I’m getting married next April and being a HUGE halo fan, I decided to make a miniature Halo ring for my wedding band! I know it’s not a tattoo, but I’ll be wearing it for the rest of my life. It’s a titanium band, with the features of the original ring laser engraved on both the exterior and interior of the ring.
The Mole was originally a TV show first aired in Belgium and is currently in production in Bulgaria and the Netherlands (the longest running series of the franchise). In 2001, both the United States and the United Kingdom picked up the series becoming very successful. Due to lack of funding, the UK version was cancelled after 2 seasons, and after a 4-year hiatus, the US version concluded with Season 5. Australia is bringing back the series for 2013.
During The Mole, 10-14 contestants are chosen as players, but unknown to the contestants, one of them is the Mole. The contestants, as a team, must complete challenges worth a designated amount of money. During the challenges, contestants must try to figure out who is sabotaging them from within. At the end of each episode, the contestants take a quiz based on the Mole’s personal life and their actions during that episode. The contestant, who scores the lowest on the quiz, is eliminated. Players have the opportunity to earn exemptions during challenges. An exemption grants a player an automatic free pass to the next round of the competition, but this usually comes at a cost to the team. When three contestants remain, the final quiz is taken. The contestant with the highest score on the final quiz is the winner and claims the money accumulated by the team during the challenges.
For The Halo Mole, there will be 10 contestants selected (9 candidates and 1 Mole). Each episode will consist of 2 challenges (along with short interviews), a quiz and elimination. Each episode should take no more than 90 minutes depending on the length of the challenges. We will film two episodes a day, meaning that any contestants must be available for at least 3 hours over the 4 consecutive days that we will be filming (times will be arranged to suit all chosen contestants but will take place in June). We’re excited about this project and hope you are, too!

Yesterday’s Xbox Reveal showcased the new Xbox One, revolutionizing entertainment in the living room from how we watch TV to how we play video games. But what do we have to say about it? What benefits have been brought to the table that will benefit the current Xbox 360 gamers and cause them to go shell out money this holiday to get the latest and greatest? We bring you this special roundtable discussion featuring many community leaders to talk about the entire Xbox Reveal presentation including the Recap done by Major Nelson. Of course, we could not let the news of the new Halo TV series slip by our fingers either, so sit back and relax to our three and a half hour discussion on the Xbox Reveal. Joining the roundtable discussion along with Brent Gamer and myself are Lady Luck (GTR), CMNeir (Halo Tricks), Nak3d Eli (YouTube’s Nak3d Halo) HaloFanForLife (HFFL), Ducain (YouTube’s Ducain23, RUL), Goosechecka (GBH), Kalbelgarion (GBH), The Texorcist (GBH), Kete (TRR), Justin Bryce (Drunken Halo), Drax122 (RUL), Micky (RUL), blueamcat (RUL) Chewy (RUL), and Molten Slowa. Halo is a fictional universe. However, sometimes we catch sight of things in real life that remind us of our favorite science fiction video game franchise. This particular series, titled Halo in Real Life, showcases those very moments. Enjoy the subtle Halo references sometimes spotted when out and about in the real world, and if you have a picture you’d like to submit for possible future inclusion, send it to bsangel[at]halowaypoint.com!
If you were intrigued by yesterday’s announcement of a live-action Halo TV show, but wanted more details… we’ve got a couple of articles for you. The Huffington Post has a bit on it (it tickled Bryan Newman that Halo is back to getting mainstream media attention), and NBC News has the clip from the Xbox One announcement in which Spielberg discusses his excitement over the project. Go watch!(Louis Wu 18:09:12 UTC)
Huh. The Halo Medley video we mentioned yesterday was released yesterday afternoon (thanks, TTL Demag0gue) – and then disappeared again. A new version is back up this morning (thanks, thebruce0) – but it’s been recut, with no sign of the 405th members who participated in the first version. This one is just Lindsey Stirling (on violin) and William Joseph (on piano), in the woods – still really cool, and still a fantastic version of the Halo theme… but Spartan-free. Go watch!(Louis Wu 18:02:08 UTC)
Hello, Waypoint goers! With the addition of community-made content going into Matchmaking, custom maps and game types have become an integral part of Halo’s Multiplayer. Forgers and game type creators often work hours, days and even months on their content before it’s considered for Matchmaking, and it’s usually the lack of having a ready player-base to test their maps that makes it takes so long. So I offer an option to our Forgers, a place to bring your maps and game types to have them tested and reviewed by a group of the top Forgers around. You’ll receive top-notch forging tips and tricks to wow your players, improve map spawn and flow, provide a better map experience and get your name out there. You’ll also get to work directly with the Community Cartographers, a select group of community Forge enthusiasts who work with 343 Industries in the search of top-quality content for Matchmaking consideration. Every Wednesday night at 6PM ET, get an invite by sending “AgentPaperCraft” a message over Xbox LIVE, or leave a comment in the Test Night Thread.
Rockslider has put together a guide to help you create videos – it doesn’t contain information about the hardware you’ll need, and it doesn’t contain information about the software you’ll need, but it DOES contain tips on how to optimize your content, how to present it to your audience, and how to ensure that your raw footage contains what you need to get from beginning to end. Give it a read! (He’s started a thread on our forum, if you have comments.)(Louis Wu 19:28:17 UTC)
pete_the_duck stopped by with a new Forge Quacks – this one shows you what an Oddball can do! The game possibilities are… interesting.(Louis Wu 18:48:18 UTC)
Some people show their love for Halo by playing the games. Others get a relevant image permanently placed upon their body. Enjoy this particular example of a Halo-related body modification, and if you have a picture you’d like to submit for possible future inclusion, send it to bsangel[at]halowaypoint.com!
Microsoft just announced the awesomely-named (if I do say so myself) Xbox One, and along with it, a brand new premium television series based in the Halo Universe, and headed by Steven Spielberg. While details are scarce at the moment, we’ll certainly be bringing them all to you as they flow. Stay tuned!(GrimBrother One 18:07:10 UTC)
Last year, we mentioned a teaser pic that showed off Lindsey Stirling, the amazing dancing violinist, holding a giant Halo turret. In December, DevinSuperTramp released his ‘Real Life Halo’ video, and I assumed that was that… but today, DHalo pointed out both a version of the Halo theme played by Lindsey Stirling, and a Behind-The-Scenes vid from DevinSuperTramp, showing the recording session (which seems to be the same recording session as last year’s piece). The actual Halo Medley vid should be live in the next day or so. In the meantime, enjoy everything else!(Louis Wu 17:54:45 UTC)
