Halo 3 Campaign Saved Films – Still In
A couple of days ago, we mentioned a fan-written article that suggested that Halo 3 Campaign Theater was being downgraded in the Master Chief Collection. That seems to be a premature conclusion – check out this tweet from Frankie confirming that they’re still in the package. Yay! (Thanks, FyreWulff.)(Louis Wu 21:43:31 UTC)

Halo 4 Assassinations – Up Close and Personal
Gamecheat13 used his moddling skills to show you what Halo 4 assassinations would have looked like in a first-person view (instead of the third-person view we drop into now). These look BRUTAL! (Of course, they’re slowed down so you can see this – it would have been pretty tough to tell what was going on at all if 343 had gone this route.) Thanks, gamerguy2002.(Louis Wu 23:31:28 UTC)

ASE Ep. 140 Marathon EVIL 15: Septic Exodus Part 4
We’ve finished with the canonical Marathon Trilogy and are moving on to third party scenarios, starting with EVIL. In this scenario, a UESC ship from Tau Ceti runs into a spatial anomaly that sends them far away where we encounter something dark and evil.
Apologies for this, our fourth video on the same level of Marathon EVIL.
We don’t do walkthroughs, but if what you’re looking for is a solution to the puzzles of Septic Exodus, skip parts 1-3 and just watch this video. Last time we failed to complete the final puzzle because we forgot a switch– this video covers all the switches in order, with most of the combat (kindergarten difficulty) skipped.
EVIL can be played, like the other Marathon games, using the open source Aleph One engine which you can get here for Windows, Mac and Linux:
EVIL and other third party scenarios for the Aleph One engine can be downloaded here:

We use irons’ Co-Op script, which gives weapons and ammo to both players if either picks any up, and prevents weapon loss on death (so items can’t be destroyed in lava or slime). The script also allows one player to teleport to a destination set by themselves or their partner, in case co-op players run into a problem a solo player would have to restart for.

A Pillar of Bricks
asa stopped by with a link to a video released this summer, after Brickworld 2014 – Lee Jones created a 100+ kg replica of the Pillar of Autumn, complete with realized engines! He declined to mention the total cost of the included LEGOs, but he said it would have paid for a trip to Hawaii for his wife, so… The work involved is astounding, you should go look. (asa also included links to some supplementary pages with more pics and info.)(Louis Wu 17:26:26 UTC)

Is Theater getting a downgrade?
Team Beyond has gone through the recently uploaded Master Chief Collection manual, and the wording for Theater modes suggests that some functionality that DID exist in Halo 3 (when it launched in 2007) has been removed in the Master Chief Collection. 343 hasn’t commented, that we’ve heard, so it’s possible that there’s just some misunderstanding going on… but it’s also possible that you will not be able to easily create campaign experiences in the MCC. More when we know it! Thanks, The BS Police.(Louis Wu 17:23:05 UTC)

50 new MCC Achievements in Launch Content
Yesterday, Bravo posted a list of the 50 Achievements (500 gamerscore) being added to the existing 400 Achievements that ship with The Master Chief Collection – I’m guessing some of these will have a very, very, VERY low completion rate. I love that Halo speedrunners are being honored by name!(Louis Wu 17:17:37 UTC)

Project Contingency Update
The last time we mentioned Project Contingency was back in January – this CryEngine 3-based Halo mod was already several months into production, and some of their work had accidentally been leaked, and mistaken for the next Halo title. A couple of days ago, they posted a new update on their website – looks like they’ve been busy! Go explore. (Thanks to GamerHeadlines for the heads-up.)(Louis Wu 17:54:42 UTC)
