  • GrifballHub at RTX

    From Goosechecka:

About three weeks ago, Kal and I were wandering the aisles of PAX East and wondering if it was possible to raise $1600 for a Grifball booth at RTX. Last night, the Grifball and greater Halo community silenced all doubts and as of 11:00PM EDT had donated $4,623.

Not only is this a huge accomplishment for the Hub and greater Grifball community, but a major step forward for gaming communities. This is the first time a Halo fansite will have a professional presence at an official industry event (exception: Rooster Teeth – but technically they are a company, not a non-profit fan-run site when they started exhibiting). This project highlights the power of the community voice and the passion for community-created content.

Thank you to everyone who made this project possible through donations, re-tweets, video and article sharing and shout-outs. You all are amazing and we are so grateful for your continued support.

  • Waypoint Weekly Test Nights

    From AgentPaperCraft:

Hello, Waypoint goers! With the addition of community-made content into Matchmaking, custom maps and game types have become an integral part of Halo’s Multiplayer. Forgers and game type creators often work hours, days and even months on their content before it’s considered for Matchmaking, and it’s usually the lack of having a ready player-base to test their maps that it takes so long. So I offer an option to our Forgers, a place to bring your maps and game types to have them tested and reviewed by a group of the top Forgers around. You’ll receive top-notch forging tips and tricks to wow your players, improve map spawn and flow, provide a better map experience and get your name out there. You’ll also get to work directly with the Community Cartographers, a select group of community Forge enthusiasts who work with 343 Industries in the search of top-quality content for Matchmaking consideration. Every Wednesday night at 6PM ET, get an invite by sending “AgentPaperCraft” a message over Xbox LIVE, or leave a comment in the Test Night Thread.

Join us this week as we test 4 vs. 4 Objective and Slayer game types on your maps. The party will rotate every three games this time around to accommodate as many players as possible. Hope to see you there!

  • Podtacular – Halo 4 Spartan Ops, Momento Mori

    From Dust Storm:

We begin to approach the climax of Spartan Ops: Season 1 as we cover the fifth episode. The UNSC has recovered a Promethean soul, but the secrets that lie within are uncomfortably familiar to everyone on board the Infinity. Dr. Halsey’s ongoing pursuit for knowledge ends up turning against her, Thorne is teleported to Requeim, and it appears that Dr. Glassman may have activated the Librarian AI. What will be the fate of Glassman, Thorne and Halsey? We must wait to find out in the second half of the season. HaloFanForLife once again co-pilots the show in this cliffhanger. Enjoy!

  • Halo 4 Matchmaking Update: 5.6.13

Today’s Halo 4 Matchmaking update welcomes the addition of new maps into existing playlists, as well as some other fixes and optimization. The maps that have been added were originally showcased in our Community Forge Test and FFA Forge Test playlists, and have since been updated to provide new experiences across multiple game modes. Please note that this list slightly differs from the information provided in the Bulletin – we are working with the below Forgers to ensure that the correct versions of their maps are showcased.

    The following maps have been:

    Added to SWAT
Black Site by The Fated Fire
    Plaza by Smexi Bilzo
    Shutout by SaLoT and NLTROOO

    Added to Rumble Pit
Black Site by The Fated Fire
    Simplex by SaLoT
    Scythe by PA1NTS
    Serenity by DG Intensity
    Opus by SHIFTY time

    Removed from Rumble Pit:
    Shutout by SaLoT and NLTROOO

    Added to Team Objective
    Edifice by Redemption1271 (KoTH)
    Serenity by DG Intensity (KoTH)
    Station 9 by SaLoT (Extraction)

    Added to Infinity Slayer
    Opus by SHIFTY time
    Simplex by SaLoT
    Scythe by PA1NTS
    Shutout by SaLoT

    Added to Flood
Black Site by The Fated Fire
    Malice by AgentPaperCraft
    Serenity by DG Intensity

    Team Snipers
Shutout has been updated with improved respawn points for Team Snipers.

We have decided to remove Shutout (a remake of Halo 2’s Lockout) from the Rumble Pit playlist due to how this version of the map flows in Halo 4. An updated version of Shutout will be placed into SWAT, Team Snipers and Infinity Slayer. Additionally, Simplex will be updated to the Team Throwdown version across all playlists with the exception of Action Sack, as Lightning Flag plays best on the prior version of Simplex due to lines of sight and other factors.

Other Matchmaking updates this week include removing the Grunt Birthday effect from Fiesta Classic in the Action Sack playlist, as well as fixing the suicide respawn point on the map Settler. Lastly, we’ve updated several of the Grifball settings to reflect the correct community settings in regards to Base Player Damage, Grif Damage Resistance, Grif Shield Multiplier and Suicide Penalty.

We hope you enjoy these new maps and updated game variants, and we’ll see you on the virtual battlefield.
