  • Halo 4 Matchmaking Update: 4.22.13

This week, Regicide and Grifball have been updated with optimized settings and maps. To create a more consistent gameplay experience, the king’s bounty in Regicide has been adjusted to always be a static 20 points, regardless of length of reign, kills acquired, etc. Also, Complex has been removed from the map rotation, and the following maps have been added:

        Landfall
        Dispatch
        Simplex
        Scythe

Grifballers will be happy to hear that the Grifball playlist has been updated to reflect the most current community settings used by the GrifballHub community. Those of you who get hammered on a regular basis will notice that the game type has been tweaked to create better balance between the weapons, and that Grifball and Grifball Pro now have identical shield, damage, damage resistance and radar settings. Grifball will continue to have one continuous round with auto-pickup turned on, while Grifball Pro will have five individual rounds with auto-pickup turned off. Also, four of the Grifball courts have received repairs and tweaks to create the most balanced playing experience. These tweaks includes repairs, removal of exploitable areas, kill zone fixes and more.

The score limit for Multi-Team has also been bumped up from 300 points (30 kills) to 500 points, to provide the most optimal game length and experience.

We hope you enjoy these updated Halo 4 War Games experiences, and we encourage you to leave your feedback in the War Games Feedback section.

  • Red vs. Blue Episode 1, Remade in Halo 4

    From Teh Spearhead:

I decided to do this since I’ve never tried it before and for the 10th Anniversary of Rooster Teeth. What you see here is a shot-for-shot remake of all the clips in the first episode. Whenever the camera moves or changes angles, that’s reflected here. I just thought it was something I might enjoy doing, and I did. Very much.

  • ShadEO9’s Community Spotlight: Pete the Duck

    From Pete the Duck:

I’ve been playing Halo since the first game was released in 2001, so I experimented with Forge when it was first featured in Halo 3. I’ve never been a very competitive player, so the ability to finely tune spawn placement and weapon balance—the original reason Forge was created—wasn’t something I found myself being interested in.

  • Waypoint Weekly Test Nights

    From AgentPaperCraft:

Hello, Waypoint goers! With the addition of community-made content into Matchmaking, custom maps and game types have become an integral part of Halo’s Multiplayer. Forgers and game type creators often work hours, days and even months on their content before it’s considered for Matchmaking, and it’s usually the lack of having a ready player-base to test their maps that it takes so long. So I offer an option to our Forgers, a place to bring your maps and game types to have them tested and reviewed by a group of the top Forgers around. You’ll receive top-notch forging tips and tricks to wow your players, improve map spawn and flow, provide a better map experience and get your name out there. You’ll also get to work directly with the Community Cartographers, a select group of community Forge enthusiasts who work with 343 Industries in the search of top-quality content for Matchmaking consideration. Every Wednesday night at 6PM ET, get an invite by sending “AgentPaperCraft” a message over Xbox LIVE, or leave a comment in the Test Night Thread.

    Hope to see you there!

  • Podtacular – Halo 4 Spartan Ops, Artifact

    From Dust Storm:

We continue our Halo 4 Spartan Ops coverage as we start to dive into the secrets that Requiem holds. A strange Forerunner artifact has been recovered and brought aboard Infinity, which soon wreaks havoc across the entire ship. Systems begin to malfunction and the Infinity is being pulled towards Requiem. Luckily, Commander Palmer is fast on her feet and manages to save the ship by giving the artifact a firm kick. Dr. Glassman’s curiosity gets the better of him and gets absorbed by the artifact. While you and the rest of your Spartan team can’t do much about it at the time, there are still things to do on Requiem to keep the Covenant and the Prometheans at bay while scientists dive further into the depths of the planet. Again, we are joined by our resident Spartan Ops expert HaloFanForLife. Enjoy!

  • Community Member of the Week: SepheusIX

Every Monday, we feature a community member who does one or more of the following things: routinely goes above and beyond for their fellow forum members, is a positive and active member of the community, and/or sends me mass amounts of cat pictures. This week our Community Member of the Week is SepheusIX. Read a little more about this particular fan below, then hit their profile to learn even more!

    Community Member of the Week

    Gamertag: SepheusIX.

Origin of Gamertag: I liked the mythological name Cepheus and IX is because I was the ninth in my ‘group’.

Current clan/community: Proud to be a leading member of the Section 3 team!

Halo game(s) you are currently playing: Halo 4.

Favorite map, game type and playlist: Lately I’ve been enjoying Adrift, as it fits my play style. As for game type, I really only play Team Slayer/Infinity Slayer. My favourite playlist was the Majestic DLC playlist when it was around!

Least favorite map, game type and playlist: I’d have to say Complex, within the Infinity Slayer rotation, because it doesn’t really fit my expectations of a Team Slayer/Infinity Slayer map. FFA game types and playlists aren’t really my thing.

Preferred control scheme: Recon, sensitivity 8.

Halo playing style (offense, defense, sniper, driver, etc.): Reflexive. I will approach each match with an overall strategy; I always have an opening gambit.

    Favorite Halo character: hydrAi.

Favorite Halo book: I will get around to them… eventually.

Favorite Halo quote: /I SHOULD PROBABLY NOT BE USING 500 YEAR OLD ‘INCLUDED’ SOFTWARE FOR FLIPPING BYTES, AFTER ALL FLIPPING USUALLY MEANS AND MODIFY @#%#@%^#$

Anything else we should know? I’ve created a few ‘things’ since becoming a member of Section 3, such as some puzzles for the community!
