  • You Got Questions? Yeah, well.

    by

    in
KP has posted on our forum (and on lots of other forums) that Bungie is looking for questions to answer in this week’s Weekly Update – don’t bother asking about unreleased/unannounced stuff, but if you see this soon after it’s posted, go ahead and toss your question into the hat!(Louis Wu 18:08:19 UTC)

  • News from Halo Orbit

    by

    in
Xerxes, from Halo Orbit (one of the Old Guard – a German Halo website that’s celebrating its 6th birthday today) wrote to point out a few things. They’re running a contest right now – submit artwork and win special ranks on their forums or a place on their team for a Bungie Humpday Challenge. There’s also an extensive interview with their chief editor Legend. And finally, Xerxes is stepping down – it’s been a good run, but it’s time for him to move on; at this point, his last job is to find someone with good web skills to take over. If you read German – go read!(Louis Wu 16:42:53 UTC)

  • When Artists Want to Mess With Your Head

    by

    in
Wow. Bungie fans are nuts. Omega was scanning over some hi-res promo pics, pixel-by-pixel, it seems, when he ran across a Marathon logo tucked into a corner of the Halo 3 Assault Rifle. On an image that’s almost 2500 pixels tall, the logo takes up a square that’s 18×18 pixels… meaning that on a 720p screen, that puppy would be all of 5 pixels on a side, and on a (far more standard) 480p screen, you’re looking at 3 or 4 pixels on a side. Absolutely, totally invisible in-game… but CLEARLY there. (I redid his picture, and made the reference file available, for anyone who wants to look for themselves.) I’d call this an honest-to-goodness egg… nice find!(Louis Wu 11:18:37 UTC)

New game types include a game with tons of vehicles, a diplomacy oddball game, and a couple with sentinel beams. Details on Bungie.net. Another post by Ninja 0n Fire has every excruciating detail on what was changed. Sweet!

Pixellated pointed out another couple of Halo-related episodes of F@NBOY$ – we mentioned one two days ago. I suppose it’s not surprising if one of your three main characters is a 360 Fangirl that you’d use the Master Chief a lot…(Louis Wu 12:49:12 UTC)

  • Submit Stuff for Episode 85: Customs and Callins

Well it’s time to prep for my favorite show: the customs and callins show! So I’m gonna go preheat the oven and dice some onions…

I got this custom where nobody’s allowed to use guns… just harsh language

Got a better custom than this? (Man, I sure hope so) If so, send it on in! We read back the top few custom games people send in on this show, so if yours is good enough we’ll read it off. Just click the submit news and tips link on the right and give us a one-paragraph synopsis of your game type along with your gamertag.

    An interview with… you!

Want to give us a tip, a tale from the foxhole, a halo 3 or halo wars speculation, or sing us a halo song? Give us a call at 206-888-HALO. If it’s good, we’ll play it on the show and make you famous! This is now naarated by the one and only CapnKrunk.

This one time a modder removed everybody’s arms and legs from the game. We had to hop around and try to bite eachother.

Got a cool story from Halo gameplay? Let us know! Whether it’s a really close game, a time in RL that you had a Halo or Podtacular moment, or your experience with cheaters and modders, we wanna know. Just send it in with your gamertag and if it’s good, we’ll read it on the show.

    Deadline is Thursday night

at about 5:30pm EST, so get those submissions in quick! The earlier we get it, the more likely it’ll get on the show. Move it or lose it! We promise we won’t rip you apart as much as on the last show. Unles u dont spel nething rite.

  • Podtacular Heat Lamp: Painkilla05

This month BrentGamer sits down with Painkilla05, famous internet DJ and IRC op. Find out what’s up with Podtacular’s IRC channel, his awesome podcast Podtacular Radio, and whether he works better than tylenol.

BrentGamer says: How life in the Podtacular IRC going?

Painkilla05 says: You know, everyday stuff. Talking to the IRC general visitors and kicking DM7000 out every so often for telling us what song he’s playing.

*BrentGamer says: How did you become the “Mod” of the Podtacular IRC? *

Painkilla05 says: Well when the IRC just started I wanted it to be really active. One day, me and TFD were just chillin’ and KP joins. He offers to register the channel and give us a bot. I of course say “Yes Please!”. I also am responsible for naming our bot “Fraggy”. Soon after we started getting idiots and spammers so KP needed someone to control the channel when he wasnt around. And so since i’m in the IRC 24/7 he gave me the responsibility

BrentGamer says: How did you find out about Podtacular?

Painkilla05 says: The first time I ever heard of it was around episode 1 or 2 when it was first announced on Bungie. I was thinking, “Wow, this looks like a great community!” and got involved. I remember my first tip I sent in Spelchek forgot my name.

BrentGamer says: What is your favorite Halo 2 moment?

Painkilla05 says: My favorite moment was probably standing ontop of the machine on Waterworks and throwing a sticking all the way into a base through that whole in the top and thus sticking them.

BrentGamer says: How is Pod Radio going?

Painkilla05 says: Podradio is going ok. Currently im trying to get school work done but as soon as thats out of the way everyone will be rewarded with leet electric bliss.

BrentGamer says: Anything special happening for Pod Radio in the future?

Painkilla05 says: None that I can think of. Their isnt really much I can add since its just a radio show. I did however make a Myspace for it.

BrentGamer says: Final Question: Dr. Pepper or Mountain Dew?

Painkilla05 says: I’ll have to go with Mountain Dew. Nothing quenches my thirst and fuels my brain better than the caffeine enriched Dew. However if their was a third Id have to go with Monster. You can’t beat something thats twice Red Bull and the same price!

  • Community Spotlight: Louis Wu

The mother of all spotlights with the father of the Halo community. This week I take a new approach: real-time chat, permitting me to achieve heights of jerkery not previously possible. Read on for some insight into what makes Wu tick, as well as volley after volley of insults.

  • Episode 84: Tips show with special guests from Halowiki.net

    Download | Show Notes

It’s the Tips show, halowiki.net ruthless edition. As usual we gots the man, JVB as co-host, and this time we have Sigafoos and Brathnok from halowiki.net ‘s WikiRiot podcast. We talk about tips people sent in for campaign, multiplayer, and specifically Map of the month: Zanzibar. Actually we go nuts for some reason and rip on like every single person that sent in a tip, which is why this is called the ruthless edition. So don’t feel bad, it wasn’t just you. We plead temporary insanity. We also have an interview later on with Pez and LegendaryMark from halowiki and Clan of Bobs. Pod art this week comes from StigmaticX. I think he spilled a little paint there. Thanks to Ciclonic for lending us his audio editing magic. On with the show!

More Bungie.net content for you today, an extensive interview with everyone’s favorite admin, Louis Wu. It’s done in a new format for the Spotlights, via instant messenger, so it’s a bit more relaxed and insult-laden. Alright, a lot more insult-laden. I’d really like to see some feedback on this format (though all you Wu-ites are obviously biased so I’ll have to discount most of it), if you prefer not to venture into the Bnet forums to do so, you can use the HBO thread started by Big Goalie Dan.(KP 01:02:57 UTC)
