A note from 343
Bonnie Ross, Head of 343 Industries, posted a note on Halo Waypoint last night – she summarized the issues still facing the Master Chief Collection, and outlined the fixes that are in the pipeline. If you’re feeling like you’re not being listened to, give this a read – 343 definitely understands that things aren’t working properly for fans, and are working hard to fix this. (Thanks to zofinda for the heads-up.)(Louis Wu 23:38:45 UTC)

Secrets of the Halo 4 Beta
The modding scene continues to churn out interesting Halo content – Lord Zedd has a couple of interesting new vids for you, both focused on the Halo 4 Beta. The first shows off the ‘Midnight’ menus (which look like reskinned Reach menus), while the second shows a Call-of-Duty-like Remote Missile which was never actually used in multiplayer (though it may have shown up in the Campaign level ‘Reclaimer’, at the end). Fun stuff! Thanks, gamerguy2002 (twice).(Louis Wu 22:18:10 UTC)

Podtacular 453: Are We Fixed Yet?
Since the release of the Master Chief Collection, there have been many frustrations amongst Halo fans with the numerous issues plaguing the game. The content update that came out this week, while it seems to statistically helped as reported by 343 Industries, many people are either seeing better results, new issues, or a degradation in capabilities. Despite the issues, the Halo Championship Series announced during the week leading up to the Launch Invitational is shaping up to bring Halo eSports a new life in competitive gaming. One of the people responsible for helping put together HCS is none other than one of the favored eSports commentators Goldenboy, who happens to be our guest on this episode to give us the details and where we can expect the series to go in the coming months.

ASE Ep. 145 Marathon EVIL 32: View From The Edge (Secret Level)
We’ve finished with the canonical Marathon Trilogy and are moving on to third party scenarios, starting with EVIL. In this scenario, a UESC ship from Tau Ceti runs into a spatial anomaly that sends them far away where we encounter something dark and evil.
Okay, so it turns out THIS is the final level. It’s actually a secret level, although I have no idea where the entrance is. Anyway, here it is. Our mission? Kill everything, including a fat guy with a strangling fetish. Yes, really.
EVIL can be played, like the other Marathon games, using the open source Aleph One engine which you can get here for Windows, Mac and Linux:
EVIL and other third party scenarios for the Aleph One engine can be downloaded here:

We use irons’ Co-Op script, which gives weapons and ammo to both players if either picks any up, and prevents weapon loss on death (so items can’t be destroyed in lava or slime). The script also allows one player to teleport to a destination set by themselves or their partner, in case co-op players run into a problem a solo player would have to restart for.
