best features are a bridge that blockers can push racers off of, an invisible bridge that blockers can bounce across from one side of the track to the other, an elevator that helps blockers to get from floor to floor, and an outdoor area with several shortcuts connecting to it and his name written on the floor!

From The Halo Mole:
Announcing The Halo Mole: the first adaptation of a reality TV show into the Halo Universe. The Halo Mole gets its inspiration from the reality TV show The Mole, which has aired in multiple countries with prize money up to one million dollars. Contestants of The Mole participate in challenges to try to earn money towards a prize pot the winner will claim, but within the group of contestants is a Mole: a traitor, a saboteur whose goal is to try to prevent the other players from gaining the money, without exposing their identity. At the end of each episode, usually after two challenges, the players take a quiz on details of the Mole. The player who answers the most questions incorrectly about the Mole is the victim of the Mole and eliminated from the competition. The last person standing is declared the winner and earns the money.
For The Halo Mole, contestants have the chance to win up to 25,000 Microsoft Points and the title of the first Halo Mole. Ten contestants will be chosen with one selected to be the Mole. People can register for The Halo Mole by going to The Halo Mole website. Our teaser is posted on the front page, along with a button for people to apply. The contest will take place two weeks after contestants are selected at the end of May. When the contest is complete, The Halo Mole YouTube series will start production to be aired approximately a month afterwards in July. We would like to see this be a huge success so please help spread the word.
Here at Rampancy, we’ll be starting a new series on the Anger, Sadness and Envy podcast: a video Let’s Play series of Bungie’s classic science fiction shooter, Marathon, as played using the modern Aleph One engine under Mac OS X. All three games in the Marathon series (Marathon 1 and 2 by Bungie, and Marathon Infinity by Double Aught, a studio made up of Bungie alums) are available to play on Mac, Windows, and Linux from http://source.bungie.org.
We’ll also be playing with a remixed version of the Marathon music, originally written by Bungie founder Alex Seropian and remixed and remastered by JPL planetary scientist Chris Hardgrove. (We don’t talk about the music in the first episode but we’ll get to it, I promise). You can get his remix, as well as lots of other cool Marathon music-related stuff, at http://themarathonmusic.com
So, without further ado, the first level of Marathon 1: Arrival as played by Blackstar and myself.
Halo is a fictional universe. However, sometimes we catch sight of things in real life that remind us of our favorite science fiction video game franchise. This particular series, titled Halo in Real Life, showcases those very moments. Enjoy the subtle Halo references sometimes spotted when out and about in the real world, and if you have a picture you’d like to submit for possible future inclusion, send it to bsangel[at]halowaypoint.com!

From Joshua:
So there are these people that come to Times Square every day, dressed up as different cartoon/game characters to take photos with tourists for tips. Recently the people who do this have been getting robbed at the end of their day, so this is where this picture comes in: The police have been dressing up as our favorite hero “Master Chief” and pretending to be out taking pictures for tips just like everyone else so they have a better opportunity to bust the individuals robbing these innocent people. I find it very honorable that the NYPD is doing this and I find it EXTREMELY cool that they chose the Master Chief as the costume of choice. So there it is, my Halo IRL photo!

April 15th, 2013 changed the lives of the people of Boston and its surrounding communities. Since the National Grifball Association is headquartered out of Boston, we felt action should be taken on our behalf to help our fellow citizens in this time of need. Over the next two weeks, we will be holding multiple “marathon-themed” Grifball events, and we have an open charitable donation campaign on HopeMob.org. Donations are now being accepted and will continue to be open throughout the events. Please give generously, as every donation will completely go to The One Fund Boston, Inc. We are also looking to have the event sponsored, and details for any sponsorships will arrive in the coming days. If you are reading this, and would like to help us in the way of sponsorship, please send an email to SquirrelBurrito or MasterSundown. Should this happen, we may hold prize raffles and other events to help raise money for those who were injured and their families.
EVENTS
May 4th 6:00PM ET – May 5th 8:20PM ET – Live 26.2 hour Grifball stream. We are asking interested community leaders and Halo personalities to join us on the stream on the NGA Grifball Twitch.tv channel for half-hour blocks of Grifball. We are maintaining a Google document with all available time slots. Please contact us in any of the ways listed on the document if you are interested in participating.
May 6th – May 12th: We will be encouraging the community to commit to playing 26 games of Grifball during this week. Players who report their games through a form on our site will be eligible to win prizes when the week is over. We will also give a prize to the player who gets the most sponsorships for this event. More details, including how to donate or sponsor your favorite Grifballer, can be found here and will continue to be updated as the event nears.
In addition, we are strongly considering holding a pay-to-play Grifball tournament, to be held on or around May 18th, depending on the amount of interest from the community at large. 80% of the fees for the tournament will be donated to charity and 20% will go to the winning team. If this is something you and your Grifball team would be interested in, please drop us a line. There will be a cap of 16 teams (with four players) for this event.
To stay up-to-date with this charity drive and our events, be sure to watch the grifball.net forums, as well as following @Grifballnet, @squirrelburrito and @MasterSundown on Twitter. Thank you for your time and support!

New studios always face challenges when developing their first game and 343 Industries isn’t without its own set of flaws. They were given the reigns of a triple-A game and were running full steam ahead to produce the next big hit in the franchise. Every studio has its ups and downs during game development and it certainly shows from time to time. Halo 4 is a game many people had high hopes for, being the successor to the smash hit Halo 3. The return of the Master Chief and the re-imagination of Halo 4′s multiplayer had people on the edge of their seats waiting to get their hands on it come November last year. For a while, people loved the game, but then that appreciation slowly started to dwindle as frustrations with lack of information in the campaign was realized, core functionality of War Games was recognized missing, and many other aspects of the game exposed. Gamasutra recently sat down with Josh Holmes, Kiki Wolfkill, and Frank O’Connor discussing the story behind developing Halo 4 and some of the quotes sent the Halo community rioting on social media. We take this show to talk about our thoughts on what said in the article and hope that you’ll read it for yourself and make your own determinations and opinions. Finally, support the future of the franchise by posting constructive criticisms on the Waypoint Forums.
Some people show their love for Halo by playing the games. Others get a relevant image permanently placed upon their body. Enjoy this particular example of a Halo-related body modification, and if you have a picture you’d like to submit for possible future inclusion, send it to bsangel[at]halowaypoint.com!
