Definitely some Bungie fans at Rockstar.
Cody Miller watched the GTA V gameplay teaser released recently… and was reminded of some SERIOUSLY old-school Bungie baddies. (RotaJota added his two cents, too.) If you don’t feel like watching the video, here are screengrabs of the two moments in question (Cody | RotaJota). Nice! (Louis Wu 17:58:11 UTC)

Wait… plasma rifle too?
At the beginning of this week, IGN posted a three-part interview (one | two | three) with Jason Jones – the focus was Destiny, but there was plenty of Halo content in there… after all, Halo was a huge part of Bungie’s reality during the past 15 years. In the first segment, Jones looks back at the Halo 1 pistol, and what actually happened to make it such a superweapon at the last possible moment… and it reminded kornman00 of some of the digging he’d done in the game’s code. Check out his post for some very interesting, very geeky details.(Louis Wu 17:52:46 UTC)

Space Blimp? Whoa.
Stephen Loftus was poking through some Halo 2 game files and ran across an ambient life form that I have never seen before – even now, 9 years after the game’s release! Amazing. Swing by and take a look; it’s likely it was actually cut from the game (nobody’s been able to see it in-game yet)… but even so, you’d have thought that SOMEONE would have noticed it before now. I learn something new every day! (Louis Wu 17:47:17 UTC)

So, Halo 3 is a pretty cool game (part 2)
Catching up on stuff from the week that we’ve let slide… let’s start with a second installment of uberfoop’s “So, Halo 3 is a pretty cool game” reminiscence. Swing by for great pics, great vids – it makes me want to dig out the disc and jump back in! (Louis Wu 17:43:58 UTC)

ASE Ep. 38: Blaspheme Quarantine 1 lvl 10
We’ve been kidnapped by the rampant AI, Durandal! With no information on where we are or what we’re supposed to be doing, we have to survive and escape to continue to fight off the Pfhor invaders. It seems Leela thought that there were some weapons here to find, but Durandal says we’re looking in the wrong place…

ASE Ep. 37: G4 Sunbathing Marathon 1 lvl 9
In order to send a message to Earth 92 light years away, Leela needs us to reactivate the Marathon’s antenna array. Only one problem: the G4 Sunbathing Loading Dock has been plunged into vacuum rendering some of our weapons useless, and is teeming with Pfhor fighters, troopers, hunters and S’pht compilers. We have to make our way to the antenna while dodging enemy fire and keeping an eye on our oxygen meters. Wish us luck!
