Guilt O’ Lantern Update
So you aren’t sure if you’re interested in carving up a pumpkin for our Guilt O’ Lantern contest… let’s see if we can sway you a bit. 343 Industries has put together an amazing list of prizes – they aren’t the only things we’re going to lavish on the winners, but even if they were, it would be a great loot haul! Swing by the Prizes section of this year’s contest page and check out their largesse! (We’ve also heard from SleeperQ, who’s won in the past – he wants to offer some action figures, and maybe even a Halo 4 promo display. And we have our own goodies to add to the pile – it’s gonna be a big pile.) Get to carving!(Louis Wu 04:41:56 UTC)

ASE Ep. 65: What About Bob? M2 lvl 4
Bob doesn’t want to make Ghostbusters 3. I don’t blame him. He also probably doesn’t want to venture down the exhaust vent of a Pfhor geothermal energy plant, but that’s what we ARE doing. At least it’s not sewers.

Halo 4 Matchmaking Update: 10.14.13
This week, we’ve updated Matchmaking with a new Oddball playlist, updates to Team Throwdown, and more. Read below for all the details!
Oddball
The Oddball playlist is centered on two game modes: Oddball and Legendary Oddball. The first is the original game type that shipped with Halo 4, with personal Loadouts and random ball spawning enabled. Much like Legendary King of the Hill, Legendary Oddball offers an experience with BR-start Loadouts and static ball spawning, meaning that if the ball is played (thrown off the map), the ball will return to the same central location each time. These two experiences are available in the first and second voting slots of the playlist, respectively. One of the game types in the third voting slot is brand new to Halo, and contain lots of explosions and sticky things. Stickyball is here!
Stickyball
In Stickyball, players are equipped with the Sticky Detonator and Plasma Grenades. With projectiles and grenades sticking to people, walls and balls, teams fight over the Oddball while trying to avoid getting blown up. We hope you enjoy the game type and we’ll be monitoring feedback for possible inclusion into the Action Sack playlist after the Oddball playlist is replaced with Community Forge Ricochet on October 28th.
Team Throwdown Update
Team Throwdown, our premiere competitive playlist, have been updated to GH057ayame’s “v5” settings. Extensive testing went into the updated maps and game types, and the list of 11 map / game type combinations now looks like this:Team Slayer on Abandon
Team Slayer on Haven
Extraction on Haven
Team Slayer on Onyx
Team Slayer on Pitfall
Ricochet on Pitfall
CTF on Simplex
Ricochet on Simplex
CTF on Skyline
Extraction on Station 9
Team Slayer on Vertigo
As of today, no DLC will be required to play in the Team Slayer playlist. After reviewing the last month of feedback and data from the playlist, we’ve decided to remove the Majestic DLC requirement. One of the primary goals of this experiment was to determine the feasibility of required DLC in Matchmaking, and while we knew the population of the playlist would drop, we found that the resulting numbers did not allow for the optimal Matchmaking experience for this playlist. Moving forward, we’ll continue to investigate the best ways to make DLC content available in Matchmaking. If you’d like to see where all of the DLC maps have been integrated into Matchmaking, this information is always available on the Halo 4 Playlists page. We thank you for your feedback, and encourage you to hop in and enjoy!
In Spartan Ops, we are continuing with an encore of episode 5 with Grunt Birthday Party, IWHBYD and Mythic Skulls enabled. Additionally, weekends in October feature big XP rewards, with increased values on weekend Challenges. If you’re looking for some extra XP, be sure to hop into Matchmaking over the next few weekends!

Completely out of Multiplayer Maps on Halo 4
t00lbox stopped in with word of a video he made showing off the out-of-bounds spaces on a number of Halo 4 multiplayer maps. (It was created with the help of a mod that makes the player immune to death barriers. Don’t try this at home.) Pretty interesting to see just how large some of the spaces really are – and what they’re filled with!(Louis Wu 19:27:15 UTC)

Fails of the Weak 160
It was Friday yesterday, so the AchievementHunter crew released another Fails of the Weak episode. The upcoming release of Halo 3 for free through Games for Gold has stirred up quite the controversy and weary caution for the future of Halo, and rightfully so. AGL has changed tracks for their AGL 10 Indianapolis event to have Halo 3 as the featured game of the tournament. Several competitive community members have responded in a variety of different ways from the news, putting the question of Halo’s future into play. We give our initial thoughts that will inevitably lead to more shows talking about the future of Halo. As usual, we keep you up to date with the latest news in this week’s Halo Bulletin. Enjoy
