  • Cutting Remarks.

    by

    in
In today’s One One Se7en, Stuntmutt looks at one of the characters that was cut from Halo 2 – maybe Bungie recognized the terrible pun potential and cut it in an attempt to avert disaster. Oh, well.(Louis Wu 15:24:43 UTC)

  • Zombies Ate the Master Chief.

    by

    in
Over at the Escapist, there’s a great article about honor-system-based Halo 2 gametypes (with Zombies being the primary example); these will never show up in Matchmaking lists (because they require that everyone play by non-enforceable rules), but they’re loads of fun. Really enjoyable writeup. Thanks, mercury.(Louis Wu 15:13:00 UTC)

  • Halo: Portable – now better than ever

    by

    in
Halo: Portable has a bunch of updates – there’s a new design, new bandwidth, a new podcast, and plenty of their usual sorts of content. Swing by and fill up your portable device!(Louis Wu 15:01:30 UTC)

  • Play! In Detroit

    by

    in
A few days ago, Hextall27 pointed out on our forum that Play! (a videogame music concert series) will be coming to Detroit on July 12. We didn’t pick up on it then, so he sent it to us via email. The Play team is hooking up with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra for this event… if you’re in the area, check it out! Halo music will be played.(Louis Wu 14:49:06 UTC)

  • Generating Philosophers of Play

    by

    in
Sep7imus noticed an article over at Wired which discusses the lack of a ‘Lester Bangs’ of gaming. (Lester Bangs, for those of you under 20, wrote about rock music in the 70s and is considered by many to be the first really influential ‘rock critic’.) The article isn’t really Halo-related (Halo 2 gets a tiny mention in passing), but it does make the point that good game criticism will likely always come from sites like this one rather than mainstream professional ‘game critics’. An interesting read!(Louis Wu 14:44:24 UTC)

  • WSVG Tourney Kicks Off

    by

    in

  • Submit Stuff for Episode 71: The Tips Show

Episode 70 is sitting in my inbox, so it will be available as soon as I get home tonight and set it up. In the mean time, we’re recording an episode tomorrow, so we need some stuff to talk about!

I drop nublets like bad habits

Are you this good? If so, why not share a little bit of your expertise with others in the Halo community? We’re looking for Halo 2 gameplay tips this episode for levels 25-35, such as weapon usage, button combos, close combat techniques, sniping tips, effective weapon combo usage, jumping techniques, etc. If you have a Halo 1 or Halo CE tip, we’d be glad to talk about that too. Just write your tip, spellcheck it, click the link on the right side that says submit news and tips, and paste it in there with your gamertag so we can give you credit.

    Map of the month: everything!

Some people have been waiting to share an awesome tip for a map, but it’s not map of the month yet. So this time we’re opening it up to map-related tips for any Halo 2 map! Send us your CTF/assault strats, CTF/assault defense, sniper spots, jumping tips, carney holes, how to own in slayer, etc. and we’ll talk about it. If you’re stumped, just pick a map (coagulation? warlock?) and tell us how to play it at high skill levels for CTF/Assault, Big Team Slayer/Team Slayer, Rumble Pit/Team SWAT, KOTH/Territories, etc.

Deadline for all this stuff is Thursday night. As usual, the earlier you get it in, the more likely your tip will be read on the show. So send your tip now!

    28.1MB – 41:03 Minutes. (Link)

Here it is, our first podcast! It’s a bit late in the week, but the news is still fresh. Thanks a bunch of Seff Raiku for editing and Mothergoat for the music. Don’t forget you can use the contact form to tell us what you think!

    EDIT by Funkmon: Link fixed.

EDIT 2: Feed’s borked. Attempting to fix it.

  • Halo Portable Vidcast!

That’s right, we’ve finally gone off our rockers.

A little while ago, I figured that since we’re already whipping out movies in iPod format, we might as well make a video podcast. You can get the feed here.

It’s on Podcast Pickle right now, and it’ll be on iTunes and Podcast Alley soon. When it does, we’ll link you guys, and send out what passes as a press release, but is really just an e-mail to the podtacular guys and HBO. 😀

This vidcast is just the iPod formatted movies we’ve released, minus the Halo 3 movies due to an FTP problem, but in an easily downloadable form.

    UPDATE:

    Now available on iTunes!

If you have another podcast receiver, copy and paste this feed:

Comment if you have any problems! omgkthxbai

  • Happy Birthday, America!

Have a good Independence Day, everybody! Eat some barbecue, watch some fireworks, and sing a song! Actually no, please don’t sing. If you’re not American, then have fun not doing anything special.

Zarin, obviously from the States, made a fun patriotic video, featuring Grand Old Flag, by George M. Cohan, over at High Impact Halo, and we’ve got it in the usual flavors.

    PSP – 13MB

    Pocket PC – 7MB

    iPod – 9MB

  • To all American Halo fans out there: Happy Independence Day!

Hope you guys have a great day barbecuing, hanging out with friends, playing some Halo, and watching fireworks. Just resist the urge to snipe the fireworks before they’re scheduled to go off. Smile
