With the announcement of Microsoft’s acquisition of the Gears of War franchise from Epic, Polygon thought it fit to provide an opinion on how they feel that Halo 4 laid the blueprint for the next generation of Gears of War. A recent influx of players to Halo 3 has generated discussions of what is important for the Halo franchise to succeed with Halo 5, but recent news may have Halo fans looking back further than the first HD Halo title. A recent update to the I Love Bees website, an ARG campaign that was run to promote Halo 2, has people speculating on the possibility of yet another Halo Anniversary game releasing this year. Among the rumors is the latest Halo Bulletin covering upcoming matchmaking changes including a special Halo Bowl playlist to be made available during Super Bowl weekend.

Looks like there were a couple of extra skulls in Halo 3: ODST that were cut before the final game was released; YouTuber TehBanStick posted a film showing off gameplay with the ‘Third Person’ skull activated. (As you might guess, it moves you into a 3rd person position off the right shoulder of the player model.) The second unused skull (the Director’s Skull) was actually discussed by dev team members at PAX ’09 – it would have provided hours of commentary that could run over gameplay.
