  • RT: Episode 86 Online

Episode 86 of Red vs Blue — “Brass Tacks” is now online for everyone’s enjoyment. We hope that you all are having a very Merry Christmas — hopefully nearly as Merry but not quite as Merry as ours. After all, we have a reputation to uphold. And…

  • RT: Man’s Best Friend

As previous comics have stated, I don’t have the best luck with dogs. That being said, I’m also not a fucking quitter – much to the chagrin of the idiots I work with. Read below to see why I’m totally right and awesome, and they suck eggs. p.s. Remember…

  • RT: The News

Technically I’m on vacation. That means I shouldn’t have to type a bunch of witty, funny stuff for this news post (because I’m usually witty/funny to the extreme). So I wont. I’m not even going to spell chekc. Today’s comic is below. Good Night, And Good…

  • RT: New Years draws near

So, does everyone have plans for New Years Eve yet? If not, you can totally come over to Burnie’s house. I hear he has a pool.

  • Holday

    3 minutes

    From HBO

Traditionally, H:P doesn’t operate on weekends, and I’m not planning on changing that. However, since we neglected to post a Christmas video, and I have time, I converted a new one for youse guise to watch. It’s a classic. Hickadam displays his excellent timing and scene choices in a not so standard Halo music video. Watch it, and you’ll enjoy it. Moreover, it’s a skimpy video, a scant 3 minutes in length. You might as well download it.

At Bungie.net, you’ll find a really short Bungie Weekly Update – Frankie is totally insane, and is lucky not to be dead right now, and he also broke all sorts of speeding limits in the last 24 hours, but we love him anyway. Go read about some general, but heartening, plans for the Halo online community in the coming months. (As always, you can read it in our Weekly Update Archive, as well.)(Louis Wu 23:31:40 UTC)

There’s an interesting interview with Tyson ‘Ferrex’ Green over at Gamepro.com – read it for some insight into Bungie’s multiplayer philosophies. Thanks, Coffin Joe.(Louis Wu 23:30:16 UTC)

  • Who cares about Halo’s story?

    by

    in
Computer and Video Games put up an article ripping into Halo’s story, and questioning the value of stories in video games in general. The article seems a bit shallow, but everyone’s got their own perspective, I guess.(Louis Wu 23:29:04 UTC)

  • Single Segment Speedrun, Halo CE

    by

    in
Ducain, then NOKYARD, sent word of a new speedrun through Halo – 90 minutes, start to finish, all in one shot. (The actual downloads are broken up by level, but that’s just to be reasonable, bandwidth-wise.) Swing by High Speed Halo for all the details. Congrats to slYnki for the impressive achievement!(Louis Wu 23:29:27 UTC)

  • First Person Perspective Warthog

    by

    in
Yesterday morning, RVideo posted a cool movie showing a first-person view from a Warthog; it’s not true first-person, but a modified chasecam perspective that simulates a first-person view. His forum post explains what you’re looking at (and the problems involved in collecting the footage). He released this in DivX 6.4 format (link is in the forum post), but if that’s a problem for you, I’ve reencoded QuickTime (53.7 mb) and WMP9 (49.2 mb) versions that we’re hosting; grab whichever one works best for you.(Louis Wu 23:28:06 UTC)

  • Agent 117 – John’s Bond

    by

    in
Lt Tuma sent word of a trailer he’d made, and posted on YouTube – audio comes (mostly) from the Casino Royale trailer, video comes from lots and lots and lots of different Halo sources. Really well put together, great choices – go watch it!(Louis Wu 23:28:44 UTC)

  • The end of the Action Figures

    by

    in
A couple of days ago, Dielectric mentioned on our forum that Joyride had sent out a press release stating that the Heretic Grunt action figure had been cancelled… and that the Halo 2 figure collection was now finished. No more!(Louis Wu 23:27:15 UTC)

  • 411mania waiting for Halo 3

    by

    in
Friday afternoon posting spree! First up – 411mania.com posts their Top 5 Most Anticipated Games of 2007… Halo 3 comes in at number 4 on two editors’ lists, number 2 on two others, and number 3 on a third pair. Not bad!(Louis Wu 23:26:43 UTC)

  • No Update This Week…

…but, we did want to keep you updated on a lone Halo related news item this week, and more importantly, take the time to wish you all a happy and prosperous New Year. Except the traditional Chinese. We’ll get you later on!

  • The Heart is a Lonely Hunter

    30 minutes

    From HBO

The Heart is a Lonely Hunter is probably the best Halo machinima ever made. I think Louis Wu said it best when the movie was released about 2.2 years ago.

Every once in a while, a Halo movie comes along that’s head and shoulders above almost everything else out there. Great filmography, awesome sound, fantastic voice acting… if you look back on all of the Halo machinima creations that have been released (we’re not talking music videos now, or gameplay presentations), there are only a couple that are up there in a class that can stand alone, be of interest OUTSIDE the Halo community. (Red vs Blue is probably the most prominent example.) Now (in my opinion), there’s a new one. ‘The Heart is a Lonely Hunter’ is a 30-minute movie which has it all; great acting, great storyline, great cinematography, great music, great effects. Humor and pathos, all rolled into a Halo-driven package.

Beware, everyone, this movie is teh hueg. 30 minutes long, almost 130 megs for the PSP version. If you want, I can try to shrink it to under 120 megs. Or, you can download it to your PC. The format was 320×240 anyway, so it should look pretty good just watching it.

    PSP – 128MB
    Zune – 55.2MB
    iPod – 57.5MB

  • More Brute Doc Stuff

    by

    in
There are a couple of new dissections of the Brute documentary you might find interesting – the Halo 3 Data Archive has one (thanks, Old Mattacus), and so does Rampancy.net (thanks, Narcogen). Get to reading!(Louis Wu 16:39:49 UTC)

  • New Hoodie at the Bungie Store

    by

    in
A quick note about a new hoodie at the Bungie Store – this has been pictured before (in a Bungie Weekly Update), but has not been for sale until recently. Thanks to a few people who noticed – but Jonathan Rivas was first (a couple of days ago… I’ve been a bit overwhelmed for newsposting).(Louis Wu 16:32:23 UTC)

  • Quotes And Notable Notes From Bungie’s Brute Video

    Brute Chieftain

Since some HBO forumgoers were kind enough to hold open the thread for me, I’m now morally obligated to deliver the goods on the Brute documentary. Given that it is longer and more up-front with its new content than the TV ad, I think a frame by frame analysis, in most places, is unwarranted, so instead I thought I would cherry-pick a few notable quotations or bits of information, and add my own commentary.
